Wayne Rooney has personally spoken to Marcus Rashford amid uncertainty over his Manchester United future.
United have been exploring loan options for Rashford this month, as a permanent transfer is difficult to finalise.
The 27-year-old forward admitted he was open to a “new challenge,” fueling speculation about his next move.
AC Milan were considered frontrunners but instead opted to sign Kyle Walker from Manchester City.
Barcelona remain Rashford’s preferred destination, while Borussia Dortmund are also monitoring his situation.
There is still a chance Rashford could stay at Old Trafford for the rest of the season.
Wayne Rooney has weighed in on the situation, claiming he is no longer surprised by the speculation.

The club’s record goalscorer revealed that he has personally advised Rashford to leave United.
Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Rooney did not hold back in his assessment.
“I was surprised when this started over two years ago, but now I’m not,” Rooney said.
“I’ve spoken to Marcus a couple of times and I’ve given him my thoughts and feelings.
For him to have a fresh start, he needs to leave the club.
The fact that your manager [Ruben Amorim] is coming out and saying that you’re not training right is crazy.”
An exit appears to be making more sense for all parties involved.
Rashford himself admitted he was open to leaving before being frozen out of the squad.
His focus seems to be elsewhere, ideally in Barcelona, while Amorim remains focused on United.
The situation must be resolved soon, as media speculation is becoming increasingly exhausting.
If Rashford does stay, something must change for the rest of the season.
It’s rather unlikely that Amorim will slot him back into the starting eleven for the long-term.
