Warriors vs Bucks Preview: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry look to get back to their best

Two of the best teams in the NBA will meet Thursday night at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin when the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks host the Golden State Warriors who have lost the best record in the best basketball in the world.

While these teams could very well meet in the NBA Finals later this year, it is a reality that their first matchup of the season between Giannis Antetokounmpo and Stephen Curry does not come at the best time for both teams.

Bad moment for Milwaukee and Golden State

Milwaukee is coming off a 103-99 loss to the Charlotte Hornets last Monday night, making it four losses in the last five games.

In that game, the Bucks’ two best players recorded a double-double, the “Greek Freak” accumulated 26 points and 13 rebounds, while Khris Middleton had 27 points and 11 assists, and Jordan Nwora registered 18 points.

“Not every shot’s going to fall, not every night’s going to be an ‘on’ night,” Nwora said. “Unfortunately we didn’t pull through today or last game, but it’s about having those type of nights and being able to find a way to still win and I’m sure we’ll get there.”

Golden State, meanwhile, succumbed last Tuesday night by a score of 116-108 at home to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Third game back for Klay Thompson

In the game, Curry racked up his second triple-double of the season by recording 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

It was the second game back for Klay Thompson, who continues to see limited minutes due to the long absence of the other “Splash Brother,” still scored 14 points.

“You can’t just take that much time off and jump into a 40-minute ballgame,” Thompson said. “At times I’ll go back to the bench frustrated, but I really trust our team and our performance team to have my back.”

Draymond Green did not play against the Grizzlies and is questionable so it is unlikely he will see him against the Bucks.
