The Warriors will start their five-game preseason slate in Japan before hosting three games at Chase Center.
The reigning NBA champions unveiled their full preseason schedule Wednesday morning.
After opening training camp Sept. 24 at Chase Center, the Warriors will head overseas to play a pair of games against the Washington Wizards as part of the NBA Japan Games. The two teams will go head-to-head Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at Saitama Super Arena, though fans will have to get up early or stay up late to watch the games live.
While the Warriors have already played eight games outside North America, most recently in China in 2017, this will be their first trip to Japan. The Warriors-Wizards contests will mark the 15th and 16th NBA games to be played there.
Once the Warriors are back stateside, they’ll host three additional preseason games at Chase Center, starting with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers Oct. 9. Then, they’ll welcome the Portland Trail Blazers, who snagged Gary Payton II in free agency, on Oct. 11 before closing out their preseason schedule Oct. 14, with a game against the Denver Nuggets, whom the Warriors eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in April on their way to the title.
The Warriors’ regular-season schedule will be announced at a later date.
Here’s a quick outline of the Warriors’ preseason schedule (all times PT):
- Friday, Sept. 30: Wizards vs. Warriors at Saitama Super Arena in Japan | 3 a.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 1: Wizards vs. Warriors at Saitama Super Arena in Japan | 10 p.m.
