RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. (TCN) — Authorities recently arrested a man on suspicion of killing a missing 68-year-old man whose remains were found on a residential property.
Terry Brown was reported missing to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office in August after he was last seen in Union Mills. According to deputies, the missing person investigation turned into a suspected murder investigation after Brown’s remains were found buried on a home’s property in the same area. The sheriff’s office did not say how Brown died.
On Sept. 5, the sheriff’s office said they identified Jerry Martin, who also goes by “Doodle,” as the primary suspect in Brown’s killing. Authorities secured a first-degree murder warrant for Martin and asked for anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
The sheriff’s office announced on Sept. 7 that Martin turned himself in to the Rutherford County Detention Facility.
