Sporting Lisbon’s manager Ruben Amorim is all set to join Manchester United during the next international break, with rumours stirring that Viktor Gyokeres could join him soon.
The Sweden international is enjoying an incredible run of form this season which has seen him grab 20 goals and four assists in 16 games.
Tonight, Sporting took on Estrela, delivering an emphatic win, 5-1, to keep them at the top of the Liga Portugal league table.
Gyokeres as always made his presence known, scoring a hattrick before half-time, and grabbing a fourth in the second half. These four goals have extended his lead in the league’s Golden Boot race, with FC Porto’s Samu in second place with seven goals to Gyokeres’ 16.
With the striker enjoying incredible success under Ruben Amorim, it’s understandable that a move to Old Trafford to continue with Amorim looks like a potential outcome, especially with United only having Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as out-and-out strikers.

However, speaking after the match, Gyokeres addresses the current links with The Red Devils.
Viktor Gyokeres responds to links of moving to Old Trafford
Speaking to the press after his incredible display against Estrela, Gyokeres commented: “Going with Amorim to Man United? I don’t know, I’m here. As you can see, I enjoy it at Sporting. It’s nothing I think about.”
He continued: “I’m sad about him leaving. We wish him all the best”.
Whilst Gyokeres is dismissive of the links, acknowledging his great form at Sporting Lisbon, he hasn’t quite closed the door to a potential move in the future.
