Video captures Erik ten Hag telling Man United squad they are making ‘too many mistakes’, but praises Harry Maguire as Ajax training drill shows how much work Premier League side need

New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has wasted no time in getting stuck into his players.

Ten Hag recalled his squad back early ahead of the new season, and has been getting them into the swing of things with some intense training drills.

After the club’s worst ever Premier League campaign last time out, fans will be pleased to see the keen disciplinarian is taking no prisoners during pre-season training.

In one video shared on Twitter, Ten Hag can be heard yelling “Too many mistakes,” as well as, “That’s good Harry,” in praise of club captain Maguire.

It isn’t the first time the Dutchman’s high standards have been caught on camera, with United fans thrilled to see a video of him calling out Noa Lang on the Ajax touchline.

After a campaign where the Red Devils were accused of a lack of effort by many, it could be exactly the kind of refreshment that’s needed at Old Trafford.

However, there may be some concerns over how big a task Ten Hag has on his hands, with footage emerging of the same training drill at Ajax.

Players of the Amsterdam club are seen completing one-touch passes in a blisteringly fast session, showing just how far United’s current crop have to go.

Despite the tough training, it is thought United’s players are enjoying the sessions under the new boss.

Tyrell Malacia will soon link up with the team, having joined from Feyenoord, while Christian Eriksen and Frenkie de Jong are also being linked with transfers.

The club fly to Asia for their summer friendlies and face Liverpool in Bangkok on 12 July.

They then play Melbourne Victory on 15 July in Australia, followed by Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

One player not expected to be there is Cristiano Ronaldo, who is angling for a move away.
