VGN To Enforce Environmental Laws In Cross River

The Cross River State Commissioner for Environment, Hon Mfon Bassey has expressed government’s readiness to partner Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and other Security Agencies in enforcing environmental standards and practices in the State.

Hon. Bassey made this known while addressing over 50 VGN men at the Ministry’s headquarters, Calabar.

According to Hon Bassey, the business of keeping Cross River State clean and green is a shared responsibility that requires all hands t on deck and a task that must not be compromised for any reason.

He said the VGN overtime has proven to be worthy in the discharge of it responsibilities through dedication and commitment to duty.

” Vigilante Group of Nigeria have proven to be worthy, your men that are already working with us have displayed passion, dexterity and commitment to duty. Reasons I have asked for more hands” Hon Bassey stated.

He charged them to shun all form of corruption in the course of discharging their duties, adding that such will not be tolerated as anyone caught would be penalized.

Highlighting the scope of work, the Commissioner mentioned; indiscriminate dumping of waste,trading in unauthorized locations, illegal motor parks, igniting fire on waste bins, amongst others.

In their separate remarks, the men eulogized the Gover Ayade -led administration for the recognition of the group and for seeing them worthy to work with.

They pledged to put in their best according to job specifications and within the confines of the law in sustaining a cleaner, greener and safer Cross River State.
