A veteran journalist and stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Sam Arikpo JP, has congratulated the Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, Hon. Yibala Igri Inyang on the recent conferment of a chieftaincy title on him by the Obol Lopon of Ekori, HRH, Obol Donatus Ofem.
Hon. Inyang was conferred the chieftaincy title of Obol Nkpeli 1 of Ekoli, meaning “King of Development 1 of Ekoli,” in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development and progress of the community.
Chief Arikpo in a congratulatory message, affirmed that the cap is well fitting on Hon. Inyang, who according to him, started his political leadership journey on the right footing.

He described the Chairman as humble, stating that within a short period in office he has achieved laudable feats, such as his emergence as Chairman of Forum of Local Government Council Chairmen in the state. “Your election to that position shows that your colleagues saw something great in you,” he said.
Chief Arikpo recalled that barely three months after inauguration as Chairman, Hon. Yibala Inyang led Yakurr local government to win the cultural carnival in December, 2024. He also said that under his watch, the just concluded Leboku International Festival attracted and brought the Cross River State Government, as symbolized by the presence of the governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu and his dear wife, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu to Yakurr, a feat never achieved in the last 8 years.
The elder statesman advised the youthful political leader to be focused and remain steadfast in delivering the dividends of democracy to people at the grassroots. He however urged him to be wary of praise singers who are only motivated by selfish interest rather than the desire to assist him deliver good governance which is vital for building lasting political legacy.
Chief Arikpo concluded by praying to God to guide and direct Hon. Inyang’s path as he navigates the terrain of politics and governance.
