BandaiNamcoAmerica released a new trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Friday morning that unveils a slew of new playable characters hailing from the Majin Buu Dragon Ball Z saga.
While we’ve seen some of these characters in action already thanks to early build showcases, others come as something of a surprise, especially one villain in particular who doesn’t do all that much fighting for himself.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is focused on not only retelling the franchise’s powerful story threads with the latest and greatest sound and visuals, but submerging players so far into the experience that they can actually begin retelling the narrative themselves.
Players will be able to create and customize their own battles with the option to sprinkle extra dramatic beats, twists, and turns throughout. While moving through traditional narrative threads, such as the Buu saga highlighted in the new trailer, they will also have options to change outcomes of certain fights and play from various character points of view.
While we expected to see the likes of Gotenks, Majin Buu and his many forms, Super Saiyan 3 Goku, and the handful of Gohan states that popped up during the Buu saga, the trailer also reveals that baddie Babidi is headed to the character select screen.
Babadi is an evil alien wizard who was cloned from his father, Bibidi, who created Buu. The short-statured character is a bit of a boss who does more talking than fighting in the source material, but fans will have the option to control Babidi and perhaps change the events leading up to Majin Buu’s initial release in Sparking Zero.
Check out the full new trailer below as it shows off all the new official roster members and let us know in the comments whom you’re most excited to play as in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero and why.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is set to release on October 11, 2024 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and those who pre-order the Deluxe or higher editions will get three days of early access.
