Manchester United took on Ipswich this weekend in Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge of the Red Devils, with some key facing missing from the squad, including Leny Yoro.
Amorim’s men took to the pitch and managed to navigate a 1-1 draw thanks to an extremely early Marcus Rashford goal. The striker connected with an Amad Diallo cross within the first two minutes to send United in front.
However, just before half-time, Ipswich answered with Omari Hutchinson drawing the two teams level.
Most of the first-team were as expected, with the likes of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Rashford all featuring in the starting line-up.
However, with continued injuries to the centre-backs, Amorim set up his back three as Matthijs de Ligt, Jonny Evans and Noussair Mazraoui.

Leny Yoro and Ruben Amorim’s centre-back injuries
Victor Lindelof was taken off limping in Sweden’s recent game with Slovakia, whilst Lisandro Martinez was ruled out of international duty due to a spinal injury. It’s now been reported that Martinez is set to miss 2 to 3 weeks, however, it’s not overly serious.
It was expected that Leny Yoro would be making his competitive debut after suffering a broken metatarsal in the pre-season. However, there was no sign of the young centre-bac, not even on the bench.
Now, Academy Scoop has confirmed that this isn’t a sign of any further setbacks in his recovery.
Taking to X, the account which covers the United academy confirmed: “Regarding Leny Yoro’s absence from yesterday’s match-day squad, I’m reliably told no further set-backs have been suffered, rather he’s simply continuing his planned reintegration following the injury he sustained during pre-season.”
This update will surely ease any worries that the fans may have of having to wait even longer for Yoro’s exciting debut.
