It was an atmosphere of excitement and gratitude on Thursday in Idima Abam, a community in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, when the Unubiko Foundation extended its generosity by donating 350 bags of rice and other relief materials to the villagers.
The event was put together by the foundation’s founder, Chief Chijioke James Ume, through the Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, Dr. Christopher Okoro Kalu.
Kalu, who is also a member of the foundation, said the gesture aligns with the founder’s commitment to supporting those in need.
He remarked that the initiative reflects the foundation’s core belief in giving back to society, particularly during challenging times.
Speaking on behalf of the Rector, Chief Jones Nnanna Ike, noted the economic hardships currently facing many Nigerians have made it difficult for some to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities.
He explained that the distribution of 350 bags of rice, cash gifts, and Ankara wrappers was designed to bring joy to the community and alleviate some of the burdens faced by its residents.
Ike also took the opportunity to recount the foundation’s people-centered efforts over the years.
They include providing scholarships to over 200 students, the recent N500m donation to Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic during its last convocation, and covering medical bills for numerous patients in the state.
The joy of the beneficiaries was palpable.
One of them, Mr. Igwe, expressed his gratitude: “God bless the founder, Unubiko Foundation, Chief Dr. Chijioke James Ume for his kind heart towards us in Idima Abam.
“I received a bag of rice, my wife a wrapper and also a cash gift. What more can I ask for this Christmas?” he asked.
Similarly, Mrs. Janeth shared that the donation restored her hope during a difficult period.
She praised the foundation and its members for their kindness and commitment to the welfare of the community, especially during the festive season.
