Nigerian Bulletin published a report recently within which was contained Webometrics' ranking of universities in Nigeria. The ranking was conducted based on four features which Webometrics referred to as: Presence Rank, Impact Rank, Openness Rank and Excellence Rank. Points were scored according to these features as the aggregate scores determine a university's ranking.
In the said report, twenty tertiary institutions were highlighted as University of Ibadan made it to the top followed by Covenant University, Ota and Obafemi Awolowo University came out third. University of Calabar (UNICAL) made it to twenty as University of Uyo(UNIUYO) made it to nineteen.
In terms of 'presence rank' UNIUYO and UNICAL had 91198 points & 10578 points respectively; under 'impact rank' UNIUYO scored 11581 points as UNICAL had 13171 points; again, UNIUYO scored 15924 points under 'openness rank' as UNICAL had 13811 points. Finally, under 'excellence rank' 2527 points were made by UNIUYO, whereas UNICAL galloped with 2856 points. The aggregates are thus UNIUYO: 121230 points and UNICAL: 40416 points.
