Undergraduate students of the University of Calabar have expressed anger over the hike in prices of goods and services on campus.
Before Monday’s protest, the students had been agitating over the 50 per cent hike in school fees.
The students have appealed for service providers not to add to their burdens.
Appealing to the students to restrain themselves, the Director of Welfare of the Student Union Government, Omagu Paul. told the students that they are talking to the service providers and food vendors on campus.
In a statement titled, “Prices of goods and services in Malabor Republic to remain regulated”, Paul said their “attention has been drawn to the hike in the price of goods and services in the Republic of Malabor.
“We are in talks with these service providers. We would ensure that the price of goods and services in the Republic of Malabor remains regulated and affordable for all.
“We plead that all Nigerian students (Malabites and Malabresses) to stay calm and be assured that they will always prioritise the welfare of every student at all times.”
