There has been an ongoing scuffle between Barr. Joseph Odok, a leading social media change agent and Agba Jalingo, the much respected publisher of CrossRiverWatch, a leading online journalistic firm in Cross River State.
The row concern itself with the about 7 months publication made by CrossRiverWatch on an allege rape incident between Professor Cyril Ndifon of University of Calabar's Faculty of Law and Ms Ekong Nkang a student of the faculty.
Odok argues that CrossRiverWatch as well as other online news retail site in Cross River State are silent over the recent developments on the case which smacks of deliberate blackmail between CrossRiverWatch and the blackmailers of Professor Cyril Ndifon. This was contained in an article published on Negroid Haven with the title: 'C' River State Online Journalists Silent over Prof. Cyril Ndifon Rape Matter —By Joseph Odok', made on the 30th of March.
Following Odok's publication, one Barr. Eno Iyamba made a rebuttal published in CrossRiverWatch alleging that Odok was a paid pen pusher for Prof. Ndifon. This incited a prompt rejoinder by Odok in another article titled: 'My Rejoinder to Eno Iyamba's Allegation of Compromise in my Online Proof that Prof. Ndifon's Rape Allegation is a Set-up by CrossRiverWatch', published on the 4th of April. This saw to CrossRiverWatch making a publication yesterday claiming that Professor Cyril Ndifon was running away from justice as the ICPC is gunning after him to appear before her.
In the most recent report, CrossRiverWatch is perceived to have shifted grounds on the allegation against Prof. Ndifon. What follows is how Joseph Odok captures the perceived shifting of grounds.
*'Hahaha it is no longer rape but abuse of office and giving exams on Saturday. I urge Agba Jalingo to go investigate to find out that it is normal practice for text and exams to be written on Saturday in Faculty of Law.
I see the blackmailers failing, I thought Agba Jalingo and his cohorts alleged that Prof. Ndifon is a serial rapist. You will soon shut up your mouth.
Prof. Ndifon is a citizen and cannot stop ICPC from arresting him if there is a strong case against him. Arrest is not made in social media tell the counsel of the alleged rape victim Barr James Ibor to show working as a lawyer by effecting the arrest of Prof Ndifon instead of this ongoing blackmail'.
On approaching Jeremiah Ojanga Archibong, the Administrative Manager of CrossRiverWatch for a response to Odok's position, this is the reply I got through a phone text message this morning: 'The matter is in court and the court will decide. Is CrossRiverWatch the court or police, we have no time for Odok he's looking for cheap publicity stunt and we won't give in. Thx.'. This was reply to my earlier text of inquiry which read thus: 'Hello Sir. Joseph Odok has raised the allegation against CrossRiverWatch that her recent publication on Prof. Cyril Ndifon has shifted from rape to 'abuse of office and giving exams on Saturday'. How do you respond to such an allegation by Odok. Looking forward to hear from you, please. -Efio-Ita Nyok, NH'.
