Three University of Benin students who were rescued from a collapsed building in Ekosodin community are in stable condition, according to the university’s management.
The incident occurred on Saturday following a heavy downpour that began the previous day.
While no lives were lost, several students were said to have sustained injuries.
A swift rescue operation involving staff from the security and fire service departments, health centre, students, and police pulled the students from the rubble.
The injured students were initially treated at the university’s health centre, with two later transferred to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
In a statement, the university management expressed relief at the students’ condition and commended the rescue team for their prompt response and bravery.
“The management wishes the affected students speedy recovery and commends the rescue team for their gallantry,” the statement said.
