Prof. Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, on Monday, handed over the affairs of the University of Abuja to the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aisha Maikudi.
Na’Allah was appointed as the vice-chancellor of the university on July 1, 2019.
Prior to his appointment as UniAbuja VC, he served as VC of state-owned Kwara State University, Malete in Kwara State.
A graduate of the University of Ilorin in 1988, Na’Allah also obtained his Masters degree from the same institution in 1992 before proceeding to the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, where he obtained his PhD in comparative literature.
Giving his handover speech, Na’Allah expressed his gratitude to the university community for the ability to have served.
“I am grateful to have a strong team to have worked with me and I am handing over to the same great team. It is my prayer that the university will continue to make giant strides. I will continue to support the university in whatever way I can.
“I am going to be on sabbatical so technically, I’m still with this university as I do my sabbatical,” he said.
In his farewell message to staff and students of the institution posted on the school’s Facebook page, Na’Allah appreciated them for their support during his tenure.
He expressed apology to whoever he had offended in the course of performing his duties.
“I am writing to you for the last time as your Vice-Chancellor. I thank God Almighty for the rare opportunity to lead this great University of Abuja as Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer for five years! They were years of excitement, a great chance to work together and raise the banners of the great UofA of Nigeria, University for National Unity, University of Abuja!
“I am grateful to every student and every staff member for their love and support and I apologise to those who in whatever way felt offended by any of my actions as your leader and Vice-Chancellor. My goal was always to go for the best, no matter how difficult!
“I have no doubt that the University of Abuja would continue to achieve its destiny of greatness and nothing and no one would take it backward!,” he said.
The Acting VC, Maikudi, a renowned professor of International Law, was the deputy vice-chancellor, academic of the institution before she was appointed the VC.
