A hierarch of the persecuted Ukrainian Orthodox Church celebrated the Divine Liturgy at a parish of the Orthodox Church in America in Los Angeles on Sunday, October 27.
Archpriest Nazary Polataiko, rector of the Holy Virgin Mary Cathedral, invited His Eminence Metropolitan Viktor of Khmelnitsky, who led the service with the cathedral clergy and other OCA and UOC clerics. The service was conducted in English and Church Slavonic, reports the Khmelnitsky Diocese.
The report notes that, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of Washington and All America and Canada, prayers are offered for His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine at every service in OCA churches during litanies and at the Great Entrance.

Prayers for peace in Ukraine were also read.
At the end of the Liturgy, Met. Viktor addressed the faithful in the church with a sermon in Ukrainian and English.
The rector of the L.A. parish, Archpriest Nazary, is of Ukrainian origin and was ordained to the priesthood by Met. Onuphry on August 19, 2014, at the Kiev Caves Lavra.
After the service, Met. Viktor had the opportunity to speak with Ukrainians who were forced to leave Ukraine due to the war and who know live in Los Angeles.
