The winners of the Eurovision Song Contest have auctioned off their trophy to raise money for Ukraine’s armed forces.
Kalush Orchestra took to Facebook to say they had raised 900-thousand US dollars (836,334 euros) by selling the trophy to the highest bidder.
The post suggested that the winning bid was made by crypto currency exchange Whitebit.
Kalush Orchestra won the contest, held in Italy earlier this month, with their song “Stefania“.
It was penned by front man Ihor Psiuk as a tribute to his mother.
But Russia’s invasion turned it into an anthem to the motherland, with lyrics that pledge: “I’ll always find my way home, even if all roads are destroyed.”
