Its because they japa’d on paying £3,000 sch fees deposit. Balance is £15,000. They were expecting to make the balance from working 20hours per week which is the maximum you can work as a student. They expect to do this and pay their rent, bills, travel and feeding from the same money. The problem is that UK university is not a charity. They will not educate you for free. If you cant pay the full fees, DO NOT leave Nigeria. There is no help. These students will have visas revoked and you will have to go back. If you remain in the UK you will not be able to work or function and will keep hiding with no life. Be very very careful what you believe about japa. SO many Nigerians using food banks who could feed themselves very very well in the Nig. Many people are homeless because they can’t pay for rent and government will not support you as you don’t qualify. I wish the people going through it will tell the truth. We have a culture of shame so many won’t speak up to warn others. And even if they did, many people will not believe. They will say its because you don’t want others to come etc. Children are being taken into care and you may lose your child forever due to careless mistakes (UK can deport you and order closed adoption of your child). You can’t even fight because you can’t pay for lawyer and charities will not support you as you may not be eligible being ‘illegal’. I am not telling anyone not to japa but don’t fail to thoroughly plan yourself and budget properly. DO NOT be expecting things to work out via NSPDD. This is delusion. No one will dash or borrow you £15,000 abroad.
