UCL: You’re not fit, look yourself in the mirror – Glenn Hoddle tells Chelsea star

Former Chelsea manager, Glenn Hoddle, has claimed that striker Romelu Lukaku is not fit.

Hoddle also urged Lukaku to look himself in the mirror as Chelsea set to face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-final first leg tie at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Lukaku returned to Chelsea from Inter Milan for a club-record £98 million in the summer of 2021.

The Belgium international initially hit the ground running, scoring four goals in his first four appearances under manager Thomas Tuchel.

However, Lukaku’s performances since then have hit the rock and Hoddle thinks it could be down to the striker’s fitness.

Speaking about Lukaku, Hoddle told Sportsmail: “The missing piece has nothing to do with Tuchel, it has nothing to do with how Chelsea plays. He has got to look at himself in the mirror.

“He’s got to look at himself in the mirror and say I have got to get the best out of myself. He is no way near the player he was since he had that interview. Since he had that injury.

“I don’t know if he is fit enough. He doesn’t look really lean and fit to me. Maybe he has worked on the wrong things. He may have worked hard, but he may have worked on the wrong things.”
