Malacia was initially brought in to provide competition at left-back but has found game time limited.
This season, he has only featured three times in the Premier League due to a long term injury issue.
His departure comes as part of a squad reshuffle under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
With the arrival of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, Malacia has fallen further down the pecking order.
United have been actively reshaping their defensive options in recent transfer windows.
Luke Shaw and Malacia were once seen as the club’s long-term left-back options.
However, Shaw’s inconsistent presence in the first team and new additions have made Malacia expendable.
United have also seen several key departures in the winter transfer window.
Marcus Rashford has also agreed to leave on a temporary basis, nearing a move to Aston Villa.
Villa manager Unai Emery is looking to reinforce his squad, and Rashford’s move is expected to be finalized shortly.
The club continues to work on balancing the squad amid financial constraints and tactical adjustments.
United’s focus remains on building a competitive team under Amorim, with further changes anticipated.

According to Daily Mail, Malacia is set to complete a loan move to Benfica.
The Dutch international had interest from Real Betis and Celtic but chose the Portuguese side.
His contract with United runs until 2026, but he is not part of Amorim’s immediate plans.
Benfica sees Malacia as a key reinforcement as they push for domestic and European success.
The loan agreement includes an option for a permanent transfer, depending on his performances.
