Two 17-year-old boys from Marysville and Tulalip have been charged as adults in connection with the stabbing of a 14-year-old boy earlier this month at Lions Park in Everett. The suspects were apprehended at their respective homes, with investigators noting that both the victim and the suspects were acquaintances and attended Lakewood High School together.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the victim on the front steps of a nearby home, suffering from severe injuries. He was covered in blood, had multiple stab wounds and scratches, and was only wearing socks. Notably, the letter “N” had been carved into his chest, and he exhibited swelling on his head. The victim informed officers that he had been attacked at Lions Park and identified one of his assailants as a member of the “Norteno” gang, according to the charges filed.
The suspects face serious charges, including first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, and first-degree kidnapping. On December 17, officers responded to a call reporting a teenager covered in blood who had shown up at a home in the area of Olympic Drive and Rainier Drive in Everett. Probable cause documents reveal that video surveillance captured a blood-soaked, naked teenager ringing the doorbell while gasping for breath.
Prior to the incident, the victim had been in contact with a girl via social media and arranged to meet her on the night of December 16. After being picked up, the victim suggested they go to Lions Park to hang out and smoke. He later expressed concern that the girl might have been alerting others about their plans, suspecting she was setting him up, as she had previously orchestrated an attack on one of his friends.
Upon arriving at the park, the victim exited the vehicle, and while he was about to open the door for the girl, two individuals approached him from behind, forcibly taking him into a wooded area while the girl drove away. Although the attackers wore ski masks, the victim recognized them immediately.
During the assault, the victim was held at gunpoint and ordered to strip, with his clothing being used to tie him to a tree. The suspects then fled the scene. After managing to free himself, the victim sought help at the nearest home. He was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett before being transferred to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.
The Marysville suspect was arrested at his home the following day, where police discovered a bloodied sweatshirt and boxers. The Tulalip suspect was also apprehended at his residence on the same day. A judge has set bail at $1 million for the Marysville teen, who had been arrested for a robbery in Seattle back in November and was released on December 2. Bail for the Tulalip teen was set at $300,000; he has since posted bail and been released.
