Here’s a scenario for you: you’re playing Manon, you’re facing off against a Guile, you have about 5% health left, he has 100% health, and he’s NuckleDu. It’s understandable if your instinct at this point is to stick your hand out for a shake and a “GG” exchance, but that’s not what XSET|iDom did when he found himself in this exact situation.
This took place during FlyQuest Fight Series 4 as the pair of Capcom Cup champions met for a winners quarter finals bout. Manon is regarded as one of the weakest characters on the roster, and having to open up a Guile as a grappler with no life to spare is never an easy task. Guess what happened, though?
iDom did have some advantages on his side of the match as he was up a round and had been able to stock up a daunting four Manon medals during that first round, meaning that if he were able to land any of his command grabs they were going to be devastating.
That’s a big “if” when you’re talking about a zone control nightmare character like Guile, and it gets even bigger when said Guile is one of the best to every play the character competitively.
We won’t spoil too much about how things go down, but we will say that iDom winds up burned out while Du engages Guile’s chip-doling level 2 Super. Needless to say, things don’t look particularly good for Manon.
The mighty HiFight captured this moment and shared it on X for the rest of us to appreciate. Check it out right here and chime into the comments with your thoughts on this badass comeback from iDom:
