Comedian Ellen DeGeneres, who formerly starred as the host of the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on television, has reportedly moved out of the United States and relocated to Cotswolds, England, with her wife Portia de Rossi after President-elect Donald Trump’s 2024 election landslide.
Sources with knowledge of the former television star’s relocation told The Wrap that DeGeneres and Rossi purchased a home in Cotswolds, England, which is roughly two hours from London, prior to the 2024 presidential election. However, a source told TMZ that while the house was purchased prior to the election, DeGeneres and Rossi were “very disillusioned” with Trump’s election landslide and immediately decided “to get the hell out” and leave the United States.
Sources also told TMZ that DeGeneres and Rossi are planning to put their property in Montecito, California, up for sale following their relocation to England. The Montecito property was purchased by DeGeneres and Rossi in 2019.

According to Page Six, the report of DeGeneres and Rossi leaving the United States and relocating to England comes after multiple social media users commented on one of DeGeneres’ social media posts from November 7, questioning whether she was going to leave the United States after Trump’s election victory.
One social media user wrote, “Didn’t Ellen say she’d leave the country if trump is elected??” Meanwhile, another social media user commented, “Aren’t you supposed to be leaving the country by now.”
Page Six reported that the former television star vocalized her support of Vice President Kamala Harris throughout the 2024 presidential campaign and reportedly contributed $3,300 to the Harris campaign.
In an Instagram post endorsing the vice president, DeGeneres stated, “There’s nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can’t wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president.”
DeGeneres also shared a post on November 1, urging her Instagram followers to vote in the 2024 election. The comedian’s post included a video featuring multiple women’s movements in the United States compiled by The Seneca Project.
“Let’s vote like our lives depend on it,” DeGeneres wrote at the time. “Because they do!”
