Terry Bogard has been on Street Fighter 6’s roster for over 10 days now, and is proving to be quite the popular pick as droves of SNK fans have surely flocked over to see how the company poster boy will fare in this guest appearance.
With his Fatal Fury influences Terry tends to function and play somewhat differently than the rest of the Street Fighter 6 roster, and this can prove perplexing for those trying to fight him. Never fear as Broski has all the information you need to be okay while facing the South Town Hero.
While it’s clear the Legendary Wolf has some stellar abilities and powerful tools, Capcom was also sure to plant plenty of weaknesses in his kit so as to not make him overpowered.
First thing’s first, you’ll make your life a lot easier if you realize that Terry does not have a single normal that’s plus on block.
Sure, he can string together light attacks or use Drive Rush to create frame traps like anyone else, but if you block a regular normal (perhaps outside of certain meaty wake up situations) you get to take your turn with a fast normal of your own.
Terry has a unique light fireball in that it travels relatively slowly across the ground. If you’ve faced him you’ve almost certainly been put in situations where said projectile threatens you while Terry himself follows behind it with a Drive Rush or a simple walk down.
Once it’s out on the screen this move is indeed quite effective, but developers were sure to design a weakness as well. Light Power Wave has a whopping 35 frames of recovery, meaning it leaves the user very open to jump ins.
That’s probably not news as one can tell as much by simply watching the animation, but did you know there are maneuvers other than jumps that you can use against it?
The low profile nature of the ground projectile makes it so moves like Honda’s Sumo Headbutt will go over it even without projectile-invincible properties. What’s more, characters with hopping moves like Ryu’s forward+mk can evade and punish the move as well.
Perhaps the most favorite move for Terry players to spam is his Burn Knuckle, which causes him to leap forward with an outstretched fist that can surprise foes. If you space it correctly, Burn Knuckle can actually be plus on block and so it can be quite the pain to try to deal with.
Broski puts this move and plenty of others under the microscope so that you can have the information you need to take out Terry in Street Fighter 6.
