Troops Raid Kidnappers’ Den, Kill Three, Rescue Military Officer

The Nigerian Army has raided kidnappers’ hideouts in separate raid operations in Benue State.

The Army in a statement on Thursday, said the troops on a search and rescue operation extricated from the Kidnappers’ den, Warrant Officer Ogbonna Charles, a serving soldier of the Army.

The officer was abducted on May 25, in Goh, the Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.

Charles, the Army said, is currently undergoing medical checks following his rescue.

The troops had also killed three terrorists after a raid of a notorious kidnap syndicate hideout in Sankara, Ukum Local Government Area of the state.

The troops, upon invasion of the hideout, rescued two hostages recovering one AK-47 rifle, one locally fabricated gun, assorted mobile phones, a camouflage uniform, and one motorbike.

Similarly, on May 30 the Army said its troops rescued 11 passengers including one Lieutenant Bot Elish, kidnapped while travelling on board a Peace Mass Transit Bus from Abuja to Port Harcourt were rescued.

“The troops, diligently combing known and suspected enclaves of the kidnappers, successfully trailed and freed the victims.

“All rescued individuals are currently receiving medical attention,” the Army said.

In another operation, an airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force on the hideout of a militia kingpin known as “Full Fire” on May 29 led to the recovery of four Baofeng radios with six chargers.

Other exhibits include one laptop, two Citel phones, three Samsung tablets, and 22 SIM cards from various networks, Moniepoint POS machines, numerous phone batteries, one HP hard drive, various family pictures, one burnt AK-49 rifle, a magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition, and a pen containing 30 cows.
