“Loml” is a track that really tugs at your heartstrings. Taylor starts off with a line about being referred to as someone’s “love of their life” a gazillion times. But then, things take a turn.
She sings, “If you know it in one glimpse, it’s legendary.” She adds, “What we thought was for all time was momentary.” The song wraps up with a punch. She tells the person, “You’re the loss of my life.”
Could it be about her long-term relationship with Joe? Maybe. But there are lyrics about “rekindled flames” and “we were just kids, babe.” These lines suggest it’s about her reconnection with Matty after so many years. She sings, “I’ve felt a glow like this never before and never since.”
Then there’s “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.” This song seems to be about Taylor powering through her Eras Tour despite heartbreak. She mentions how she’s “hittin’ my marks” on stage in front of a roaring crowd. She masks her feelings with a brave face: “Lights, camera, bitch smile.”
Despite its upbeat rhythm, the song is packed with lyrics about unreciprocated love. “I’m so obsessed with him, but he avoids me like the plague / I cry a lot, but I am so productive, it’s an art,” she sings. She adds, “You know you’re good when you can even do it with a broken heart.”
Finally, we have “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.” Taylor has a couple of questions for this “smallest man who ever lived,” who seemingly bolted from their relationship without warning. “You kicked out the stage lights, but you’re still performing,” she sings. She adds, “And in plain sight you hid / But you are what you did.”
