Popular merengue singer Rubby Prez was thrilled to be travelling to the Dominican Republic to escape the New York cold. He made this known during his final performance in New York, just days before dying when the roof of the Dominican Republic nightclub he was playing at collapsed. Prez, 69, was at New Yorks La Nueva Espaa restaurant on Friday, April 4, when he informed his fans that he would be travelling to Santo Domingo the next day to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. And on Monday Im heading out, so whoever wants to come with me, lets go, Perez said to the cheering crowd as he invited them to sing along to what would be his last performance in the US.
