  • Drake says he’s taking a break from making music due to the ‘craziest’ health issues with his stomach

Drake announced on Friday that he’s taking a hiatus from making new music to focus on health issues with his stomach that have been dogging him “for years.”

The “God’s Plan” performer appeared on his Sirius XM Sound 42 show “Table for One” on Friday morning and said he “probably won’t make music for a little bit,” according to recordings of the live radio segment shared on social media.

“I’m going to be real with you, I need to focus on my health, first and foremost — and I’ll talk about that soon enough — nothing crazy, but just like, you know, I want people to be healthy in life,” Drake teased before further explaining his health issues.

“I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach,” he continued. “I’m just saying what it is. So, I need to focus on my health, and I need to get right, and I’m going to do that. I have a lot of other things that I would love to focus on. So, I’mma’ lock the door in the studio for a little bit.

“I don’t even know what a little bit is,” Drake added. “Maybe a year or so, maybe a little longer.”

Drake has postponed the remaining five shows on his It’s All a Blur tour — including stops in Denver, New Orleans, Nashville, Tennessee, and Columbus, Ohio, according to online ticket listings and the rapper’s website. It was not immediately clear whether the concert postponements, which fans online noticed as early as last Sunday, were connected to his health issues. Drake is still scheduled to perform Friday and Saturday in his hometown of Toronto.

Drake’s tour has made headlines for fans throwing things onstage while he was performing, as well as his reactions to them, such as flaunting the dozens of bras tossed his way and his criticism of a fan who hurled a vape pen at him at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The rap superstar announced his pause from making music on the release day of his eighth studio album, “For All the Dogs,” a 23-song project that includes features from a long line of A-list talent: Bad Bunny, SZA, J. Cole, Lil Yachty, rising star Teezo Touchdown and a sample of Frank Ocean‘s “Wise Man,” which opens the album.

Drake has had a busy pandemic rebound, releasing three full-lengths in as many years: two solo albums, “Certified Lover Boy” and his dance music LP, “Honestly, Nevermind,” followed by a joint album with 21 Savage, “Her Loss,” all of which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

One of his most recent singles, “Slime You Out,” featuring SZA, drew backlash when it was released several weeks ago for lyrics that mention slavery. Neither Drake nor SZA have yet addressed criticism of the lyrics.

  • INTERVIEW: Economic Hardship Affecting Bedroom Performance Of Married Men – Abuja Judge Reveals 3 Main Causes Of Divorce

Honourable Abdulrahman Ibrahim is the judge of the Grade One Area Court, Bwari, Abuja.

The court has jurisdiction over civil and criminal cases within the area.

In this interview with THE WHISTLER at his chambers, Honorable Ibrahim reveals some of the root causes of divorce in marriages and how people can protect their marriages from divorce. Excerpts:

What Are The Common Reasons For Divorce Matters In Abuja Courts?

Thank you very much for this question. From the experience I have as a Grade One Area Court Judge here in Bwari, these are the reasons marriages are broken irretrievably:

Economic Difficulties: You can see a situation whereby a husband cannot cater for the responsibilities of his family and if the wife does not have an understanding or has been complaining or trying to tolerate it but it (the economic crisis) has reached a certain level, she has to get out of the marriage. Economic difficulty is among the reasons why marriages usually break.

Lack Of Intimacy: Cohabitation means for a husband to have (intimate) affairs with his wife. With the economic dilemma Nigerians are facing now, men are spiritually discouraged from performing well on their wives because of economic hardships or difficulties.

Some women don’t take it lightly, if it is in terms of cohabitation, such a woman is ready to get out of the marriage. We do have many cases here in court because of lack of cohabitation; maybe, he (the husband) cannot satisfy her (the wife) or she (the wife), to some extent, is not okay with him (the husband) and would want to go where she will get enough.

Disagreements About Children: Sometimes, maybe, the wife will have an interest in one of her children studying somewhere while the husband will have a different opinion (about the child’s education); from there, they will have issues which will escalate to a certain level to the point that either of them will come and file a case (divorce/custody application), that based of the case (circumstances), they want to get out of the marriage.

Even though this is a rare case, we have this kind of case but we do control and tell them to go for settlement and go back to their matrimonial home.

These are at least, the three reasons marriages are broken. We do have other reasons but these are the major ones I can talk about now.

What Do You Recommend As a Resolve/Settlement Mechanism Against Divorce In Marriages?

I recommend that before people get into marriage, they should know their partners, and know the person they are going for as a partner in marriage.

Because marriage is a long way to go. So, one has to get a person (partner) who understands him or her and who will manage such a person at any given time.

If we have the best choices in marriages, there is a high tendency for a marriage to be a successful one but if one does not have the right partner, the marriage may not stay long.

Choosing a (right) partner is also a mechanism for reducing divorce.

Secondly, I recommend that the wives also have something to be doing in this economic difficulty Nigerians are facing.

Economic issues are even the major reason why marriages are broken now. You will find a situation where a woman wakes up in the morning and finds out that her husband has run away and she will not know where he is or where he will be found.

We have many cases in which the husband runs away and the wife cannot reach him on the phone, and she is left with children (to cater for). In our own experience, we observe that it (such development) is part of the economic hardships.

I recommend that the wives be doing business or working too, so that husband and wife can have two hands trying to manage the family so that each of them can contribute to managing the family.

Thirdly, I recommend that if you do not have a strong business or a good job, don’t go for marriage, because you end up causing trouble to another person or expose your children to danger.

Please, let people get ready before going into marriage.

If people have become couples already, please they should tolerate one another, help one another and unite themselves so that the family could be one house. Tolerance, patience, overlooking, and many more.

Fourthly, let the woman (wife) stop hearing some side talks from bad friends; it also causes some marriages to be broken.

Don’t say what Mr A did for his wife, your husband must do it for you too because it may be that your husband is not up to Mr A. Mr A may be earning more than your husband

  • Nigerian mum fumes after a nanny in school b£at her 2-year-old daughter for pooping on herself (video)

Nigerian mum fumes after a nanny in school bat her 2-year-old daughter for pooping on herself (video)

A Nigerian mum has taken to social media to express her anger after a nanny b£at her 2-year-old daughter for pooping on herself in school.

In a video she shared online, the mum said her daughter returned home with bruises on her body and was complaining of pain on her hand. She said upon inquiry, her daughter told her that a minder in her school beat her up because she pooped on herself.

‘’This is my daughter. She is 2 years old. She came back home with bruises on ehr body. I asked her what happened and she said her teacher beat her up. In her words ‘My teacher beat me in the toilet’.  Why did she beat you?  She said she pooped on herself and that is why the teacher beat her. Note, this is not her teacher. It’s her minder which is her nanny. There Nanny in school beat her up because she pooped on her body.

I went to the school this morning. I called the proprietress yesterday, the head teacher, the form teacher yesterday. I called some other teachers. I sent them videos. Even the proprietress, she was shocked because this is a school with a rule that no one should cane on the kids, talkless of a two years old child that pooped on her body” She said

She said the nanny claimed she used a pencil to beat up her daughter.

She mentioned that she visited the school this morning with a belt so she could also place some marks on the nanny but on getting to the school, she was told that the lady had been dismissed.

  • President Tinubu Needs To Urgently Tell Nigerians His True Name, Academic Records And Save Nigeria From Global Embarrassment – Peter Obi

The Labour Party’s Presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has urged President Bola Tinubu to tell Nigerians his true name and clear the air over the controversy around his academic certificates.

The former governor of Anambra State said this on Tuesday in a press conference in Abuja and asked Tinubu to provide clear details about the schools he attended, whether he participated in the National Youth Service Corps, and if he changed his name at any point.

“Mr Tinubu should tell the nation his true name, the school he attended, where he served, and the certificate he obtained. He must do this task once and now,” Obi said.

“The controversy is unnecessary just as the implicit global embarrassment could have been avoided. In my opinion, Chief Bola Tinubu should have saved the nation and himself this protracted embarrassment and undue anxiety.

“Even this late in the day, however, Chief Bola Tinubu still owes the nation and the world a simple debt of obligation which only he can discharge. I call on him to immediately and personally mount the rostrum of his present high office to perform a simple task once and for all time.

“He should re-introduce himself to the nation he governs and to the world for the avoidance of further doubt,” Obi said.

The former Anambra State governor said President Tinubu should let the world know his name, his place of birth, his parentage, the primary and secondary schools he attended with dates as well as the actual universities he attended and certificates obtained and should indicate clearly where and when he did his National Youth Service.

He said, “In addition, if at any time he has had a change of name, he should clearly state so and the circumstances. That, in itself, is no crime. This simple task should take no more than a few minutes. It requires no affidavits, prolonged court processes, spokespersons, agents or surrogates.

“This task is one which only Chief Bola Tinubu himself through a direct personal statement can perform. He must perform this task urgently in order to lay to rest, once and for the last time, the many lingering doubts and valid speculations about his true identity.”

Obi who is currently challenging President Tinubu’s victory at the Supreme Court, said a leader cannot outsource a clear unambiguous personal statement about his identity to political surrogates, official spokespersons, lawyers or any other persons no matter how highly placed.

He insisted that a matter of the personal identity of a leader is too sensitive and central to the functions of the office he currently occupies to be trifled with, outsourced or disguised under the cloak of officialdom, as it is also about integrity, morality, values and the rule of law that defines the character of the Nation and its people.

“In his present capacity as a leader of a nation of over 200m Nigerians, his true identity is a matter of grave national and international interest. The people deserve to know with certainty the true identity of their leader and this overrides whatever rights he may have to personal privacy. In addition, the international community deserves to know the true identity of the person with whom they will engage on Nigeria.

“Having stood for an election to the elevated public office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Bola Tinubu has implicitly undertaken to cede the rights of a private citizen in favour of a life of open disclosure of his true identity, and other circumstances that may be of public interest.

“His personal integrity demands no less. The legitimacy of the office he currently occupies demands that much and even more. Respect for the integrity and esteem of the Nigerian nation within the community of nations makes it even more incumbent and compulsory. It is time to do the right thing,” Obi said.

  • PDP alleges INEC allocated votes to Gov Sule in Nasarawa election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa on Wednesday accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of allocating votes to Governor Abdullahi Sule in the March 18 governorship election in the state.

The state’s governorship election petition tribunal headed by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi on October 2 nullified Sule’s victory in the election and declared David Ombugadu of the PDP as the duly elected governor of the state.

In its announcement on March 20, INEC said Sule scored 347,209 votes while his PDP rival got 283,016 votes in the exercise.

In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Hamza, the party challenged INEC to tell the people of Nasarawa how it arrived at the number of votes allocated to the governor.

The party recalled that the majority judgment of the tribunal invalidated the commission’s declaration of Sule as the winner of the election.

He stressed the need for INEC to clarify the alleged discrepancy in the vote count during the election.

The statement read: “In his minority judgment, Hon. Justice Ibrahim Mashi ruled that Sule scored only 295,402 votes as against the inflated votes of 347,209 freely given to him by INEC.

“The same minority judgment said Ombugadu scored 291, 603 as against the suppressed votes of 283,016 allocated to him by INEC.

“The question begging for answer is where did INEC get the 51,807 votes margin it generously allocated to Sule and returned him as the elected governor of Nasarawa State based on the ruling of the same minority judgment?.”

  • Michigan crowd cheers Palestine after Hamas kills Jews

Hundreds of residents gathered Tuesday at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, Michigan, to protest against Israel and support Palestine after Hamas killed 1,200 Jews.

Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, shared video footage on X, formerly Twitter, from Tuesday’s pro-Palestine rally in Michigan.

“Pro-Palestine rally underway in Dearborn, Michigan as people rally behind Palestine after Hamas launched an attack on Israel,” he said in a caption accompanying the video. “Community members gathered at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center to protest against Israel.”

According to Rugg, one of the children at the pro-Palestine rally held a sign that read, “Israel is killing children like me” with “red paint splattered” across the sign. Rugg also noted that Democratic State Rep. Alabas Farhat was one of the speakers featured at Tuesday’s rally.

According to FOX2 Detroit, Tuesday’s rally, which came just days after Hamas terrorists killed at least 1,200 Israelis, lasted roughly two hours and featured calls of “Free free Palestine, led by Amer Zahr, the president of New Generation for Palestine. Zahr claimed that Saturday’s devastating attack by Hamas terrorists against Israel was not unprovoked, but was an attack in response to 75 years of alleged Jewish oppression against Palestinians.

“We are not ashamed to stand for a free Palestine,” said Zahr.” This is not complicated, this is simply racism, apartheid, occupation, and ethnic cleansing. And that is what we are here today to protest, that’s what we are here today to say we stand against. It’s been going on since 1948.”

Fox2 Detroit reported that Zahr and other rally speakers indicated that the current violence in the Middle East should not be celebrated. “We are a room full of love, full of hope, full of faith,” Zahr said. “We have a homeland, we love our people. We love justice.”

However, another rally speaker spoke against the Jewish nation of Israel, stating, “They left a fire in our hearts that will burn that state until its demise.”

During Tuesday’s rally in Dearborn, David Finkel, a member of Jewish Voice for Peace-Detroit, also spoke strongly against Israel. He said, “Stop the siege of Gaza. End the occupation and Israeli apartheid. Free Palestine.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said it cannot win the war against corruption alone, but through the collective efforts of every Nigerian.

The Commission stated this on Tuesday, when it received Post-Graduate Auditing and Forensic Management Students of Nile University at the Commission’s Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

Represented by the Acting Director, Public Affairs Department, Wilson Uwujaren, the Acting EFCC Chairman, Abdukarim Chukkol, said, “Fighting corruption is not for EFCC alone, because no matter what we do on our own, we can’t win this war without the buying in of the people, and young people like you.

“You have a role to play in this exercise. One of our former Chairmen said that one of the most important stakeholders that we have in fighting corruption are the citizens, and you are all citizens, as you have a great role to play in this fight.”

The Acting EFCC boss further highlights that corruption is one of the problems that is affecting the progress of Nigeria.

“…there is nowhere you look at in our society today that you can’t find evidence of corruption. Our nation is highly blessed in terms of resources, materials resources, but despite the potentials that we have as a nation, we have not been able to make progress because of corruption,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Media & Publicity Unit of the EFCC, ACE1 Dele Oyewale, stressed the need for new Ideas in driving the anti-corruption fight.

He specifically called for new insights through digital applications, creative resistance to corruption and musical engagements of youths and other Nigerians to shun all shades of corruption.

Oyewale said, “We need fresh thinking to tackle corrupt practices. As youths, digital interventions, creative resistance to graft and musical re-orientation are important.

“The task of fighting economic and financial crimes is a task for everyone, because we are all suffering the effects of corruption across the country, we should also be involved in fighting it”.
