  • Wife of US Rep. Joe Wilson jammed medicine and water into 98-year-old mom’s mouth, sheriff’s report says

The wife of U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., forcibly jammed medicine into her 98-year-old mother’s mouth with a fork and then flooded her mouth with water “until she was choking,” according to a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department incident report.

The Sept. 29 incident, which the report described as “an assault,” was witnessed by two medical technicians at the Columbia Presbyterian Community care center Lexington County, according to the report.

The State Media Co. had asked to see a copy of the sheriff’s report early last week. But an initial copy of the report, apparently written by Deputy W.C. Aiken, was not released until Monday afternoon. A letter from the Sheriff’s Department accompanying the report indicated a more detailed report may be forthcoming.

In addition to being the longtime wife of Joe Wilson, Roxanne Wilson is the mother of South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.

The report said that on the afternoon of Sept. 29, facility director Cindy Robbins told a deputy that two medical technicians “had witnessed an assault by Roxanne Wilson on her mother, Martha Dusenbury.”

One medical technician who witnessed the incident said that when Roxanne Wilson arrived at the facility, staff told her that Dusenbury did not take her medicine and “kept spitting it out,” the report said.

At that point, “Roxanne got the medicine and Martha kept stating she did not want to take it. Roxanne then told Martha, ‘Your (sic) going to take this damn medicine’ and forced it into her mouth with a fork,” the report said.

Then “Roxanne … began forcing water into Martha’s mouth until she was choking … at that point, Roxanne then turned around and stated, ‘See there she took it,’” the report said.

The deputy then “attempted to speak to Martha but I was told that Martha has dementia. I asked Martha if any of this was true, to which she stated no,” the deputy wrote in the report.

The deputy then said he told Roxanne Wilson that there was an alleged assault “to where she forcibl(y) put medicine and water into her mother’s mouth. Roxanne stated that she never did such thing and stated, ‘I ain’t going there.’”

“I then advised Roxanne that the facility wanted her placed on trespass after the alleged assault. Roxanne stated that she wasn’t going to play this game and continued making several phone calls and that she would stay in the facility until the caregiver arrived,” the incident report said.

The report also said, “Roxanne ultimately left the facility without incident” and said the deputy’s body camera “was activated.”

Spokespersons for Joe Wilson and Alan Wilson had no immediate comment. Jake Moore, Roxanne Wilson’s lawyer, had no immediate comment.

Franklin Fant, CEO of Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina, declined comment Monday afternoon on the sheriff’s report.

“As a health care provider, federal HIPPA privacy rules prohibit us from sharing health care information regarding our residents,” he said. HIPPA stands for a federal law called Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Reports filed by the facility with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control characterized a Sept. 29 incident as “neglect or exploitation, suspected or confirmed abuse.” Under state law, providers are required to report such incidents to DHEC.

  • Otti To Partner Multi-Lateral Agencies To Move Abia forward

    Alex-Otti

The Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti says his administration is committed to partnering with multi-lateral and donor agencies on ways to to move the state forward.

Otti stated this when he received a delegation of the International Organisation For Migration (IOM), an Inter-governmental Organisation led by the representative of the mission to Nigeria, Mr. Victor Lutenco.

The International Organisation for Migration is an inter-governmental organisation that works to uphold the rights and well-being of migrants, foster greater understanding of migration issues and support the sustainable development of communities.

The governor emphasised that the state government is working to curb irregular migration by focusing on infrastructural development of the state to drive its vision of job creation and reducing the level of unemployment among the people.

He further noted that his administration is at the forefront of addressing insecurity through job creation, adding that Abia state under the present administration is actively engaged in 21st century opportunities that would create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

“Abia has 51% unemployment and our major solution is to create jobs for the people. You cannot create jobs with infrastructural decay, lack of ease of doing business,” Governor Otti said.

The Governor, while noting that the state government is supporting SMEs to do more, added that government is creating infrastructure that would make it difficult for people to leave the state.

He listed road infrastructure, electricity, social infrastructure, healthcare delivery system across the three senatorial zones of the state as some of the steps being taking by his government to check irregular migration.

In his speech earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Victor Lutenco, said one of the important priorities of IOM is maximising the contribution of migration to development, pointing out that in the context of the Governor’s transformation agenda, the work of IOM can be highly relevant and complementary.

He said the organisation assists in the development of policies and strategies for effective migration management, promote linkages between migration and development, plays crucial role in providing humanitarian aide to migrants in crisis situation and to displaced population among other services.

He said that they came to Abia because they found the Governor as an embodiment of trust and the new face of development and used the opportunity to seek partnership with the state towards achieving its objectives.

  • ‘Hatchet job’ – Atiku tackles BBC over report on Tinubu’s CSU certificate saga

    Atiku

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Wednesday night faulted the British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) report on President Bola Tinubu’s Chicago State University saga.

The BBC had in a report published by its Global Disinformation Team said there was no evidence the president altered the information in the documents he presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the February 25 election.

The British media organization said the Social Security Number in the transcript from CSU matched what it had in other documents in which Tinubu’s gender was marked as male, among other discoveries that cleared the president on the forgery allegation.

However, in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu, the PDP candidate described the report as part of “a hatchet job,” aimed at turning the tide in Tinubu’s favour.

The former Vice President stressed that the BBC report confirmed his earlier warning on the Tinubu administration’s plans to unleash its full propaganda programme on Nigerians.

The statement read: “Sometime last week when the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) issued a final warning to Arise News TV, we pointed out that the Tinubu administration was on the verge of launching a full-blown propaganda and also intimidating ‘uncooperative’ media houses into discrediting and downplaying the CSU scandal. Sadly, we never imagined that it would be the BBC that would become the willing tool.

“It is unconscionable, appalling, and preposterous that in this current information age, a foreign medium of repute could try to bamboozle Nigerians with a jaundiced report when the details are clear for everyone to see. Thank God, young Nigerians have begun filing complaints against the hack writers who decided to soil their names for a bowl of porridge.

“We are not ignorant of the machinations of the BBC and its bias towards the current government. It is unfortunate that the BBC is not upholding the same standards as they would uphold in the UK where a Prime Minister was forced out of office for hosting a party during COVID-19. In 2009, columnist Mehdi Hasan wrote in the New Statesman that the BBC was biased ‘towards power and privilege, tradition and orthodoxy.’

“It is no wonder that in the last year, the only news medium that was given exclusive access to interview Tinubu was the BBC. It is sickening that the BBC has decided to surrender its platform to a man who was accused of illegal drug trafficking in the United States.

“In the so-called fact-check report, the BBC decided to bury in the last paragraphs the fact that Tinubu claimed to have attended Government College, Lagos in 1970 when the school was established in 1974. Why didn’t these so-called fact-checkers reflect it on their headline?

“What is the essence of the report when it failed to uncover the most critical questions? If this report was aimed at fact-checking, it should have mentioned the year the certificate was obtained by Tinubu from CSU and if the one he submitted to INEC is the same one he received from CSU.

“Tinubu said at Chatham House that he had received a replacement from CSU when the school said in unambiguous terms that he had not done so. What was the date he applied for his INEC replacement certificate from CSU, and when was it issued to him?

“The investigation was clearly carried out with a predetermined goal, which was to clear Tinubu. But let us ask the BBC if they would employ anyone who has had a case of drug trafficking in the US before and if he had three dates of birth in his official records as well as two different genders as well as attending a secondary school before it was established.”

  • Biden exchanged 29,000 emails with family businesses while VP

In a recent revelation, documents from the U.S. National Archives indicate that during the Obama administration, the office of then-Vice President Joe Biden exchanged a staggering number of emails with his family members and their associated business firms.

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, procured through America First Legal, highlighted that Biden communicated through his official vice presidential email with his son Hunter Biden, his brother Jim Biden, and their businesses.

The number of emails exchanged between Biden, his family members, and their businesses, totaling over 29,000, challenged statements made by Biden during his 2020 presidential campaign.

America First Legal highlighted the lack of separation, stating, “Our lawsuit against the National Archives just unearthed that Biden’s Vice Presidential office emailed with Hunter and Jim Biden over 29,000 times. So much for that wall…”

The detailed breakdown includes 19,335 emails with Hunter Biden’s private equity firm, Rosemont Seneca; 4,243 emails with Hunter Biden; 1,751 with Jim Biden; and 3,738 with Jim Biden’s Lion Hall Group consulting firm. According to The Daily Wire, the Lion Hall Group allegedly has connections with the Chinese Communist Party.

In 2019, Joe Biden asserted, “I have never talked with my son or my brother or anyone else in the distant family about their business interests, period.” He also stated that there was no hint of scandal during his tenure as vice president during the Obama administration and emphasized the separation his presidential administration would have from private matters.

However, the information obtained by the non-profit law group America First Legal, spearheaded by former members of the Trump administration, appears to contradict Biden’s claims. “These damning numbers further confirm that there was never a wall separating the Office of the Vice President and Hunter Biden’s business endeavors,” the group wrote on X.

The content of the 29,000 emails currently remains a mystery. According to The Daily Wire, the National Archives noted that it will take over 15 months to process all of the information in the emails. Meanwhile, all of the named parties in the FOIA request are currently subjects of a GOP-led investigation into alleged influence-peddling operations within the Biden family.

On Tuesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylore Greene (R-GA) of the House Oversight Committee shared America First Legal’s post on social media, adding, “The Big Guy was definitely involved. Heavily.”

In addition to the FOIA lawsuit by America First Legal, a separate lawsuit against the National Archives by the Southeastern Legal Foundation aims to obtain approximately 5,400 emails from pseudonym accounts linked to then Vice President Joe Biden, focusing on potential discussions with Hunter Biden about foreign business matters from 2017 onwards, according to The Daily Wire.

  • NSCDC, Police Renew Commitment To Combat Crime In FCT

    Olusola-Odumosu-CP-Haruna-Garba

The FCT Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and its Police counterpart have reaffirmed their commitment to working together effectively to combat crime in the nation’s capital.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Asci Okomanyi Comfort, announced the renewed collaboration.

This decision came after a courtesy visit by the FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Haruna Garba, at the FCT Police Command headquarters in Garki, Abuja.

Odumosu explained that the visit aimed to strengthen the existing relationship between the two agencies and promote peaceful coexistence and synergy, especially among their junior cadres.

The FCT Commandant expressed gratitude for the warm reception and cooperation he had received from the Police since assuming office. He emphasized the need for a similar harmonious relationship at lower levels for more effective field operations, considering that officers from both agencies frequently interact in the field.

stressed that good inter-agency relationships are vital for national security interests, enabling better interaction and credible intelligence sharing. He reiterated that the joint efforts to combat crime and criminal activities in the FCT and its environs would be more successful if all parties worked together to ensure public safety, protect lives, and secure public infrastructure in the Capital Territory.

“You have shown me warm acceptance, and since I assumed office, the cooperation I have enjoyed from you is admirable, and I wish to thank you for that.

“However, I want to appeal that we use our good offices to educate our officers and men on the need for this kind of synergy amongst them.

“The same way we enjoy cordial and harmonious relationship at our level, let us ensure that the same exist at the lower levels for ease of operation because they are constantly meeting on the field.”

In response, CP Haruna Garba affirmed his commitment to maintaining a harmonious working relationship between both services. He noted the importance of inter-agency cooperation and condemned unhealthy rivalry, emphasizing that no agency should claim dominance or superiority over another.

“To tackle the security challenges of the nation, we have to cooperate just like two hands washing each other for better cleaning of the hands. No institution or agency is superior to the other; we are one and the same and must work together to achieve the same goal,” he stated.

CP Garba appreciated the Corps Commandant for the visit and assured him of strong synergy to enhance security in the FCT and its surroundings. This collaborative effort between the NSCDC and the FCT Police Command is expected to strengthen security and improve the safety of residents in the Federal Capital Territory.
