  • Israel kills Hamas Intelligence Chief in missile strike

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says it killed Hamas’ head of intelligence on Monday in Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza.

According to the Times of Israel, the IDF did not provide additional details on the strike that killed the terrorist leader, including its exact location or the top Hamas member’s name.

The IDF shared multiple videos of strikes in the Gaza Strip, including the attack targeting the head of intelligence.

The strike comes just over one week after Hamas terrorists attacked Israel, killing 1,300 people – primarily civilians – and wounding thousands more. The terrorists also took elderly, women and children hostages, but it is unclear how many people were taken.

According to the Times of Israel, Israeli officials have notified the families of nearly 200 people that their loved ones were taken hostage, the IDF said.

Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, and IDF spokesman, said the military is working to determine the hostages exact locations in Gaza.

“We are making valiant efforts to try to understand where the hostages are in Gaza, and we have such information,” Hagari said. “We will not carry out an attack that would endanger our people.”

Among the known hostages are infants, special needs children and elderly people with chronic illnesses.

As Israeli officials work to find the hostages, the United States military is preparing about 2,000 American troops to potentially deploy to support Israel, U.S. defense officials said, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The selected troops are currently stationed in the Middle East and other locations, including Europe, officials said, adding the troops are not expected to serve in combat roles. Instead, they will provide advising and medical support.

It is unclear what could trigger the deployment.

This was a breaking news story. The details were periodically updated as more information became available.

  • Akpabio Behind My Sack, Planning To Remove Orji Kalu, 4 Others Next – Elisha Abbo Alleges

    ELISHA-ABBO

Adamawa Senator, Elisha Abbo has fingered the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio of being behind his removal by the Court of Appeal.

Speaking after the court nullified his election into the Senate on Monday at his Abuja home, the controversial senator said Akpabio’s next move is to remove the former Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Kalu and four others.

He did not mention the other four despite repeated probing.

Recall the court on Monday nullified the decision of the lower court which affirmed his election in a unanimous decision.

The court held that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the election, Amos Yohanna was the winner.

Abbo described the upper court decision as a coup yet alleging that, “I have it from a reliable source that myself and four other senators within the fold of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be removed from the Senate through rulings from the courts, all because of working against the emergence of Akpabio as President of the 10th Senate.

“I won’t mention the names of all the four other ones targeted but the next in line is Senator Orji Uzor Kalu,” he said.

He said he won the election with over 11,000 votes.

“The court judgement is strange and the judiciary needs to please remain the last hope of the common man,” Abbo stated.

He appealed to his supporters to remain calm even as he vowed to recontest in 2027.

Akpabio is yet to react to the allegation as efforts to reach him were unsuccessful.

Abbo, like Orji Kalu, was one of the few senators in the APC, who did not support Akpabio’s bid for the position of the Senate president in June.

  • BREAKING: Federal Judge Issues Gag Order On Donald Trump In Election Interference Case

A Washington D.C. federal judge on Monday prohibited former President Donald Trump from making statements publicly targeting Jack Smith, prosecutors, court staff or their families, or about witnesses or their testimony.

“First Amendment protections yield to the administration of justice and to the protection of witnesses,” Judge Tanya Chutkan said Monday as she issued the gag order.

“His presidential candidacy does not give him carte blanche to vilify public servants who are simply doing their job.”

The decision from U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan followed a lengthy hearing in federal court in Washington, D.C., regarding a request from Smith and his team to limit what Trump can say about the case brought against him by the Justice Department.

According to CBS News, the prosecutors asked D.C. District Judge Tanya Chutkan last month to impose an order to prevent the former president from making “extrajudicial statements that present a serious and substantial danger of materially prejudicing this case.”

  • EFCC arraigns ‘Mama Boko Haram’ for alleged N150m fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arraigned Aisha Wakil aka Mama Boko Haram at the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri, for alleged N150 million fraud.

She was arraigned alongside Tahiru Saidu Daura and Prince Lawal Shoyode on a two-count charge of conspiracy and cheating.

Justice Umaru Fadawu, thereafter, adjourned the matter and ordered the remand of the defendants at a correctional centre in the state.

  • Patient declared dead wakes up in UK hospital

A yet-to-be-identified patient in the United Kingdom, who was attended to and declared dead by ambulance workers, has woken up after being taken to the Darlington Memorial Hospital.

However, the patient’s medical condition, as at the time of filing this report, is yet to be ascertained, the Daily Mail has reported.

Meanwhile, the North East Ambulance Service has apologised to the family of the patient and launched an investigation into the incident.

The Director of Paramedicine, NEAS, Andrew Hodge, said, “As soon as we were made aware of this incident, we opened an investigation and contacted the patient’s family. We are deeply sorry for the distress that this has caused them. A full review of this incident is being undertaken, and we are unable to comment any further at this stage.”

This came just months after reports accused NEAS ambulance workers of allegedly “hiding medical errors and withholding evidence at the coroner’s inquests.”

  • Race-based missing persons alert created in Calif.

Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed legislation creating an “Ebony Alert” that makes California the first state in the United States to implement an alert system specifically aimed at aiding in the swift recovery of missing black children and young black women ages 12 to 25.

California’s “Ebony Alert” is similar to the widely recognized “Amber Alert” but with a more narrow focus determined by race.

The decision to increase the age range to 25 marks an increase from previous laws that restricted alerts to individuals aged 17 or younger. On January 1, California’s progressive law took full effect, having already gained unanimous approval from both chambers of California’s legislature.

“California is taking bold and needed action to locate missing black children and black women in California,” Democratic state Sen. Steven Bradford, the principal force behind the legislation, said. “Our black children and young women are disproportionately represented on the lists of missing persons. This is heartbreaking and painful for so many families and a public crisis for our entire state.”

Citing data from the Black and Missing Foundation, Bradford claimed that 38% of children reported missing in the U.S. are black, and 40% of sex trafficking victims were black women.

Bradford pointed to what he believes is a pattern of labeling missing black children as “runaways” rather than “missing,” rendering them ineligible for Amber Alerts or the spotlight of media attention.

The “Ebony Alert” reportedly seeks to bridge this gap, facilitating communication between law enforcement and the State Highway Patrol to flash notifications on highway signs. Bradford also emphasized the new alert system’s function in spurring media outlets to more widely circulate details of the missing individual.

According to The Washington Examiner, the law creating the “Ebony Alert” was championed by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People California Hawaii State Conference.

Applauding this initiative, CA/HI NAACP President Rick L. Callender explained that the new law is a “historic breakthrough” that will ensure “black children and young black women will receive the attention and protection they need when they are reported missing.”

Callender added, “This is a great first step to mitigating the racial inequities when it comes to black women and children when they go missing.”

According to The Washington Examiner, the state of California has multiple other alert systems, including the “Amber Alert” for missing children, the “Silver Alert” for missing seniors and individuals with disabilities, the “Feather Alert,” for missing Native Americans, and the “Blue Alert” for individuals who attack members of law enforcement.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday upturned the election of Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo.

Senator Abbo, a candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the March 25 at the National Assembly election to represent Adamawa Northern Senatorial District.

The Court accordingly ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Senator Abbo and issue same to Rev. Amos Yohanna Kumai of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reacting to the Monday judgement, Senator Abbo on his verified Facebook page, said, “The Court Appeal in Abuja just voided my election. The gang up has temporarily worked. I will soon address the press.”
Senator Abbo became infamous when he brutalised a nursing mother at an Abuja sex toy shop.

Delivering judgment in the application, the trial judge, Justice Samira Bature, found Abbo guilty and ordered him to pay the sum to the young woman.
