  • Supreme Court sides with Biden on gun control on ‘ghost guns’

The Supreme Court vacated a lower court ruling Monday, enabling the Biden administration to continue to enforce regulations against “ghost gun” sales.

According to The Associated Press, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Blackhawk Manufacturing and Defense Distributed, two gun manufacturers in Texas, must comply with the Biden administration’s regulations that are intended to reduce the difficulty of tracing ghost guns, which are firearms that lack serial numbers.

The Supreme Court vacated the U.S. Judge Reed O’Connor’s Sept. 14 injunction that prevented the Biden administration from enforcing a federal regulation implemented in 2022 to target the sale of ghost guns.

According to The Hill, the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision marks the second time the court has intervened to allow the Biden administration to enforce its regulations against ghost gun sales. The Supreme Court’s latest intervention came after the Biden administration claimed that lower courts ignored the Supreme Court’s authority and prior ruling against ghost guns.

“The application to vacate injunction presented to Justice Alito and by him referred to the Court is granted,” the Supreme Court order states. “The September 14, 2023 order of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, case No. 4:22-cv-691, is vacated.”

The Supreme Court’s first intervention on behalf of the Biden administration’s regulation against ghost guns occurred in August, when the Supreme Court handed the Biden administration a temporary victory by pausing a lower court’s ruling against the ghost gun regulation until the Biden administration could present a full appeal.

In court filings for the most recent Supreme Court intervention, President Joe Biden’s Justice Department described the lower court’s rulings as “extraordinary and unprecedented.” The Justice Department argued that the Supreme Court’s first ruling that the Biden administration could continue enforcing the 2022 ghost gun regulation should have been followed by lower courts.

“The district court and the Fifth Circuit have effectively countermanded this Court’s authoritative determination about the status quo that should prevail during appellate proceedings in this case,” the Justice Department wrote. “In so doing, the lower courts openly relied on arguments that this Court had necessarily rejected to grant relief that this Court had withheld.”

Last year, the Biden administration implemented the ghost gun regulation, expanding federal mandates such as background check requirements, records of gun sales, and serial numbers pertaining to ghost guns, according to The Hill.

The regulation expanded the definition of a firearm to include unfinished parts of firearms, such as a handgun frame or a long gun receiver in order to allow guns to be more easily tracked. The controversial mandate pertains to ghost guns made from gun kits, 3D printers, or from the assembly of individual firearm parts.

The Biden administration’s full appeal is currently moving forward with the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.

  • Britney Spears alleges that she had an abortion after being impregnated by Justin Timberlake

Britney Spears alleges that she had an abortion after being impregnated by Justin Timberlake

In what has been described as a bombshell, American music star, Britney Spears reportedly narrated how she was impregnated by her ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, who she subsequently had an abortion for in her upcoming memoir.

Sources who have access to the book told TMZ that Britney felt Justin was the love of her life when they were together, and around late 2000 she learned she was pregnant.

She also stated that she was raised not to get an abortion, partly due to religion and what she learned from her family.

Britney Spears alleges that she had an abortion after being impregnated by Justin Timberlake

Britney further revealed that while she wanted to have Justin’s baby, she was “conflicted” and after some difficult, emotional discussions, they both agreed getting an abortion was the right decision. Both were around 19 at the time.

Justin and Britney dated between 1999 and 2002. Insiders claimed that it was quite serious as Britney wanted to marry Justin, but that obviously did not work out.

The decision to have an abortion haunted Britney for years, something she spoke about in private. Britney ended up having her first child, Sean Preston, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline in 2005 and she had Jayden James in 2006.

  • Tinubu-Led Nigerian Government Submits Application For Fresh $1.5bilion, $80million Loans From World Bank, AfDB

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has stated that Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved an application to secure a budget support loan worth $1.5billion and an additional $80 million from the World Bank and the African Development Bank (AfDB) respectively.

The Minister said the funds will be utilised for various projects in crucial sectors of the nation’s economy. Adding that Nigeria qualified for the “relatively cheap” loans given its “macro-economic moves” in the past couple of months since President Bola Tinubu assumed office.

Wale Edun, while speaking with State House Correspondents, noted that the FG would receive $1.5bn as a whole before the end of the year, provided it fulfilled its end of the deal.

He said, “Council approved today the application for financing from the World Bank. And in particular, the International Development Association, which is the virtually free or zero-interest lending arm or financing arm of the World Bank.

“The total is $1.5bn. The world today is one of the high-interest rates as the developed world looks to fight inflation. They do it by restricting money, and keeping interest rates high so that you can get inflation down.

“That means that interest rates for everybody else become not just high but very painful, if not unaffordable within that context.”

Edun clarified that Nigeria took macroeconomic moves and tough decisions to restore balance in its economy, warranting support from multilateral development banks.

“The bold, brave, courageous and decisive measures that Mr President has taken are being rewarded by processing for Nigeria $1.5bn of immediate financing, which, provided that we do everything on our side, will be in before the end of the year.

“It is based on that the World Bank is willing to consider and to process on our behalf $1.5bn of concessional financing, relatively cheap financing and financing that will be dispersed relatively quickly.

“And it comes in one go. It doesn’t drip as will be done for a project and is just to support the reform effort. And that was what was presented to the Federal Executive Council, and the members approved that we go ahead with that financing given that it is affordable,” said Edun.

The former Lagos Finance Commissioner said lags would exist between the cause and effect of the recent reform.

Although some effects are in place, such as the relative reduction in smuggling and rising domestic production in some areas, ‘it takes time before the full benefits are in,” he noted.
The Finance Minister also revealed that the Council approved $80million financing from the African Development Bank.

He explained, “This financing is for a project in Ekiti called the Ekiti Knowledge Zone Project. EKZ is basically to support young people and their quest to take on technology to use it to be employed, trained and benefit from being part of the knowledge economy, being part of the technological wave that is present very much in Nigeria, which is becoming a bigger and bigger share of the economy.

“The bold, brave, courageous and decisive measures that Mr President has taken are being rewarded by processing for Nigeria $1.5 billion of immediate financing, provided that we do everything on our side before the end of the year.

“So, it’s $80 million to help the young people in the sector of the knowledge economy, technology and communications generally.”

  • Benue PDP suspects Gov Alia of telling DSS to detain its state spokesman

Two suspected ISIS commanders arrested in Abuja

The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cried out that the Department of State Services (DSS) has taken its State Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom into its custody.

The group claimed that the DSS had invited Iortyom to its office for what it said “was termed a chat with the State Director of the Service”.

The state PDP in a statement on Monday by Adzua Ashongo, Vice Chairman, Benue North East (Zone A) of the PDP said the state governor, Hyacinth Alia may have directed the DSS to take Iortyom into custody.

The party said “with the recent remarks by the incumbent Governor Hyacinth Alia, it is difficult not to link him with this sudden invitation of Mr Iortyom by the DSS and his, possibly, imminent detention”.

Narrating events relating to Iortyom, the party said “earlier today, the Department of State Services (DSS) invited the Benue State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for what was termed a chat with the State Director of the Service.

“Though the reason for the invitation was not stated, I, along with the Media Consultant of the party, C T Hwande and representative of the State Legal Adviser, accompanied Mr Iortyom to honour the invitation.

“We arrived at the DSS headquarters in Makurdi at exactly 12:47pm and were warmly received by one Danlami Imam, who we later discovered is in charge of the Political Desk of the Command.

“Ten minutes after our arrival, Mr Imam returned to us and asked us to leave as the Director who demanded for the invitation of the PDP Spokesman was busy with other official engagements and would not be seeing us immediately. He said he would not want to make it look like Bemgba Iortyom was being detained by the Service.

“We left the DSS premises and barely 20 minutes after we arrived the Party Secretariat, there was a call from the same Mr Imam requesting that we returned to the command headquarters, indicating that, the Director was now available and ready to meet with Mr Iortyom.

“Strange as this sounded, but as a law abiding citizen, Bemgba Iortyom drove back to the DSS headquarters, this time, the State Treasurer of the PDP, Philip Bem Gbe had joined us.

“As soon as we arrived, at about 2:11pm, two gentlemen walked up to us, claiming to be from the office of the Director and took Bemgba Iortyom away. All efforts by us to accompany him failed as we were told that only Bemgba Iortyom was invited by the Command.

“And up until 6:17pm when we were asked to leave the premises of the command this evening, the whereabouts of Mr Bemgba Iortyom were not known; neither were we told if he had been detained or not.

“And because we were not allowed access to him, one can not say, for sure, if his invitation was as a result of a petition written against him or a complaint from any quarter or better still, was in a friendly chat with the Commands Director.

“One thing is however certain; it is not common for the DSS to invite anyone without a reason, let alone, the Publicity Secretary of an opposition party, and someone in the quality of Bemgba Iortyom who fearlessly bares his mind as an opposition spokesperson and remains one of the most vocal voices against the administration of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in Benue State.

“And with the recent remarks by the incumbent Governor Hyacinth Alia, it is difficult not to link him with this sudden invitation of Mr Iortyom by the DSS and his, possibly, imminent detention”.

  • ‘Urban Combat in a Densely Populated Area is Hell on Earth’ — An Interview with Chris Farrell

    From Hungarian Conservative:

Your panel discussion was about the Biden administration and the future of the Middle East after the terror attack. It seems that the Biden administration, along with nearly the whole world, is supporting Israel now. What is your opinion on this matter?

This is a very schizophrenic situation: the Biden administration says all the right words and they even dispatched an aircraft carrier battle group, a huge navy force. But that’s largely a publicity stunt. That is not a real military threat to anyone. It’s just sort of a demonstration. But while they say things about protecting Israel, they’re frantically engaged in an effort to support Iran, who we know is trying to build a nuclear weapon.

  • Hunter Biden judge dismisses gun charge as indictment looms

U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika dismissed a gun charge last week that was originally part of the Hunter Biden plea deal that collapsed in July.

According to The Associated Press, Noreika’s official removal of the gun-possession charge against Biden comes as the charge has been replaced with a three-count indictment against the president’s son.

Biden, age 53, has been charged for purchasing and possessing a revolver for roughly 11 days in 2018, when he was struggling with drug addiction. The three-count indictment against Biden stems from his violation of regulations against drug users possessing guns.

Biden pleaded “not guilty” to his federal gun charges at Wilmington federal courthouse earlier this month when he was arraigned for his three-count indictment. Biden’s lawyers have repeatedly claimed that the president’s son is not guilty of breaking the law and have pushed back against what they describe as a “partisan attack on our system of justice by right-wing Republicans.”

Initially, Biden agreed to a plea deal that would have required him to plead guilty to two tax misdemeanors in order to prevent him from potentially facing a prison sentence for a felony gun charge, according to court filings by the Department of Justice.

However, Biden’s plea deal with prosecutors collapsed in July after Noreika questioned a provision Biden and his lawyer demanded be included in the plea deal. According to Bloomberg, Biden refused to follow through with the plea deal unless the federal government agreed to end any further prosecution of the president’s son.

In the aftermath of the plea deal collapse, Noreika dismissed Biden’s misdemeanor tax charges in anticipation of Biden’s federal gun charge. The Associated Press reported that Special Counsel David Weiss has not filed any additional tax counts against Biden.

  • Blow For LGBTQ+ As India’s Supreme Court Rejects Appeal Seeking Legalisation Of Same-Sex Marriage

The Supreme Court of India Tuesday rejected an appeal seeking the legalisation of same-sex marriage across the country.

A group of Lesbian, Gay Bi-sexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) activists approached the top court a few months back seeking a declaration that the government’s failure to recognise same-sex unions amounts to a violation of LGBTQ people’s constitutional rights.

But the legal representatives of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi administration raised objection against the application, saying legalizing same-sex union will cause “havoc” against India’s historical and societal values.

“Living together as partners and having sexual relationship by same-sex individuals … is not comparable with the Indian family unit concept of a husband, a wife and children,” the government told the court.

Ruling on the case, a five-man of the apex court led by Chief Justice Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud declined the activists’ appeal, saying such legalisation remains the exclusive reserve of the legislative arm of government.

“The court, in the exercise of the power of judicial review, must steer clear of matters, particularly those impinging on policy, which fall in the legislative domain,” the judge ruled.

The court, however, advised the government to set up a panel that will look into the rights of same-sex people.

Chandrachud further held that the legislature and the executive should provide protection for all in line with their constitutional fundamental rights, irrespective of their sexual orientation.

“Choosing a life partner is an integral part of choosing one’s course of life.

“Some may regard this as the most important decision of their life. This right goes to the root of the right to life and liberty under Article 21 (of India’s constitution),” the judge held.

  • Man suffers excruciating 3-day er3ction after Viagra overdose

Man suffers excruciating 3-day er3ction after Viagra overdose

A man was left with a painful three-day erection after overdosing on Viagra.

The 46-year-old man, whose identity has been kept secret to save his embarrassment, had to be rushed to the hospital after taking several 50mg sildenafil tablets, the chemical name for Viagra.

Top urologist Dr Andre Brasileiro warned: “Sildenafil, the chemical name for Viagra, is a safe medication. However, like all drugs, it needs to be used under medical guidance. There is a common habit among the population of self-medication, and situations like this are a consequence of it.”

He explained: “When we specifically talk about medication-related causes, in this case, the use of sildenafil in doses above the usual, what happens is that for an erection to occur, the cavernous bodies of the penis need to relax and allow blood to enter.

“When the patient took a higher dose of sildenafil than usual, the relaxation occurred excessively, and the blood that entered the cavernous bodies did not return to circulation, maintaining the erection, which over time becomes very painful.”

He added that medications should be prescribed by a specialist, and self-medication is discouraged for the patient’s safety.
