  • That Math Chick, COO of Achieve Success Tutoring – The US Times

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latisha Jordan.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I became a math tutor at my college’s Mathematics Department despite being ineligible for a work-study position due to my full scholarship. A mistake allowed me to enter the industry for extra income. When the school realized the error and ended my tutoring through the work-study program, I understood my impact on the students.

Although I never planned to become an educator while pursuing a Mathematics and Engineering degree, in 2003, after obtaining my Bachelor’s and Master’s in IT, I applied for an IT position at a community college. They surprised me by offering to teach an introduction to computers course, mandatory for all students. Despite feeling shocked and nervous, I accepted the opportunity.

Teaching the course presented challenges with students from diverse backgrounds, including homeschoolers proficient in computers at a young age, a 55-year-old woman unfamiliar with computers, and a student with limited English proficiency. Successfully teaching this class boosted my confidence and motivated me to pursue a career in education.

Over the years, I held various positions in education, such as Lab Instructor, General Education Instructor, General Education Program Director, Registrar, Dean of Students, and Student Success Coordinator. In 2005, while working at a local college in Nashville, I took on the temporary favor of tutoring a friend’s child for kindergarten preparation.

Little did I know that this experience would inspire me to start three tutoring companies and establish AST, my fourth. The student I helped is now graduating from college with a Nursing degree next month.Latricia Jackson

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

I think the biggest challenge has always been being one of very few successful African Americans in this arena. I have often felt alone with no one to turn to for support and that has made me want to give up on many occasions.

One day I was talking with one of my business coaches and she said if you do not have a village create one so I set out to do just that. Now I have a group of over 300 African American tutoring business owners who work together to support one another in business.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I’m That Math Chick! Math has always been my passion and I love numbers. Although I have a love of Math I also specialize in Engineering and Technology as my background is in all three subject areas. We tutor all subjects with an emphasis on math and science and incorporate STEAM and career and college readiness.

The services that we provide have an integrated approach to help students from beginning to end. They can grow with us at each level and explore different aspects of careers and themselves. This sets us apart from the competition. There’s something for every student at every level.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Don’t STOP! No matter what comes your way keep going because nothing is insurmountable. If you can visualize it then your can achieve it!

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success is only determined by the person who is going after it. No one can decide whether or not you are successful but you!

    What’s next for you?

Continuing to grow our current business while opening up a brick-and-mortar and expanding to new metropolitan areas starting with Charlotte, NC. Creating some amazing STEAM products and services, becoming an industry leader in the STEAM field, and expanding or Coaching and Consulting Program.

  • LUCA’S WORLD ~ Episode C (100) ~ A One-Hundredth Humbling! | The Liberty Beacon

LISTEN TO ARCHIVED SHOW BELOW INTRO ARTICLE

    Your Host: Luca Majno

What an Honor! The one hundredth Episode here with all of you!

And it just so happens that this one is enjoyably different in format, one I wanted because of so many other important aspects of my life coming to the forefront… Much more spiritual in nature, we ‘fly off‘ together into an overview of the show first, along with Native prophecy, and the warnings, we dive into GIVING, a special segment I was looking forward to all week!

And via my youth, per se, off to ‘Sickness V Normality‘ we go, and what a ride it is…

And Selflessness, the ‘coup-de-grace‘ of the show, the main vein component, such a touching story for all to hear.

From my Bird-Buddies and feeding them, to a young child trying to fix a crack in the pavement,

… we touch on ‘One Generation’ and how powerful it can be…

And thus, I show the difficulties in life not too long ago, when true souls ‘dies of a broken heart’, and this tears me up to no end, and it is so important to remember…

The Gifts, our Gifts that we receive, were supposed to be free for all, said Tesla, as a reminder… and I add to that with The Gift of Receiving, my testament to this subject.

SLOW DOWN is the next message I share this week, while I almost burned my right hand severely! What a Teaching! And come to find out the accident itself was a Teaching!

But Intent finds Karma, and it all fits inside Truth… And through the callers, we go a bit everywhere following that segment, touching on the Healing Instinct, and how I saved myself a lot of grief (as I did in my previous healing experience with two cancers…).

An interesting article caught my eye this week about suicides in the military, having to do with ‘divers‘…

The Four Rooms are brought up again, as is Karma, since they are both so vital, and it is such an Honor to share all of this with you this week.

And to finish, I speak of this link I remembered, from 2017 and the XL Pipeline Protest (Water Protectors), and the rat poison (ricin) sprayed on them from above…

  • Md. woman sentenced for killing, dismembering boyfriend and scattering his remains

ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. (TCN) — A 46-year-old woman will spend more than six decades in prison for fatally shooting her boyfriend, mutilating his remains, and scattering them in two different counties.

The St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office announced Aug. 5 that Michelina Goodwin received the maximum allowable sentence of 61 years in prison in connection with the death and dismemberment of a man, identified by WTTG-TV as her boyfriend, 50-year-old James Volodimir Nalborczyk. A jury convicted Goodwin in March of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and the unauthorized disposal of a body.

According to prosecutors, family members reported the victim missing on Dec. 21, 2022, after they had last heard from him earlier that month. Several weeks later, officials determined Nalborczyk was a victim of a homicide, and they identified Goodwin as the primary suspect.

On Jan. 18, 2023, Goodwin reportedly told authorities that during a dispute at their home, she grabbed a firearm and it accidentally went off, killing the victim. The State’s Attorney’s office said Goodwin confessed to dismembering Nalborczyk, and she guided authorities to his remains in remote areas in St. Mary’s and Charles counties.

In a statement, State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling said, “The defendant’s heinous act of shooting the victim in the back pales in comparison to the gruesome details following the murder. After killing the victim, the defendant dismembered him, and scattered his remains throughout our county and a neighboring county.”

  • Fact Check: Kamala Harris didn’t praise the Olympics’ opening ceremony in an X post

Some critics of Vice President Kamala Harris are claiming she posted on X praising the Paris Olympics’ opening ceremony, which generated controversy.

A July 28 X post that included a screenshot of what appeared to be a Harris X post that said, “What an impressive show by all of these beautiful and diverse people at the Opening Ceremony of The Olympics! Director Thomas Jolly did an incredible job, and made France look great! America, this is what we need to strive towards!”

But Harris didn’t post on X with that, or anything else, reacting to the Olympics’ opening ceremony.

The screenshot went viral on Instagram and X. The screenshot appears to have originated July 27 on an X account called Simply Satire.

The fabricated post shows three scenes screenshotted from the July 26 opening ceremony. The ceremony included scenes with performers dressed in drag that conservative lawmakers have criticized, saying they appeared to mock “Tthe Last Supper.” Jolly, the Paris Olympics’ artistic director, said July 28 on French TV that the scene was meant to depict a Dionysian pagan celebration.

We found no evidence that Harris posted the statement on her X accounts, @KamalaHarris, @VP and @KamalaHQ.

When contacted for comment, Harris’ campaign called the post “obviously untrue.”

Social media analytics platform Social Blade shows that Harris’ X account did not delete any posts July 26 or 27. An Aug. 5 review of Harris’ accounts on X, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook showed no posts about the Olympics’ opening ceremony as of that date.

A search of her three X accounts for the term “Olympics” shows that her most recent post on the topic was from 2020. On her @VP X and TikTok accounts, Harris posted in July to thank the USA men’s basketball team for representing the nation at the Summer Games.

The opening ceremony scene sparked discussion among Republicans and religious leaders.

Trump said July 29 on Fox News that the opening ceremony had “scenes of derision and mockery of Christianity.”

Similarly, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., wrote July 27 on X that the opening ceremony was insulting to Christian people.

Social media claims used a fabricated tweet to claim that Harris posted on social media that the Olympics’ Opening Ceremony “made France look great! America, this is what we need to strive towards!” We rate those claims False.

  • The STEAM Queen! CEO of Achieve Success Tutoring – The US Times

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aquarius Cain.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

To be honest, becoming a teacher wasn’t part of my career plan at all. I had this lifelong dream of becoming a Pediatrician because I absolutely adored kids and taking care of them. So, in college, I went all-in on Biology, thinking my degree would lead me down the scientist or doctor path..

But guess what? Medical school happened, and it just didn’t click for me. So there I was, trying to figure out my next move. That’s when I turned to my high school teachers for some guidance and they said trying teaching while I figured things out.

I applied for a teaching gig at my old high school and got offered a Biology teaching position smack in the middle of the school year. Talk about jumping in at the deep end! That first year was a rollercoaster but I realized teaching was my true calling.

So, I kept at it, teaching high school science for a solid six years. Unfortunately, the politics, bullying, and admin harassment in public schools took their toll. My passion for teaching got crushed under all that nonsense. That’s when I said, “Screw this!” I landed a job at a tutoring company, but my first paycheck was $25 That was the last straw. I quit and decided to start my own tutoring business.

Though I detoured from my childhood dream I was pushed to start my own business, making a real difference as a tutor on my own terms.

    aquarius cain

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

The biggest challenge that I think propelled me to where I am today was being bullied and harassed by administrators and the superintendent of the last school system that I taught in.
I was bullied to give students grades and humiliated and shamed by being subjected to false accusations and “teacher timeout” when I would not comply. I stood my ground, never let them see me sweat, and held on to my integrity.

This affected me for years mentally and financially. But, had I not gone through that, I may have never started my own tutoring company and have done so many things in the realm of education. The defining thought to all of that is: they tried to bury me but didn’t know that I was a seed.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I’m the STEAM Queen! Science has always been my passion. I specialize in all things STEAM –including summer camps, workshops, cultivating subscription boxes, etc.

In order to be successful, you have to first know and understand yourself. Ask yourself: What do you specialize in? What do you bring to the table?

Carve out a niche for yourself and do that to the best of your ability. Once you find YOU, then you’ve found success.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success includes happiness. It means being happy and content with the choices that you’ve made and the outcomes of those choices. It’s not measured by what others think, it’s measured by what you think. Success also includes a level of sustainability, in my opinion. If it makes you happy and can “make you money” (sustainability), then you can consider yourself successful.

    What’s next for you?

Fine-tuning the STEAM & College and Career Readiness Niche to become an Industry leader; opening up a Brick & Mortar location; Tutoring Business Start-Up & Expansion Consulting/Coaching

  • The U.S. Is Not Prepared To Fight One Major War, But Three? | The Liberty Beacon

The U.S. Is Not Prepared To Fight One Major War, But Three?

Three Major Wars Are Rapidly Approaching

    21WIRE

Michael Snyder at The End of the American Dream writes…

What in the world has happened to our military?  When I was growing up, I was proud that my father was an officer in the U.S. Navy.  At that time we possessed the most powerful military in the entire world by a wide margin, and as a result nobody wanted to mess with us.  But now everything has changed.  Our military has been transformed into a “woke” joke, and we all saw what happened during the absolutely disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.  We desperately need to get our act together, because war is coming.  In fact, we could soon find ourselves fighting multiple major wars simultaneously.  Unfortunately, a study that was just released by a congressional panel concluded that we are not even ready to fight one major war at this point…

The U.S. military is no longer “prepared” to fight in a major war, according to a new study conducted by a congressional panel.

Though the threats the U.S. is facing are “the most serious and most challenging” it has seen in almost a century, the U.S. defense base is not equipped to meet the moment, according to a report from the Commission on the National Defense Strategy published on Monday. Among the biggest problems outlined in the report are a troubled Pentagon and a failure by the federal government to properly address threats emanating from adversaries like China and Russia.

“The United States last fought a global conflict during World War II, which ended nearly 80 years ago. The nation was last prepared for such a fight during the Cold War, which ended 35 years ago. It is not prepared today,” the commission’s report reads.

    How is this possible?

We spent 820 billion dollars on national defense during the most recent fiscal year.

Where is all of that money going?

Two of the areas that the study really focused on were our “recruiting failures” and our “grossly inadequate” industrial base…

The commission recommended in a 132-page report released Monday that the U.S. overhaul its national defense strategy and $900 billion defense budget to address recruiting failures, a “grossly inadequate” industrial base, and underfunded cyber and space domains. The commission was tasked by Congress with analyzing the 2022 defense strategy, which was written prior to Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine and the evolution of the strategic partnership between China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

“There is potential for near-term war and a potential that we might lose such a conflict,” Eric Edelman, vice chairman of the Commission on the National Defense Strategy, told senators.

In the days following 9/11, our military was swamped with more eager recruits than they could possibly handle.

But now it has become very difficult to convince young people to join our “woke” military.  In particular, male enlistment is way, way down…

The issue is convincing men to put on the uniform.

A decade of declining recruitment numbers for the Army is almost entirely attributable to a significant drop in male recruiting as female enlistments have remained relatively flat, internal service data reviewed by Military.com shows.

Since 2013, male enlistments have dropped 35%, going from 58,000 men enlisting in 2013 to 37,700 in 2023, according to the service data. Meanwhile, female recruitment has hovered around 10,000 recruits each year.

This is a topic that I have been hammering on for a long time.  In fact, in my most recent book I have an entire chapter entitled “Chaos In The Military”.  Sadly, most Americans have absolutely no idea how much our national defense has been compromised.

As long as we don’t have to fight any major wars, our failures can be hidden to a certain extent.

Unfortunately, three major wars are rapidly approaching.

The Middle East is on the verge of erupting in flames, and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin says that the U.S. would intervene militarily if all-out war breaks out…

The United States would help Israel defend itself should a full-scale war break out with Lebanon, the country’s Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin told reporters in the Philippines as Lebanon braced for an IDF counterstrike.

“We remain concerned about the potential of this escalating into a full fight. And I don’t believe that a fight is inevitable,” Austin said.

I still think that we have a couple of months before things in the region go totally haywire.

Hopefully I am not wrong about that.

Alarmingly, the State Department has just issued a warning instructing U.S. citizens not to travel to Lebanon right now…

The United States on Wednesday urged its citizens to not travel to Lebanon, citing rising tensions between Israel and the Lebanon-based Hezbollah group.

The U.S. State Department raised its travel advisory to Lebanon to level four, which says “Do Not Travel.” The State Department advised Americans in Lebanon to depart if possible.

Meanwhile, the war in Ukraine just continues to escalate and the Russians are steadily gaining ground.

One of the big reasons for this is that the Russians are simply outproducing us.

According to CNN, the Russians are producing almost three times more artillery munitions than the United States and Europe combined…

Russia appears on track to produce nearly three times more artillery munitions than the US and Europe, a key advantage ahead of what is expected to be another Russian offensive in Ukraine later this year.

Russia is producing about 250,000 artillery munitions per month, or about 3 million a year, according to NATO intelligence estimates of Russian defense production shared with CNN, as well as sources familiar with Western efforts to arm Ukraine. Collectively, the US and Europe have the capacity to generate only about 1.2 million munitions annually to send to Kyiv, a senior European intelligence official told CNN.

This is a failure of epic proportions.

    How did this happen?

It appears to be just a matter of time before we come into direct conflict with the Russians, and we are definitely not prepared for that.

Of course we could soon find ourselves fighting a major war with China too.

The moment that China invades Taiwan, we will be at war with the Chinese

Sadly, we are not equipped to fight a war with China on the other side of the Pacific

At this point, China actually has a larger navy than we do…

China now possesses the world’s largest maritime fighting force, operating 234 warships to the U.S. Navy’s 219. This count of China’s fighting ships encompasses all of its known, active-duty manned, missile- or torpedo-armed ships or submarines displacing more than 1,000 metric tons, including the 22 missile-armed corvettes recently transferred to the China Coast Guard but not the approximately 80 missile-armed small patrol craft operated by the PLAN.

Of course not all of our military vessels are currently available.

In fact, there is one aircraft carrier that has been getting “overhauled” since 2021 and won’t be available for service again until 2026 at the earliest…

In 2021, USS John C. Stennis was sent to the shipyard for a routine Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) mission. It was supposed to take three years. Yet it will probably be delayed even past 2026.

As my colleague Harrison Kass assessed, “Since 2001, the U.S. Navy has conducted seven carrier overhauls. The shortest overhaul was USS Nimitz, at 1129 days. Four overhauls took between 1,338 and 1,506 days – USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, USS Carl Vinson, USS Theodore Roosevelt, and USS Abraham Lincoln.”

The most recent carrier to get an RCOH overhaul, USS George Washington, took an astonishing 2,120 days.

It is pretty sad when you have a 4.5 billion dollar aircraft carrier that can’t even sail for five years.

But this is our military now.

We spend a ton of money on it, but we get very little in return.

So we better hope for peace, because if we have to depend on our “woke” military to fight multiple major wars simultaneously we are going to be in a world of hurt.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)

  • Utah dad named person of interest after his deputy sheriff daughter is found dead

TOOELE, Utah (TCN) — A person of interest has been named after a 25-year-old sheriff’s deputy who had only been with the office for seven months was found dead in her home under “suspicious” circumstances.

According to KSL.com, Tooele Police Department officers went to Marbella Martinez’s home on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 1, to conduct a welfare check and found her deceased when they arrived.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office said the Tooele Police Department was “investigating her death as suspicious.”

KSL.com reports investigators identified Martinez’s father, Hector Martinez, as a person of interest in her death and are attempting to locate him.

Tooele Police Cpl. Colby Bentley said some details in Martinez’s death, including her age, stood out to detectives. He said, “Pretty quickly, any well-trained detective will be able to pick out some things that would automatically raise some red flags and some suspicion for us.”

Officials allegedly believe Martinez’s death was “targeted.”

Martinez joined the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer after being sworn in on Jan. 11. The sheriff’s office said Martinez “quickly demonstrated her commitment and passion for serving the community.”

Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera said, “Deputy Martinez was a dedicated member of our Sheriff’s Office family. In her short time with us, she became a cherished friend and an integral part of our team. Her untimely and tragic death is a profound loss for us all.”

  • Fact Check: Claims Elon Musk endorsed Caitlin Clark originated on satire site

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has garnered several endorsements, including with Wilson, Nike and Gatorade.

One deal that isn’t real? A supposed multimillion partnership between the WNBA star and X owner Elon Musk.

“Elon Musk backs Caitlin Clark, offers $10 million endorsement: ‘I support you, Caitlin Clark,’” a recent Facebook post said.

This July 23 post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

This claim originated on a self-described satire site and corresponding Facebook account, SpaceX Fanclub.

Both the posts on the site and the Facebook account are marked as fabricated content.

“We post SATIRE, nothing on this page is real,” the SpaceX Fanclub Facebook account page says.

But the claim is being shared without the disclosure on social media.

We found no evidence, such as credible news stories or public statements, that Musk has pledged money to Clark.

    We rate this post False.

  • ALEA’s Roadway to Success: Drive responsibly, arrive safely to school

ALEA’s Roadway to Success: Drive responsibly, arrive safely to school

    Published 3:00 pm Tuesday, August 6, 2024

The time has come when schools across the state will be back in session, meaning heavier traffic and busier morning commutes. This school year, ALEA is urging parents, teen drivers and citizens of all ages to join the Agency’s “Roadway to Success” campaign and drive responsibly and arrive safely.

Opp City Schools held its first day of school for the 2024-2025 school year on Monday, August 5. Andalusia City Schools will begin the school year on Wednesday, August 7, followed by Covington County Schools on Monday, August 12.

ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor said, “We encourage everyone to take action by talking to your children about safety and set an example by practicing safe driving habits. Plan for plenty of extra time to arrive at your workplace or destination. Even if you are not a parent dropping off your child at school, keep in mind that there is potential for more traffic on roadways with young drivers and congestion will grow around school zones. Be extra cautious for school buses, pedestrians and children walking or biking to school.”

Director of ALEA’s Department of Public Safety, Colonel Jonathan Archer agreed and said, “The safety of our students and young drivers is a paramount concern this time of year. With a lot of first-time drivers on the road heading to school, we urge all drivers to exercise patience and understanding. Please remember these new drivers are gaining experience and may make mistakes. To ensure safety for all, please remain alert, put away cell phones, and always wear your seatbelt.”

According to crash data for the State of Alabama in 2022, more than 56 percent of all traffic fatalities documented were not restrained. In contrast, more than percent of individuals involved in traffic crashes but unharmed were reported to have been using seat belts.

“One of the easiest and safest choices drivers and passengers can make is to buckle up,” Colonel Archer continued. “We are losing way too many Alabamians of all ages in traffic crashes. We strongly encourage everyone to understand the potentially fatal consequences of not wearing a seat belt and learn what you can do to make sure you and your family are properly buckled up every time. Parents, please make time to talk with your teens before they get behind the wheel and make sure they understand that buckling up could save their lives.”

With a focus on newly licensed 16- and 17-year-old drivers, ALEA stresses the importance of responsible driving habits. These young drivers, as well as all motorists, should remember the following:

    1. Seat Belt Usage: Seat belts save lives. Always use your seat belt and ensure that all passengers in your vehicle do the same.
    2. Distraction-Free Driving: Avoid such distractions as texting, eating or playing loud music while driving. Your full attention should be on the road.
    3. Obey Traffic Laws: Adhere to speed limits, traffic signs and signals. Respect other drivers on the road and be patient and courteous. Additionally, never pass a vehicle that has stopped for pedestrians.
    4. Alabama’s Graduated Driver License (GDL) Law: Remember Alabama’s GDL restricts 16-year-old drivers from having more than one nonfamily member in the vehicle when driving.
    5. No Alcohol or Drugs: Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Impaired driving is not only illegal, but it is extremely dangerous.

    School Zone Safety
ALEA urges all motorists to exercise caution and patience when driving through or near school zones and when sharing the road with school buses. It is crucial to adhere to the following guidelines for the safety of students:

    1. Maintain a Safe Distance: Always keep a safe distance between your vehicle and a school bus to allow for sudden stops and children crossing the road. Additionally, watch out for children on bicycles, and leave at least 3 feet between your vehicle and the cyclist when passing them.
    2. Stop for School Buses: Obey all stop signs and flashing lights on school buses. Failure to stop for a school bus loading or unloading children is not only illegal, but it also endangers young lives.
    3. Be Alert: Pay attention to school zones and obey speed limits. Children may be crossing the road or walking near school premises. Also watch for bikes coming down driveways or from behind vehicles parked on the street.
