  • Hollywood Strike’s Impact on TV Shows – The US Times

The television industry could be affected by a possible Hollywood writers’ strike. Shows like Saturday Night Live or Last Week Tonight With John Oliver may go off the air. The Writers Guild of America wants to improve the wages that writers are receiving in the streaming economy. The digital platforms have changed the way traditional film and television productions are done and reduced the amount of money that writers get paid. The writers want to be assured that they will continue to get credit for their writing, despite the rapid rise of artificial intelligence. The negotiations between the Writers Guild and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers in order to avoid a possible strike were not smooth.

In the days of broadcasting, writers were hired to write a 22-episode television season. They would receive a salary up front and a residual payment when the show was rerun. Hollywood’s business model was disrupted when streaming came along. Writers claim that streamers are reducing the number of episodes per season. This makes it more difficult to find work all year. The writers also complain about being asked to provide free script rewrites for weeks or even months. Some movies and television shows may continue to film if the scripts have already been written. However, others will be shut down if actors, directors and set workers refuse to cross the picket line.

The 2007-2008 writers’ strike lasted for 100 days, costing the California economy over $2 billion and resulting in many shows being canceled or delayed. Writers Guild warned that writers who break the strike would be banned from membership in future. The negotiations this time have been less smooth. In fact, earlier this month 11,500 Writers Guild Members voted to authorize a strike in the event that a contract couldn’t be reached. The AMPTP called for “reasonable concessions” but did not specify any specific sticking points.

  • The Shiny New Kamala Harris That Propaganda Built | The Liberty Beacon

Don’t worry. Now we have a shiny NEW Kamala Harris who’s prepared to be the leader of the free world.

Going back even further, who remembers her alleged inappropriate relationship with her boss that helped her to rapidly (allegedly) climb the political ladder in California? And what about her keeping black men incarcerated in California past their release dates just so they could be used as slave labor? What about her throwing the book at 2,000 people for possessing marijuana while currently laughing/cackling about how “nobody should go to jail for smoking some weed?”

But that was the OLD Kamala Harris.

You’re encouraged to forget all that. Not just encouraged, but you’re gaslit and brainwashed into forgetting it. The Shiny New Kamala Harris (SNKH) is a whole different human being.

SNKH is teleprompted and scripted. She doesn’t say anything that wasn’t already approved for her to say because the propaganda machine knows about those confusing word salads she rambles. In fact, SNKH hasn’t done a single interview since she was shoved into place for a floundering Joe Biden.

SNKH has had her entire background “disappeared” into some internet black hole. You know and I know that she was the “border czar” but all the “fact checkers” are acting like this never happened. Everything that is happening at the border and with illegal migrants now will continue to happen and even worsen if she is elected. She has a proven track record of doing… absolutely nothing about this issue. But I challenge you to find any mention of her shortcomings on the MSM.

SNKH is lauded as “Mommala” to the Gen Z-ers. But in fact, she has no children and she’s certainly not maternal when it comes to things like protecting kids from violent criminal migrant gangs. And if her step-daughter, Ella Emhoff, a radical pro-Palestinian “model,” reflects SNKH’s values, I want none of that. In fact, Ella’s dad is Jewish, and Ella has “pointedly insisted she does not consider herself Jewish,” according to an article from the NY Post.

Emhoff has also raised cash for “urgent relief for Gaza’s children” — which critics said would find its way into terrorist hands. The presumptive first stepdaughter remains “an active presence in pro-Palestinian circles,” according to the New Republic.

And that isn’t all – the candidate who everyone thought would be her Vice Presidential pick, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, was looked over for Tim Walz, a dude who turned Minnesota into a “sanctuary state” for illegals and LBGTQ kids whose parents won’t allow them to undergo “gender-affirming care.” Oh, and also, he’s lied about his military service. Repeatedly. We’re talking stolen valor level lies.

But the MSM is beating a totally different drum.

In the span of the three weeks since President Joe Biden dropped out of the election on Twitter and someone tried to assassinate former President Trump, SNKH has undergone a total transformation, courtesy of the Mainstream Media Propaganda Machine. The media appears to be colluding with the Democrats or Harris’s campaign or someone to make her a totally different and socially acceptable choice for president.

Not only have they memory-holed all mentions of “border czar-ing,” but they’ve also gotten rid of many of her former faux pas.  They have created a new Kamala Harris to present to the world in the span of just 23 days. They have created a total illusion of SNKH’s greatness and somehow completely turned the polls around.

    Or have they?

I remember when we all thought Hillary Clinton was going to win back in 2016 and were shocked when Trump was announced as the 45th president. The polls then showed a strong lead for HRC, but in the end, even allegedly cheating, she lost.

Are the polls now any different? Are all these positive polls for real that show this ultra-confused woman trouncing President Trump? The same President Trump who got shot and got up pumping his fist in the air telling us to “fight!?” The same President Trump who was soundly defeating President Biden? Has it turned around that quickly or are they just telling us that it has?

I honestly think it’s the second. I have great difficulty imagining who could believe this ridiculous scheme to paint SNKH as a totally different person. Of course, I also can’t understand why people thought Joe Biden was A-OK and non-demented until his fateful debate with Trump. So perhaps I’m wrong.

The Harris Campaign is feeding the Shiny New Kamala Harris creation, too

Of course, the Harris Campaign is right up there, priming the pump for all the wonderful things SNKH has accomplished and will soon accomplish. But they don’t seem to believe the MSM is doing enough.

According to Axios, they are making up headlines and attributing them to MSM networks in their ad campaigns.

No, those aren’t real. Those are ads that will pop up when you search Google for something related to the topic of SNKH and her wannabe VP, Tim Walz. Those misleading ads are fake headlines, wild dreams, and crazy wishes that are made to look absolutely real to those who are searching for information.

Here’s more from the Axios article about this:

… Since August 3rd, nearly a dozen news companies have been used in these types of search ads from the Harris campaign, Axios found.

    • Examples include The Independent UK, NPR, AP, The Guardian, USA Today, PBS, CNN, CBS News, Time and others, including local outlets like North Dakota radio station WDAY Radio.
    • The ads include links to real articles from the news outlets, but the headlines and supporting text have been altered to read as though the articles support the Harris campaign’s objectives.
    • For example, an ad that ran alongside an article from The Guardian shows a headline that reads “VP Harris Fights Abortion Bans – Harris Defends Repro Freedom” and then includes supporting text underneath the headline that reads, “VP Harris is a champion for reproductive freedom and will stop Trump’s abortion bans.”
    • An ad featuring a link to an NPR story reads, “Harris Will Lower Health Costs,” with supporting text that says, “Kamala Harris will lower the cost of high-quality affordable health care.”

It’s not illegal but it’s kinda crazy how all those “disinformation” websites aren’t all over this. They red-flagged me for posting links to studies with opposing results.

What it all adds up to

In my humble opinion, here’s what we could expect from a Harris presidency:

    • More crime and devolution from our leaky southern border
    • More difficulty for the average REAL American to get social assistance because we’re spending billions on illegal immigrants
    • Unsafe cities because of liberal ideas of “criminal justice”
    • Even more inflation than we’re already facing at the grocery store
    • A full-on stock market collapse as the world loses faith in America and our dollar
    • More surveillance and control
    • A war in the Middle East that will spill over into the rest of the world
    • A globe that has no respect for Americans
    • More DEI-related incompetence
    • More Marxist B(aloney) S(andwiches) shoved down our throats at every opportunity
    • A quick trip to communism when people can no longer survive in the inhospitable economic climate of the future

Remember, you know what you know about her. Don’t let this tomfoolery and gaslighting make you forget how inept this person is and how unsuited she is for the highest office in the United States of America.

  • 5 people, including 2 doctors, charged in connection with Matthew Perry's overdose death

LOS ANGELES (TCN) — Federal prosecutors announced Thursday that five people have been arrested and charged in connection with “Friends” actor Matthew Perry’s fatal ketamine overdose in October 2023.

In a statement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said 41-year-old Jasveen Sangha, also allegedly known as the “Ketamine Queen,” and Dr. Salvador Plasencia were indicted on one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. Prosecutors are also charging Sangha with maintaining a drug-involved premises, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute ketamine, and five counts of distribution of ketamine.

Plasencia has also been charged with seven counts of distribution of ketamine and two counts of altering and falsifying documents or records.

The three other defendants include Perry’s live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, Erik Fleming, and Dr. Mark Chavez. Fleming pleaded guilty last week to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death. He reportedly confessed to buying 50 vials of ketamine from Sangha and providing the drugs to the actor. Sangha reportedly gave Fleming 25 vials days before Perry died.

Iwamasa pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death on Aug. 7. He reportedly “admitted to repeatedly injecting Perry with ketamine without medical training, including performing multiple injections on Perry on October 28, 2023 — the day Perry died.”

Additionally, Chavez agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. He sold the drug to Plasencia after obtaining it from a drug clinic he used to run. Chavez reportedly made “false representations to a wholesale ketamine distributor” and submitted false prescriptions in a former patient’s name without their consent.

According to the statement, Plasencia learned Perry was “interested in obtaining ketamine” in September 2023. Plasencia reached out to Chavez to buy the drugs to sell to the “Friends” actor. Plasencia allegedly texted Chavez, “I wonder how much this moron will pay.”

Plasencia reportedly taught Iwamasa how to inject the drug into Perry even though Iwamasa did not have a medical background or training.

Iwamasa and Fleming also started working with Sangha in October 2023 to obtain the drugs. Plasencia continued to sell Iwamasa the drugs even though he learned a week before the actor’s death that “Perry’s ketamine addiction was spiraling out of control.”

On the day he died, Perry received “multiple ketamine injections.” Once news of his death became public, Sangha texted Fleming, “Delete all our messages.”

In 2019, Sangha sold ketamine to Cody McLaury hours before he overdosed. One of the victim’s family members texted her and said her drugs killed McLaury, but prosecutors say Sangha “nonetheless continued to sell ketamine from her stash house.”

Agents searched Sangha’s house and found “evidence of drug trafficking,” including over 3 pounds of meth pills, cocaine, and prescription drugs that “appeared to be fraudulently obtained.”

Plasencia allegedly falsified records to make it seem like he had a “treatment plan” for Perry.

Sangha could face a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison if convicted. Plasencia could face 70 years for the ketamine charges alone. Iwamasa will be sentenced to up to 15 years and Fleming to a maximum of 25 years, while Chavez will get up to 10 years.

U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada said in the statement, “These defendants cared more about profiting off of Mr. Perry than caring for his well-being. Drug dealers selling dangerous substances are gambling with other people’s lives over greed. This case, along with our many other prosecutions of drug dealers who cause death, send a clear message that we will hold drug dealers accountable for the deaths they cause.”

  • Fact Check: No, Kamala Harris didn’t vote in 2022 for a law that would tax service workers’ tips

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have both said they would stop taxing tips in their bid for the presidency.

But some people online have called Harris hypocritical, accusing her of voting in 2022 to tax service workers’ tips.

An Instagram post shows a video of Harris voting for the Inflation Reduction Act. Text overlaying the video reads, “Kamala Harris Hopes Service Workers Forget She was the Tie-Breaking Vote for the IRS to GO AFTER TIPS!”

The video then claims that the Inflation Reduction Act hired 87,000 IRS agents to launch a tip reporting site. “KAMALA TAXED YOUR TIPS,” another text layer says.

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

People have had to pay federal taxes on tips for decades, long before the Inflation Reduction Act was passed. In 2021, the IRS said it planned to hire more than 86,000 new employees over 10 years. But those employees would not all be working in enforcement. And the IRS tip reporting program is a voluntary program that would replace existing tax compliance programs.

The 2022 Inflation Reduction Act increased taxes on large corporations, including companies making more than $1 billion in three years. It also gave an additional $80 billion to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The claim that the IRS would hire 87,000 IRS agents came from a 2021 Department of Treasury report that said the IRS would use the $80 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act to hire 86,852 full-time employees.

PolitiFact previously found that the new hires would not work solely as auditors or in enforcement. Some of the additional funding would also go toward operations support, taxpayer services and modernizing the agency’s business system, a congressional research report showed.

The IRS did propose a tip reporting program in 2023 that would let service industry employers report tips voluntarily to help with tax compliance.

The program is not entirely new. It would replace three other tip compliance agreements that have existed since 1993.

    Our ruling

Kamala Harris did not vote for a law that taxed service workers’ tips. Tips have been federally taxed for decades.

In 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act allocated $80 billion to hire 87,000 full-time IRS employees. Those employees would be hired in a 10-year period, meaning the 87,000 new employees could not all be hired to launch the agency’s tip reporting program.

The IRS did start a program in 2023 in which employers could voluntarily report tips to the IRS. That program is not a new concept and was intended to replace three similar tip compliance programs.

We rate the claim that Kamala Harris voted in favor of passing a law in 2022 to tax tips False.

  • Trump supporting CA. Sheriff Blasts Harris For Using His Image In “Misleading” Campaign Ad | The Liberty Beacon

Trump supporting CA. Sheriff Blasts Harris For Using His Image In “Misleading” Campaign Ad

By Debra Heine | American Greatness

A California sheriff is slamming Kamala Harris over her ‘misleading’ political ad that fraudulently touted her border security record while using his image without permission.

The video features Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux and other local and state law enforcement officers flanking then Attorney General Harris during her visit to the Central Valley in 2014.

“In light of a recent political ad put out by Kamala Harris featuring Sheriff Boudreaux, as well as other local law enforcement, the Sheriff wants to make it abundantly clear that his image is being used without his permission, and he does NOT endorse Harris for President or any other political office,” the sheriff said in a statement issued to Fox News Digital.

Boudreaux has spent 37 years in the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and is currently president of the California State Sheriffs’ Association.

“As a matter of fact, I would like to point out the misleading information projected in that same political ad. In the ad, Harris claims to have spent decades fighting violent crime as a ‘border state prosecutor,’” Boudreaux stated.

    The ad claims:

“As a border state prosecutor, she took on drug cartels and jailed gang members for smuggling weapons and drugs across the border.”  Harris’ campaign ad also dubiously states that she will “hire thousands more border agents and crack down on fentanyl and human trafficking.”

Boudreaux and other law enforcement officials in Southern California were outraged that Harris would take credit for fighting crime at the border when she allegedly only “undercut” their efforts.

“How can you go in and promote that you were this tight border person when all the troops are coming across the border, and you literally are eliminating all these task forces? I mean, that completely made us mad,” Boudreaux told Fox News.

“When you see that advertisement, if you do a little research, you’ll find that what she’s (Harris) touting goes completely against what was happening at the time, so when she put that picture out there with me in it, I got really upset, that ad is all smoke and mirrors,” Boudreaux said. “I do not support her.”

Harris reportedly came to the Valley in 2014 to take credit for “a years-long investigation into a multi-national drug operation, with ties to Mexican drug cartels and prison gangs,” that was done by local law enforcement.

According to the sheriff,  11 people were arrested, including suspected “kingpin” Jose Magana of Dinuba in that case.

“The truth is, Harris never cared about the cartels and did nothing to stop people from illegally crossing the border,” Boudreaux said.

The sheriff made note of Harris’ haughty attitude during the 2014 visit.

“We were in the green room. She never came in and said hello to any of us. She walked up front, gave her presser, literally walked out, never said hi to any of us,” Boudreaux said. “I’m disgusted because, you know, she didn’t shake hands. She didn’t say hello. And she’s taken credit for all this work that the locals did.”

Boudreaux’s political action committee, Golden State Justice, also issued a scathing statement blasting Harris’ new campaign ad.

“As Attorney General, Kamala Harris undercut efforts by California law enforcement officials to stop criminals from flooding our state with guns and drugs across the border,” the statement read.

“She repeatedly defunded and shuttered task forces designed to protect our residents, leaving the Valley and our state vulnerable,” the statement continued. “Kamala’s sad attempt to paint herself as tough on the border by implying my support – and the support of neighboring law enforcement leaders—is pathetic.”

The statement concluded by saying “a politician crowding the podium at a press conference clearly hasn’t solved our border crisis. Neither has Kamala Harris.”

Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward, who is also featured in the ad, was also enraged by the video.

“The hypocrisy knows no bounds. It’s disingenuous and her campaign ad, somehow now, touting her reputation as a prosecutor as a positive thing, she was attorney general under three of the worst tragedies that had befallen the citizens of the state of California,” Ward told Fox News.

Ward concurred with Boudreaux about using their images in a campaign ad without permission, saying that it should have been a “professional courtesy” to let them know about it.

“We’re not hard people to find or to contact. Simple professional courtesy would have been warning us that it was going to be used. And I think that we are well within our rights to clarify the records,” Ward said.

“Just as Sheriff Boudreaux said, I do not in any way want the use of that photo to be construed as support of her (Harris) either in her candidacy, current candidacy, or even in her tenure as attorney general of the State of California.”

In an interview Tuesday with Fox News, Boudreaux said Harris showed up in 2014 “for a sound bite, didn’t shake anyone’s hands and she quickly left the briefing room.”

He said law enforcement officials in Southern California are “very familiar” with Harris’ record and her campaign ad was “deceptive to say the least.”

The sheriff added, “I just wanted to come out and say that for me as the sheriff or Tulare County looking out for victims, looking for someone who’s going to support criminal justice and law enforcement, that is best represented by Donald Trump, not Kamala Harris.”

  • Wife and her cousin accused of killing Army National Guard soldier found shot and zip-tied in 2019

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (TCN) — Authorities recently arrested a woman and her cousin on suspicion of fatally shooting the woman’s husband, a soldier.

According to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, on Oct. 1, 2019, deputies responded to a home on Shaw Ferry Road, where they found 35-year-old Jacob Bishop deceased. Officials suspected foul play and determined Bishop was the victim of a homicide.

Deputies said they found Bishop, a Tennessee Army National Guard soldier, with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was bound by zip ties.

Bishop’s death investigation remained unsolved for years until recently, when the sheriff’s announced they arrested Bishop’s wife, 39-year-old Amanda Bishop, and her cousin, 39-year-old Eric Byrd, on Aug. 13. Deputies said they were able to identify the suspects through “advancements in technology and new evidence.”

According to the sheriff’s office, before the victim’s death, Amanda Bishop and her husband were going through a “heated” custody battle that “sparked animosity between the two.”

Bishop and Byrd were booked into the Loudon County Detention Center on charges of first-degree murder with bonds set of $1 million each.

Loudon County Sheriff Jimmy Davis said, “Today’s arrests mark a crucial step toward justice for Jacob Bishop and his family. This case has remained a top priority for our office, and I commend the relentless efforts of our detectives and partner agencies who have worked tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”

  • Fact Check: Social media posts misidentify immunologist as someone who died in Aug. 9 plane crash in Brazil

Sixty-two people, including some medical professionals, died when a domestic flight crashed Aug. 9 in Brazil. As organizations and institutions posted messages of condolence, some social media users circulated a video of a cancer researcher, inaccurately claiming he was one of the crash victims.

“This man was on that plane!” one viral post said. “He discovered a way to program regulatory T-cells to attack tumors. A huge breakthrough.”

The post claimed the breakthrough “showed 90% remission in the lab,” was “moving to animal trials,” and could end cancer. “And his plane just exploded,” the post said. “Dr. Leo Ferreira.”

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

Conspiracy theorist and conservative commentator Alex Jones, who has 2.7 million X followers, amplified the claim Aug. 12 when he reshared a similar X post with the comment: “Very suspicious.” The version of the claim that was reshared on Facebook was shared originally on X, where it has been viewed more than 4 million times.

The posts misidentified Leonardo Ferreira, an immunologist, as one of the plane crash victims.

    (Screenshot from Facebook.)

Leonardo Ramos Ferreira, the person shown in the posts’ videos, is not dead.

“I am alive and well working in my laboratory at the Hollings Cancer Center,” in Charleston, South Carolina, Ferreira told PolitiFact in an email.

Ferreira is a professor of microbiology and immunology at the Medical University of South Carolina in the Hollings Cancer Center.

“I was not on the plane that crashed in Brazil on Friday, tragically killing all its passengers, including cancer doctors traveling to a conference,” he said, referring to news reports about some of the victims. “I offer my sincere condolences to their family, friends, colleagues, and patients. I am also thankful for all the people who worried and have reached out to make sure I am alive.”

Leonardo Ferreira’s name was not included on the airline Voepass’ list of passengers and crew members on the plane that crashed.

The misidentification might be partly because he and one of the victims had a common surname.

The Associated Press and local news reports said Dr. José Roberto Leonel Ferreira, a recently retired doctor and professor, was among the passengers who died in the crash. (Voepass’ list of passengers included “Jose Fer.”)

The Brazilian College of Radiology and Imaging Diagnosis published a short statement about José Roberto Leonel Ferreira’s death.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr. José Roberto Leonel Ferreira,” read the statement, which identified him as a “full member” of the organization. “Owner of the Dr. Leonel Ferreira Imaging Center, opened 27 years ago in Cascavel, he was among the 62 occupants of the Voepass plane that crashed on Friday afternoon in Vinhedo.”

The statement also said José Roberto Leonel Ferreira had been an assistant professor at Unioeste.

Unioeste, also known as The State University of Western Paraná, posted a statement of condolence that mentioned José Roberto Leonel Ferreira, too. It described him as a recently retired professor and owner of an imaging center in Cascavel, Brazil, according to Google’s translation.

The deadly crash’s cause is undetermined and under investigation, but PolitiFact searched using Google and the Nexis news database and found no reliable reports showing that authorities believed the incident was an intentional attack or linked to any one person — cancer researcher or otherwise — being aboard.

    Our ruling

A Facebook post claimed that “Dr. Leo Ferreira,” a cancer researcher shown in a video clip, was on the plane that crashed Aug. 9 in Brazil.

The video showed Leonardo Ferreira, an immunologist who works at the Medical University of South Carolina. Ferreira did not die in the plane crash. He rebutted such claims in an Aug. 12 X post, days after the crash.

Dr. José Roberto Leonel Ferreira, a professor and radiologist with an imaging center in Brazil, died in the crash, according to news reports.

    We rate this claim False.
