  • Internal Operations Auditor at African Parks Network October, 2023

    As part of the Safeguards, Compliance, Assurance and Risk (SCAR) team, the Primary purpose of this role would be:

    • Executing all internal operational audits (IOA): act as the audit leader on the team of senior, specialised internal operations auditors for each IOA executed (10-12 audits/year). Assist SCAR manager in coordinating, training, debriefing of auditors/parks pre/post audit. Responsible for the development of the audit reports, and ensuring the accuracy, consistency and fairness in judgement across IOAs conducted.
    • Management of the Feedback loop from IOA and Law Enforcement (LE) audits: Collate and ensure accurate and timely reporting of the two-monthly feedback loop from the IOA and LE audits. Ensure the process is participatory and constructive with the PMUs and ROMs concerned. For the LE audit reporting, ensure proactive interaction with the LE department who executes LE audits to ensure understanding of audit environment and streamlining between IOA and LE audit processes.
    • Continuous development and improvement of IOA tools and framework: Gather lessons learned from audits and ensure continuous improvement of the audit tools and framework. Update the audit tools as per SOP development and ensure discussions with Head of Departments. Continually improve the reporting mechanism and templates used.
    • Tools to showcase audit results VS other park results: work with SCAR manager and Business Intelligence unit to develop tools to whereby parks IOA results can be put into context with park metrics to demonstrate co-relations.
    • Coordinating/collating audit management letter comment feedback: For all statutory audits, ensure actions taken to correct, next audit progress etc reported on in a timely manner as per needs (2/year).

    Required qualification(s), competencies and experience:

    • Degree in relevant field
    • Highly organised and systematic
    • Good attention to detail – both administratively but also in terms of content/substance
    • Practical and logical approach
    • Demonstrated leadership experience
    • Strong team player, with excellent interpersonal and relationship management
    • Deadline and quality focused
    • Able to communicate in written and spoken French
    • Good understanding of AP operations and business model highly advantageous (prior work within AP operations preferable)
    • Comfortable to travel extensively throughout Africa

    Registered at the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse (General, Psychiatry, and Community Health) Midwife/ Accoucheur.
    An additional qualification in nursing education.
    Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
    Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
    A good academic record (attach a copy).
    Proven clinical experience after basic training.

    Recommendations:

    Field of specialisation in (Health Service Management, Perioperative care, Forensic Nursing)
    Proven research record of relevant publications in nationally accredited journals.
    Member of a national or international scholarly society or committee.

    This position also requires a minimum of 10 years senior management experience, with at least 5 years at higher/executive management level or equivalent level in dealing with financial matters.
    The successful candidate will be required to acquire a Senior Management Service Pre-entry Certificate offered by National School of Government before assumption of duty.
