How to Play Connections: Tips & Tricks to Solve the Puzzle

Given the fact you’re here, chances are that you already know how to play NYT Connections. As you might be able to tell by now, Connections by The New York Times is a word association game where players sort out 16 random words into four categories by finding a common ‘connection.’ This can be anything from a common sound to a deeper meaning.

That said, if you’re still confused, here are the best tips on how to play NYT Connections:

    • Simplicity is key: Connections will often throw ambiguous words at you. While it’s easy to get caught up in the details, the answer almost always lies in the simplest connections possible. So, instead of dear and deer being connected through a hunter-prey dynamic, they most likely connect because of a similar sound.
    • Watch those guesses: A key thing to note is Connections only gives you four chances in 24 hours for a single puzzle. As such, we advise not being trigger happy and carefully weighing in your words before pressing that submit button.
    • Shuffle Away: While a bit tricky, the sneaky Connections editor deliberately puts the first word placement as a misdirection. So the one golden tip here is to press that Shuffle button before you go on solving it.

If you’re still unsure how to proceed, check out our dedicated how-to-play NYT Connections guide for all the help you need.

We hope you had similar luck as I did for today’s game. If not, please let us know in the comments below!

  • From main protagonist to cold-blooded villain — the inevitable story trajectory of Tekken’s Kazuya Mishima

Kazuya Mishima is easily one of the most recognizable faces of the Tekken franchise, though most people who aren’t super well-versed on Tekken lore would peg him as the main villain of the franchise.

While the title of “main villain” can definitely be debated, the fact that he’s a villain is definitely not wrong, but did you know that he actually started out as the main protagonist back in the very first Tekken game? So what happened to lead him to his current status, exactly? Well, let’s break it down.

Kazuya Mishima was depicted as the main protagonist in the original but to be honest, he was never really presented as a good guy per se. The main thing that made him a protagonist was just that the antagonist, Heihachi Mishima, was so much worse.

Even as early as the first Tekken, Kazuya is described as “cold blooded”, an “arrogant loner” and explicitly stated to be in the tournament in order to kill his father (which, honestly, somewhat deserved considering Heihachi threw him off a cliff when he was five years old).

Once Tekken 2 hit, the seeds that were planted seemed to already be bearing fruit with Kazuya already shown to be establishing his own military force and seeking world domination, largely just to prove to the world that he was greater than his father.

However, Tekken 2 also introduces Jun Kazama, a mysterious young woman who endeavors to heal Kazuya from the devil within him and cleanse his spirit, so even though the developers had clearly intended the heel turn for Kazuya already, they seemed to also be planning a redemption arc, or at least the possibility of one.

Tekken 2 ends with Heihachi defeating Kazuya and throwing him in a volcano (hilariously, Tekken 2 specifically lists “volcanoes” as a dislike to Kazuya) and he’s presumed dead.

Tekken 3 doesn’t have Kazuya in it at all and does a large time jump of 17 years, though it does add Jin Kazama, the child of Kazuya and Jun which canonizes that Kazuya and Jun did indeed grow close before the former’s supposed demise.

In Tekken 4, Kazuya is revealed to have survived (or been resurrected, even) through help of the G Corporation and ever since then he has essentially been on a path of destruction against the father he hates but also holds a deep resentment for his own son Jin.

Essentially, Kazuya’s entire story beat is that he wants to prove himself superior to his father Heihachi but we keep being smacked over the head with the fact that Kazuya is no better himself. In fact, Kazuya’s reliance on the Devil Gene even implies that he is lesser than Heihachi, since the father’s strength is self-earned to a different degree than Kazuya’s.

Ever since Tekken 3 pivoted to making Jin Kazama the new main character, Kazuya has largely taken a back seat as far as story-telling goes. Sure, he’s there but he’s become a lot more one-note and is basically just there to be an evil bastard.

The only time Kazuya got to do something more was in Tekken 7 where his and Heihachi’s conflict was the central focus of the story, ending with Kazuya finally getting revenge on his old man and throwing him in a volcano for a change.

There are hints to Kazuya’s possible redemption with Jun’s return in Tekken 8 and with the way the story ends off. I’m just going to ahead and set a spoiler alert here for anyone who didn’t finish Tekken 8’s story yet but still wants to do so.

After Jin and Kazuya’s climactic battle which ends with both of them losing their devil forms and Jin sparing Kazuya’s life, choosing the path his father never could, Jun finds Kazuya passed out on the ground.

What happened after, we’re not entirely sure of, but it ends on a note of hope for Kazuya to maybe have a bright future ahead of him with his once beloved after all.

… Of course, this is all undercut when we see Reina show up with the Devil Gene anyway at the end, so odds are that once Tekken 9 rolls around we’ll be right back to status quo once more. Doubly so since Heihachi was later revealed to have survived the events of Tekken 7.

Whatever the case, looking into Kazuya’s story and his somewhat uneventful character arc, it’s clear that the plan from the very start was to highlight that he’s just as bad as Heihachi — there never really was much of a fall from grace, since whatever goodness he may have had really only seemed good in comparison to someone who was even worse.

Still, despite the circumstances around him, it’s still fascinating to see the original main character of such a long-running franchise transition to be its main villain, even if his character traits have largely remained the same from the start.

At the end of the day, the central story is about the Mishima bloodline and the horrible games they play on each other. Tekken 8 seems to imply that Jin is ending this cruel circus they find themselves in, but with Heihachi’s return and the Devil Gene still clearly present, it seems unlikely.

I’m honestly hoping that we’ll see some change in Kazuya’s demeanor in the future now that Jun is back, but even while hoping… I’m not going to hold my breath.

  • How to Catch Sea Leviathan in Fisch

The Fisch Second Sea Update has been a massive boon to all the Fischers since it gives you a completely new chance at leveling up your game in a whole new location. This way, most of the early-stage players and mid-game adventurers don’t need to do that massive grind to get better rods for catching new Exotics and Secrets. The Second Sea in Fisch also houses a new permanent hunt event where you can catch the Exotic Sea Leviathan. Since figuring out how it spawns can be tricky, we have brought a comprehensive guide to teach you how to catch the Sea Leviathan in Fisch here.

    Sea Leviathan Location in Fisch

The Sea Leviathan hunt event is exclusive to the Second Sea of Fisch. So, to catch this one, you must be at least level 250 and above. Once this requirement is met, head towards the Terrapin island to defeat the Cthulhu boss and get to the Second Sea.

Do note that the Sea Leviathan event is similar to the Orca and Whale migration event. Therefore, it travels from one location to the other, and its spawn rate is affected by totems. All you need is a big stash of Smokescreen and Tempest/Windset Totems.

The Sea Leviathan has a 5% chance of spawning on a Foggy night. So, keep spamming Smokescreen and Tempest (or Windset) totems alternatively to increase the chances of spawning this beast.

Furthermore, notice the text messages that appear on top of your screen. The moment a message appears stating that “A Sea Leviathan has spawned near (Island Name)“, get ready with your boat to head towards that area. Keep in mind that the beast can spawn near any island. However, for most of the cases we tried catching the creature, it followed the given path:

    • Starting at XYZ: 4183, 77, 3305 and ending at XYZ: -2046, 77, -142 ‍
    • Starting at XYZ: -2047, 77, -1794 and ending at XYZ: 2768, 77, 3531 ‍
    • How to Catch Sea Leviathan in Fisch

Make sure you grab a GPS in Fisch from Moosewood in the first sea so that you don’t face any trouble in locating the coordinates. One last tip before you move on is that if you notice several pink blocks at random points on the Second Sea, then this is the specific path the Leviathan will follow once it has spawned.

How to Catch the Sea Leviathan in Fisch

Now that you have successfully spawned the Sea Leviathan in your server, use a Fish Radar to get a clearer view of the boundaries where you can catch it. The area will be in the shape of a triangle moving forward. As such, you should be on the move too with your boat and prepare yourself with the right fishing rods and baits. Here are the following conditions this fish prefers:

    • Favorite Bait: Luminous Larva
    • Weather: Foggy
    • Time: Any
    • Season: Spring
    Sea Leviathan
Image Credit: Fisch/Roblox (screenshot by Ishan Adhikary/Beebom)

Stacking a decent amount of luck will be a great idea if you want to get that creature quickly. Since it’s an Exotic, consider using an Aurora Totem along with Merlin’s Luck, or purchase the Eldritch Bundle pack and Double Server Luck for 799 and 99 Robux at the game store.

Best Fishing Rods to Catch the Sea Leviathan

The Sea Leviathan will apply a -90% progress speed penalty while reeling it in with your rod. Therefore, I would recommend using a high-resilience rod along with a good control stat. Here are a few suggestions from my side, along with what enchants and baits to use with them:

    • Azure of Lagoon Rod: Preferred for its high resilience and stabbing ability. Apply the Hasty or Steady enchant and use the Seaweed or Coral as baits
    • Ethereal Prism Rod: Preferred for its passive mutation. Apply the Steady enchant and use Luminous Larva or Deep Coral as baits.
    • Free Spirit Rod: Preferred for its stabbing ability. Apply the Steady or Hasty enchant and use Deep Coral or Luminous Larva as baits.
    • Seraphic Rod: Preferred for its passive laser beam. Apply the Steady or Resilient (or Mystical) enchant and use Deep Coral or Coral as baits.

Furthermore, if you are lucky enough to get the Song of the Deep Relic in Fisch, you can always place the Blessed Song enchant instead of applying Steady to your rods. The Luminous Larva baits can be collected by spending a whole lot of time inside the Fisch AFK Mine, or you can use the latest Fisch codes to redeem some free baits.

So, that’s how you can spawn and catch the Sea Leviathan in Fisch easily. Did you find our steps helpful, or have you already caught this beast? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Honkai Star Rail Castorice: 7 Interesting Facts You Didn’t Know

Castorice is the most hyped character in Honkai Star Rail Amphoreus, and she is always surrounded by mystery and intrigue. As a Chrysos Heir who is after the coreflame of Thanatos, she carries the curse of death. But that’s not where Castorice stops becoming interesting, as she has a lot more to offer as a character. She might be a manifestation of death itself, but that doesn’t stop her from being a normal girl who has her silly desires at the end of the day. If you want to learn more about Castorice, then check out these 7 interesting facts.

    1. The Executioner of Aidonia

Image Credit: Hoyoverse (via YouTube/HonkaiStarRail, screenshot by Sanmay Chakrabarti/Beebom)

You may already know that Castorice comes from the ancient city of Aidonia. However, very few of you will likely know that Castorice was also the executioner of Aidonia, being responsible for sending countless prisoners to their deaths with her curse. Due to her curse as a Chrysos Heir, she is revered by the people of Aidonia as Maiden of War. The people of Aidonia worship death, so they also revere Castorice as she can bring death by her mere touch. Even though Castorice worked diligently as the executioner in Aidonia, the countless deaths she provided to the prisoners did strain her psychologically.

    2. She Has the Death’s Touch

    Castorice has the death touch
Image Credit: Hoyoverse/HonkaiStarRail (screenshot by Sanmay Chakrabarti/Beebom)

Castorice’s ability is very interesting and unique in Honkai Star Rail, as nothing like it has been shown previously in the game. She has the curse of Death as a Chrysos Heir, which kills anything she merely touches. Simply being near Castorice can send a person into slumber, but it’s her touch that provides them the warm embrace of death.

    3. Immune to Mosquito Bites

Castorice is immune to Mosquito bites
Image Credit: Hoyoverse (via YouTube/HonkaiStarRail, screenshot by Sanmay Chakrabarti/Beebom)

As Castorice’s mere touch can kill most beings in Amphoreus, she cannot touch other humans or animals. This means that even though Castorice loves interacting with Dromas and Chimeras in the holy city of Okhema, she will never be able to pet them with her own hands. Although this is extremely sad, it also comes with a few benefits. One of the benefits of Castorice’s curse is that she is immune to mosquito bites, as mosquitoes can neither get close to her nor bite her before slumbering to eternal sleep.

    4. Likes Plushies

Castorice loves plushies in Honkai Star Rail
Image Credit: Hoyoverse/HonkaiStarRail (screenshot by Sanmay Chakrabarti/Beebom)

As Castorice is unable to pet animals due to her curse, she has become fond of plushies instead. Castorice loves creating plushies and uses them to fulfill her innate desire to pet dogs, cats, or chimeras in Amphoreus of Honkai Star Rail. She creates plushies of small animals and cuddles with them every night as she falls asleep, entering slumber in their company.

    5. A Reputed Scholar

Castorice is a Scholar in Honkai Star Rail
Image Credit: Hoyoverse (via YouTube/HonkaiStarRail, screenshot by Sanmay Chakrabarti/Beebom)

Castorice is feared by many because of her powers and revered by others. However, her curse is not the only reason she is famous in Okhema. Castorice is also a well known Scholar, being especially knowledgeable about Amphorean history and literature. She loves reading and writing as she cannot send the pen and paper into eternal slumber with her touch. Castorice has also written on multiple subjects in Amphoreus, and her work can be found in Okhema.

    6. Loves Monochrome Photography

Castorice loves monochrome photography in honkai Star rail
Image Credit: Hoyoverse/HonkaiStarRail (screenshot by Sanmay Chakrabarti/Beebom)

Another interesting fact about Castorice is that she loves photography. This was first noticed when Castorice was asked by the Trailblazer and Dan Heng to click a picture for them. Castorice loves photography, but unlike most others, she loves Monochrome Photography. Her photos are always in black and white, as she finds comfort in the simplicity of the monochrome colors.

    7. A Certified Introvert

castorice is an introvert in Honkai Star Rail
Image Credit: Hoyoverse (via YouTube/HonkaiStarRail, screenshot by Sanmay Chakrabarti/Beebom)

Due to her extremely strong curse that kills others from her mere touch, Castorice is both revered and feared all around Amphoreus. This also makes her isolated from others, putting psychological stress on Castorice. Due to this, Castorice has become very shy and has trouble carrying on conversations with unknown people. These are clear signs of an introvert, making her personality quite interesting. Fortunately, she has become much more open after coming to the holy city of Okhema and interacting with the other determined Chrysos Heirs, and the Trailblazer.

So, these are seven interesting facts about Castorice in Honkai Star Rail. She is a highly interesting character, and her abilities make her an absolute must-pull in Honkai Star Rail 3.2 banners. Know more interesting things about Castorice? Tell us in the comments below.

  • You Can Now Play Microsoft’s AI-Generated Version of Quake II in Your Browser

In February 2025, Microsoft unveiled an AI model called ‘Muse’, which can generate gaming visuals and controller actions as you continue to play the game. Microsoft stated that Muse is a World and Human Action Model (WHAM) that leverages the power of AI to generate entirely new sequences of gameplay. It uses a Transformer-based model.

After scaling the Muse model on 1 million training updates, Muse learnt basic movements, geometry, correct interaction, flying mechanics, and more. Now, finally, Microsoft has launched Copilot Gaming Experiences, as part of the Copilot Labs program, where the company demonstrates experimental AI demos and experiences.

Microsoft has taken the classic Quake II game and used the Muse AI model to generate gameplay in real time. It dynamically generates the gameplay sequences, and after every user input, a new AI-generated moment is created instantly. Best of all, it’s available freely for anyone to play the AI-generated version of Quake II in a web browser by clicking this link.

I played Microsoft’s AI version of Quake II, and it was decent as an early proof of concept. You can move around with WASD keyboard controls and perform actions as well. However, there is no mouse support, which is a bummer. The graphics quality is not great right now, but this is an early demo, and with future improvements, Generative AI may deliver great results in gaming, as we have seen with Nvidia’s multi-frame generation in DLSS 4.

Having said that, there is a short time limit (about 2 minutes) that prevents users from fully exploring the AI-generated game. During my gameplay, I couldn’t find any goals or objectives, and most interestingly, objects and enemies kept disappearing. So yes, there is no consistency in the AI version of Quake II.

    Google’s AI Model for Gaming

For what it’s worth, Google DeepMind also demonstrated a similar AI technology for gaming in 2024. GameNGen is Google’s game engine, which is powered by an AI neural model (Diffusion-based) that allows real-time interaction in a complex environment. Google showed that GameNGen can simulate the classic DOOM game at 20 FPS on a single TPU.

Next, Google’s Genie 2 is a large foundation world model (Diffusion-based) that can generate diverse gaming environments and can respond to keyboard controls. It can also handle gravity, reflections, smoke, lighting — nearly all Physics concepts. Now, with the early advent of AI in gaming, we need to see what the future holds for the gaming industry.

  • Ryu takes second place at another major Street Fighter 6 event but with a different player pushing him

Since the release of Street Fighter 6, Ryu has been regarded as being the worst of the Shoto characters, which is a problem that only escalated after Akuma was added as a DLC fighter. This has been a constant problem for Ryu since Street Fighter 5 Season 2.

However, 2G|Blaz was able to surprise everyone at Capcom Cup 11 with the performance of his Ryu. Though he also had Ken and Akuma ready as secondaries to fall back on, he was able to achieve a second place finish relying primarily on Ryu, only losing to Zeta|Kakeru’s JP in the end.

Was Ryu actually underrated or was this merely a fluke? Perhaps the players that faced off against Blaz’s Ryu simply lacked the match up experience since characters like Ken and Akuma had become more prevalent in the meta.

This past weekend, another major Street Fighter 6 tournament unfolded with Red Bull Kumite 2025. There were some many big names present at the event such as Zeta|Kakeru, WBG|MenaRD, KSG|Xiaohai, G8S|Gachikun, BST|Daigo, TM|NoahTheProdigy, Mouz|EndingWalker, Reject|BigBird, KC|Kilzyou, RB|Bonchan, Mouz|Problem X, and more.

In the end, it was BigBird who was able to take the entire tournament with his amazing Rashid plays. Of course, making this sort of prediction doesn’t feel too outlandish as Rashid is generally perceived to be a top tier in Street Fighter 6 while BigBird is known to be one of the best competitors in the scene right now.

EndingWalker came in second place while only using a single character — Ryu. What’s interesting is that EndingWalker was even able to eliminate Kakeru’s JP with a 5-3 set victory. Indeed, this is quite the accomplishment seeing as how JP is observed to be one of Ryu’s worst match ups.

He was even able to take out Bonchan during the event. Notably, Bonchan was using Akuma, a combatant that’s generally viewed as being the superior choice to Ryu, though at the cost of lower stamina.

Is Ryu just that underrated or is the balance of Street Fighter 6 so tight that even a character regarded as being on the lower end of the tier lists competitively viable?

Regardless, we’re eagerly awaiting for the reveal of Elena’s gameplay trailer. Additionally, we’re expecting the Season 3 balance patch to also drop alongside Elena, though this has yet to be confirmed by Capcom.

If Ryu ends up getting some major buffs in the Season 3 patch (whenever it goes live), he could end up becoming a major threat in the new meta. It really does feel like just a few adjustments in the right areas could do a lot for Ryu considering how he’s managed to surprise everyone with these sort of results.

Ryu mains may be rising up soon. We’ll just have to see if things actually play out that way.

U.S. and Canadian users will have to wait a little longer. The update will roll out for them starting April 10 and 11, respectively. To check whether your phone has received the update, simply head over to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

This is the first batch of rollout, and it also includes the Samsung Galaxy Flip 6 and Fold 6 devices. The second batch will bring the Android 15 update to a wider range of Samsung smartphones. This will include the Galaxy S23 series, Flip 5 and Fold 5, Galaxy Tab S10 and S9 series.

One UI 7 not only brings Android 15 to Samsung devices, but revamps the entire interface with a fresh set of icons, redesigned quick settings, and of course, the Now bar. We have already gone in-depth with all the new features in a separate post. That said, I am glad that users won’t have to wait anymore, as the frustration of having to wait for months for the update was reaching its limits.

So, if your phone has got the new One UI 7 update, then let us know in the comments below and help out other readers.

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is playable on the Switch 2 but there aren’t any enhancements for it… at least not now

Nintendo finally unveiled about everything there is to know about their upcoming console during their Switch 2 focused Direct. Within that presentation, it was also revealed that Kirby Air Riders is set to be released sometime in July 2025, which means that we’ve still got at least a few years of waiting ahead of us until the next Super Smash Bros. entry for the Switch 2.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Super Smash Bros. won’t be immediately playable on the Switch 2. Leading up to this showcase livestream, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa told fans and investors that certain games from the Switch will be backwards compatible on the Switch 2.

As it turns out, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be among the games that will be backwards compatible. During the Nintendo Direct presentation, it was stated that there are three types of games that will be playable on the Switch 2.

The first type of game are games that are exclusively for the Switch 2. Games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are among these sort of games. More than likely, Kirby Air Riders will also be a Switch 2 exclusive.

There will also be “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” games that will effectively act as rereleases of games from the Switch on the Switch 2. Upgrade packs will be available that will enhance certain aspects of the game specifically for the Switch 2.

Games included in this category are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Super Mario Party Jamboree.

Unfortunately, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is not one of those games. Instead, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is simply being listed as being a “compatible Switch 1 game” for the Switch 2. Notably, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was displayed at the front and center while this was being revealed.

For now, it would seem that Nintendo has no plans to port an enhanced update of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to the Switch 2. There aren’t any additional features being added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that we know of.

Having said all of that, there’s always the possibility of that changing in the future. Being that Kirby Air Riders is slated for a 2025 release window, we have to imagine that it’s nearly done. It also doesn’t seem like the type of game that will necessarily require DLC.

Once Masahiro Sakurai is finished with that project, he’ll likely be ready to move on to a new game project. Before then, he might consider working on a few enhancements for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate specifically for the Switch 2 to tide fans over.

However, I think the more likelier possibility is that Sakurai will simply move forward with the next Super Smash Bros. entry on the Switch 2 while observing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a finished project. Ultimately though, we’ll just have to see how things play out from here to find out.
