The development was made known on the Air Peace X handle on Saturday.

The airline wrote, “London service has commenced and we’re delighted to have achieved yet another feat in our drive to continually provide peaceful connectivity across cities.

“A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this launch.”

This marks a significant milestone for Nigerian aviation, re-establishing a direct connection to London after a gap of several years. Passengers can now enjoy a more convenient travel experience, eliminating the need for layovers and connecting flights.

Air Peace will operate daily flights using a combination of Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, known for their spacious cabins and comfortable amenities. This increased capacity is expected to cater to the high demand for travel between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

The successful launch comes after Air Peace secured the necessary permits, including the Foreign Carrier Operator Permit (FCOP) and Third Country Operator Permit, in November 2023. The airline also received support from the Nigerian government, with both the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment present at the inaugural flight.

Air Peace‘s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema, expressed his delight at this achievement, highlighting the airline’s commitment to providing “peaceful connectivity across cities.” This new route is expected to benefit not only passengers but also the Nigerian economy by boosting tourism and trade opportunities.

  • Top People From Abuja, Lagos Are Behind Oil Theft In Niger Delta Region – Ex-Bayelsa Governor, Dickson

Former governor of Bayelsa State and serving Senator, Seriake Dickson, has accused top people residing in Lagos and Abuja as masterminds of the oil theft on the Niger Delta soil.

Dickson, who is a Senator representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly made this revelation when he appeared on “Inside Sources” with Laolu Akande, a socio-political programme which was aired on Channels Television on Friday.

He went on to say that the official system and oil firms profit from oil theft in the Niger Delta, and he lamented the lack of national values that leads people to exploit the country’s resources for personal gain.

Dickson said, “Why should a country like Nigeria that has been producing oil, exporting oil for the past 70 years not have a scientific way of metering, recording what leaves, what is pumped, what is sold and what is not sold? And it’s deliberate.

“It’s not a Niger Delta thing; it’s just happening there and it is unfortunate that it has destroyed communities because there is too much illegal money, illegal arms, illicit drugs and it has fueled cultism because people want to get the loyalties of young people to be able to hold territories where oil facilities are. They need weapons and young men that are always high on drugs. You think a man who slaughters and cuts off a man’s head and dismember him is normal? So, those are people who are actively on drugs.

“People from Abuja and Lagos are the masterminds and the official system is not ignorant and not innocent. The official security system, the official oil system, the official federal system, all of it in its entirety. It’s a criminal, powerful system.”

He stated that, just as the world came together to condemn stolen blood diamonds, a worldwide consensus should emerge to force the international community to reject stolen crude oil from Nigeria.

Dickson, therefore, urged authorities at all levels to have great political resolve in order to put an end to the dangerous trend of oil theft.

  • Biden Approves 2,000 Bombs For Israel To Crush Hamas – Report

President Joe Biden of the United States has reportedly approved about 2,000 bombs and fighter jets for Israel.

The approval is apparently in support of the Israel Defense Forces ongoing war with the Hamas militants in Gaza.

Washington Post reports that “the new arms packages include more than 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs and 500 MK82 500-pound bombs, according to Pentagon and State Department officials familiar with the matter.”

The fresh approval comes after a series of multi-billion financial and military donations to Israel.

The conflict which started after Hamas invaded Southern Israel on October 7, has led to the death of over 25,000 civilians.

The United Nations had called on both sides to observe a permanent cease-fire.

But the Israeli aide has vowed to take out Hamas.

However, the US has called on Israel to exercise restraint and operate with precision to avoid civilian casualties.

  • I Stand With Tinubu — Buhari Insists

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his support for the administration of his successor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling on Nigerians to endure the economic hardship and back the administration’s policies and reforms.

On Friday, Buhari personally called Tinubu to wish him a happy 72nd birthday. During their conversation, Buhari reportedly told Tinubu that he was committed to his success and that of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“President Buhari prayed profusely for Tinubu’s success, saying that praying for a leader is imperative as his success and well-being are for the nation (everyone), adding that the accomplishments of the new administration must be seen as national achievements,” Garba Shehu, Buhari’s former special assistant on media and publicity, said in a tweet.

This came after Buhari had praised Tinubu earlier this month for doing “very well” in governing Nigeria despite the “prevailing circumstances.”

The ex-president had acknowledged the tough job of leading Africa’s most populous nation.

Since taking office on May 29, 2023, Tinubu has implemented some reforms, including removing fuel subsidy and attempting to unify Nigeria’s multiple exchange rates.

This resulted in economic hardship which in turn spurred protests by individuals and groups, who kicked against the rising prices of commodities and plunging rate of the Naira against the dollar.

However, Buhari had maintained that Nigerians should persevere and continue backing the new president’s policies.

“Nigeria is so complex. Really, there isn’t much anybody can do,” he stated during a meeting with customs officials in his hometown of Daura earlier this month.
