  • Princess of Wales was forced to disclose her cancer diagnosis after news threatened to leak, new report claims

Princess of Wales was forced to disclose her cancer diagnosis after news threatened to leak, new report claims

The Princess of Wales’s video announcement detailing her cancer treatment was rushed out by Kensington Palace aides after her diagnosis had been leaked, new reports have claimed.

Kate Middleton confirmed she had been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing ‘preventative chemotherapy’ for the disease in a video message she released on March 22.

Now, a well-placed source has claimed the timing of the video had nothing to do with the speculation that would have come from her missing church on Easter morning, but instead because someone knew about her health condition.

Kensington Palace had been contacted about Kate’s diagnosis, leaving no option but to hurry to get ahead of the story, the insider told the Daily Mail’s Ephraim Hardcastle column.

It is unclear as to whether the leak came from within The London Clinic, where the Princess underwent abdominal surgery in January, or from elsewhere.

‘Whatever the reason, the universal acclaim heaped on Kate confirmed it was the right decision’, the column said.

After weeks of frenzied speculation on social media about her health and well-being, Kate released the candid video message just over a week ago, confirming she is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.

The princess, 42, spoke about the ‘huge shock’ after tests identified cancer following her abdominal surgery and the ‘incredibly tough couple of months’ her family have experienced, with her voice cracking with emotion at times during the footage.

The form of cancer has not been disclosed but the future Queen began a course of ‘preventative chemotherapy’ late in February, and is said to have a positive mindset for her recovery and is in good spirits, describing herself as ‘well and getting stronger every day’.

The King, diagnosed with cancer in February, is said to be ‘proud’ of his ‘beloved’ daughter-in-law for her ‘courage’ in speaking about her treatment and has remained in close contact during the past few weeks.

Queen Camilla said this past weekend that the Princess of Wales is ‘thrilled’ by all the public support when she met two sisters holding posters with the poignant words ‘send our love to Kate’.

The King has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer since early February after he had an operation for an enlarged prostate at the London Clinic.

It was gathered that the terrorists stormed the town in the early hours of Tuesday and abducted a yet-to-be-confirmed number of Muslim worshippers who were observing midnight prayers in a mosque.

Terrorists on Tuesday morning attacked Gusau town in the Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State and kidnapped several Muslim worshippers.

It was gathered that the terrorists stormed the town in the early hours of Tuesday and abducted a yet-to-be-confirmed number of Muslim worshippers who were observing midnight prayers in a mosque.

A security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who shared the incident in a post on X platform said the terrorists attacked the town at around 2am.

Makama wrote, “In the early morning of Tuesday at about 0200hr, bandits sneaked into Gusau Town and abducted several worshippers in a Mosque while they were observing tahajjud (midnight) prayers.”

SaharaReporters made several efforts to confirm the incident from the Zamfara State Police Command but the efforts failed as the Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, neither answered calls made to his phone number nor responded to a text message sent to him till the time of filing this report.

  • ‘We’re waiting for you’, IPOB tells Enugu gov, Mbah over alleged plans to erase group

Proscribed Igbo separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has warned Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State over his alleged plans to destroy the group in the state.

The Biafra agitators who issued the warning in a statement on Monday by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said the alleged plans by Mbah was quite unfortunate as he was threading a dangerous path.

Powerful cautioned the governor against being a part of shame and destruction as such a move, like others in the past, was bound to backfire.

The group noted that attempts by Mbah to rope in some people as members of IPOB was not in good faith as he only wanted to give the group a bad name.

    The IPOB statement reads:
“IPOB is working hard to provide security and direction that many Southeastern Governors have refused or failed to provide.

“While their counterparts in the Northern territory are being funded and protected by the Nigeria government, Southeastern Governors are conspiring to destroy IPOB, who is their last line of defense in Biafra Land.

“Some Governors in the southeast are under pressure from the Fulani Caliphate in the Nigerian government to destroy IPOB to pave the way for their foot soldiers, the murderous Fulani jihadist herdsmen terrorists to invade Alaigbo. Peter Mba, we are waiting for you and your government,” the group warned.

    Continuing, Powerful said:

“Dr Mbah mentioned eight none IPOB members whom he wrongly linked to IPOB. They are Mazi Sunday Obodo, Mazi Destiny Okoye, Mazi Chukwura Okey, Mazi Emeka Onu, Mazi Friday Egwu, Mazi Orji Ndu, Mazi Stephen Madu and Mazi Buchi Eze.

“For clarity and record purpose, those Peter Mba linked to IPOB are not IPOB members and the movement never seen these thugs as IPOB members, so Peter Mba you must stop mentioning them as IPOB members IPOB doesn’t engage criminals.

“In the desperation to honor his agreement with the Fulani Nationalists, Governor Peter Mba will destroy Enugu State.

“Dr. Peter Mba wants to join a Governor from the east and some from the Northern part of the country who enrich themselves from insecurity by collecting more money from security votes.

“These people mentioned above as IPOB in 2012 the time IPOB was a child of two years will destroy Peter Mba and his government in Enugu State.

“IPOB did not call for protest in any part of the Southeast. Nevertheless, whether rumors of protest or not, IPOB won’t succumb to any blackmail or threat.

“IPOB is focused on the restoration of Biafra independence as a sovereign nation and is not against or after any governor and we are not interested in their political blackmail and propaganda.

“But any government that is against IPOB, we shall be against it. Since they selected Peter Mba as governor of Enugu State last year and he has been working round to fight and destroy IPOB which is not possible, but ask your fellow Fulani puppet in Imo State how market he bought what he cannot cook.

“The only beef Dr. Peter Mba has with IPOB is our stand against Fulani ranch establishment in Enugu State.

“IPOB maintains our “no” stance on Fulani ranches, and there is nothing Peter Mba can do to placate IPOB to establish Fulani ranch (RUGA settlement) in Enugu State.

“While IPOB is countering the influx of Fulani militias into Enugu communities, Peter Mba is encouraging Fulani herdsmen to take over some communities.

“But irrespective of the evil agreement that Peter Mba has with his Fulani masters, IPOB will never allow Fulani to occupy any inch of land in Biafra land.

“We challenge Peter Mba to start planned attacks on IPOB members in Enugu and face the consequences.

“Your fellow Imo State counterpart should tell you of the outcome of his choice to fight IPOB with Ebubeagu militia and Nigerian security agencies.

“IPOB will be waiting for Dr. Peter Mba to unleash his newly recruited security outfit. He who fetches an ant infested firewood will definitely have lizards as guests.”

  • We Are Lobbying FG To Secure Release Of Nnamdi Kanu —Kalu

    Nnamdi-Kanu

…Says SEDC Bill At Conference Committee Stage

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has revealed that frantic efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

He said that while the court processes are ongoing, political solutions are being worked out.

Speaking at the special edition of “The Ben Kalu’s Mandate”, a radio programme of FLO FM, Umuahia, Abia State on Monday virtually, the deputy speaker said that it was deliberate to work behind the scene to realise the objective.

Kalu’s clarification came on the heels of an enquiry by the programme anchor, Wisdom Thomas of the Peace In South East Project (PISE-P), a recently launched initiative of the Deputy Speaker which calls for a non kinetic measure to resolve the security challenges in the South East has abandoned the IPOB leader.

While calling for support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the deputy speaker also hinted of a likely visit by the elders of Igbo land to engage President Bola Tinubu on familiar issues affecting the South East.

He said: “The Peace in South East Project (PISE-P) has reconciliation in the mix of what we are trying to achieve. We recognise the importance of our brother, Nnamdi Kanu in the peace agenda we are pushing. That’s the truth, and I have been very vocal about it. I am not hiding it.

“I have always told people that I will never deny Nnamdi Kanu. He’s my brother. We come from the same place and I will never be happy having him incarcerated when we can have him out and increase our pursuit towards peace.

“But we may not advance all the things we are doing backdoor but I can assure you that all the powers-that-be in this country know that people like us are not sitting on the fence.

“I don’t know about the next person but I am talking about Benjamin Okezie Kalu. I am not sitting on the fence about it. I am lobbying.

“And I am happy with the statement that he made the last time he was in court. He said all those who are causing violence are not IPOB people, that anybody who is using his name to be causing violence is a hater of Ndi Igbo.

“Look, Igbos are not known for violence. We are known for trade, being creative. Call it Nollywood, we are the engine room that started the creative industry.

“We are not thieves, not known for violence. We put our energy towards creating wealth.

“We are not life killers and anybody coming now to introduce what is strange to us, it’s either the person is not an Igbo man or we should question where he is coming from.

“Burning things down is not how we show our strength. How we show our strength is that when we enter your community, we make wealth to better our lives. That’s our strength.

“I am happy he sounded that warning. I am happy we are coming together to achieve it. And I want to thank the people.

“Since we launched this programme about 4 months now, there is a little bit of peace and it is the combined effort of everyone coming together, understanding that it is true we need peace. Let’s be calm.

“Let’s support this government. And I want to thank the people of the south east for not joining the protest. I want to thank Ohaneze Ndi Igbo for sending out messages and saying no, we should not protest too.

Number one reason: The President from the south. He didn’t create the problem. He’s also giving us appointments. So, we must give him the support.

“As we are asking Mr. President to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for us and giving us South East Development Commission, we must on the other show him loyalty by making sure that there is peace in our area. No violence, support his government.”

Speaking on the present state of the South East Development Commission Bill, Kalu said that the piece of legislation is at the conference committee stage where some issues regarding the confirmation of the commissioners are being resolved.

“The South East Development Commission Bill is before the Senate at the moment and it has gone through 3rd reading.

“What is happening at the moment is what we call the conference committee that will go through the bill and find out areas of divergence and convergence on only one clause that they want to amend and that clause has to do with the appointment of the commissioners to be confirmed only by the Senate and not the national assembly involving the House of Representatives like we have drafted it. It’s a minor issue which the House will be willing to let go.

“So, that is the only thing that is remaining and I am sure by the time we resume, the Committee that has been formed to look at the issue, the conference committee will tender their report.

“We believe that by the time it gets to the presidency, it will be assented to by the peace-loving president of the federal Republic of Nigeria who actually loves the Igbos and interested in making a mark in Igbo land”, Kalu said.

  • Lawyers Accuse Gombe Governor, Inuwa Yahaya and APC Of Owing N40Million Legal Fee For Election Cases After 15 Months, Threaten Legal Action

The Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya and his party, the All Progressives Congress, have been accused of owing their attorneys who represented the party in court at the governor’s behest for the pre-election cases filed against him and the party by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to letters from Steel Attorneys obtained by SaharaReporters, the governor and the party have owed its lawyers N40 million for the election cases handled for him for over 15 months.

SaharaReporters in November 2023 reported how the Court of Appeal sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, affirmed the election of Governor Yahaya.

The appeal court dismissed the appeal filed by Muhammad Jibrin Barde of the PDP.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Yahaya the winner of the governorship election after getting 342,821 votes to beat his closest rival Jibrin Barde who polled 233,131 votes.

The first letter obtained by SaharaReporters from the lawyers which was addressed to the governor and dated August 17, 2023, was titled, “RE: Letter Of Engagement To Represent The All Progressives Congress In Suit Nos: FHC/ABJ/CS/1301/2022: CA/ABJ/CV/109/2023; AND SC/ / 2023 between; Peoples Democratic Party & 2 Ors. Vs Independent National Electoral Commission & Ors. Demand For The Negotiated Forty Million (40,000,000.00) Naira Only, Being Payment For Professional Fees (Court Of Appeal) In The Above Referenced Case.”

The letter read, “As you will recall, via personal meetings held at the Gombe State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, phone and WhatsApp conversations and letters of engagement dated 31st August, 2022 and 23 January, 2023 respectively, you had engaged our firm to lead a consortium of seasoned Legal Practitioners to represent the 2nd Defendant (Respondent) in the above referenced suit and the subsequent appeals at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Nigeria. (Further details of which are not necessary at this juncture).

“Our firm effectively carried out your instructions- and in a judgement delivered on Wednesday, the 24th day of January, 2023, the Federal High Court, Abuja per Honourable Justice B.F.M. Nyako upheld our notice of Preliminary objection by declining jurisdiction in the Plaintiffs’ case and in so doing, struck out the case of the plaintiff and accordingly entered judgement in our favour.

“Dissatisfied with the above judgement, the Plaintiffs appealed the said judgement in CA/ABJ/CV/109/2023. This appeal we also successfully defended the party in and in a judgement delivered on Thursday, 23 February, 2023, the Court of Appeal found for us and dismissed the Appeal. Recall our previous briefings to you and your lieutenants on these successes.”

The August 17, 2023 letter was signed by Monday Akpomiemie, LP, for Principal Partner, Steel Attorneys.

In another letter from the lawyers dated November 7, 2023, the attorneys wrote, “RE: Letter Of Engagement To Represent The All Progressives Congress In Suit Nos: FHC/ABJ/CS/1301/2022: CA/ABJ/CV/109/2023 and SCL /2023 between PDP & 2 Ors. Vs INEC & Ors. A Soft Reminder To Pay The Negotiated Forty Million Naira (40.000.000.00) Only Being Payment For Professional Fees In The Above Referenced Case.

“The above subject matter refers please. As your Excellency is no doubt aware, it’s ten months since you briefed us and nine months since we effectively represented and defended your interest in the above referenced suit.

“As an ardent Muslim and a true believer, we are conscious of the fact that your Excellency, is fully conversant with the provisions of Quran 7: 85 which mandates; ‘Nor withhold from the people the things that are their due.’ Indeed, the Holy prophet in a Hadith also posited, ‘I am the adversary of a man who employs a worker but does not pay him rightful wages.’

“The Bible also contains similar injunctions. In 1 Timothy 5; 18, God Almighty had mandated; We are by this correspondence officially making a demand for the payment of our negotiated professional fees which parties had agreed as forty million (40,000,000.00) naira only.

“As stated in our previous communications to you, the other Attorneys engaged in this brief have ran out of patience’ and have been bandying threats against our principal partner.

“By this correspondence, Your Excellency is required to facilitate the payment of the agreed sum of forty million naira (40,000,000.00) within seven (7) days of the receipt of this correspondence using the following bank details;     TAKE NOTICE that upon failing to meet the above demand, we shall be left with no choice than to resort to all legal means possible to recover the full and total sum including cost and damages from you. Whilst looking forward to your expeditious positive action, please accept as usual our warm professional regards always.”

The letter signed by M. Abubakar, LP for Steel Attorneys, further read, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain… the labourer is worthy of his wages. It is similarly provided in, Leviticus 19; 13; ‘And you shall not keep for yourself the wages of a labourer until morning.’ Equally in Deuteronomy 24: 15, it was enjoined upon us: ‘Each day you shall give him his wages, and not let the sun go down on it, for he is poor and has set his heart on it: lest he cry out against you to the LORD, and it be sin to you.’

“Your Excellency, today makes it 260 days since we, as diligent labourers completed our job but without our just wage, we had pleaded and supplicated for it. Severally informed you and your aides of pressing needs and challenges we are facing yet we have been ignored, leading to untold inconveniences, hardship and unjust depravation to us.

“Give the worker his wage before his sweat dries up, and inform him of his wage while he is still working.’ Is the express instruction of the Holy Prophet but our sweet has since dried up and that wage we have been denied.

“Without prejudice to our earlier correspondence dated August 17, 2023, we have restrained from taking legal steps to recover the wages due to us because of personal relationship, our profound love for you, your interest, name and reputation and because we do not intend to burn bridges.

“We shall appreciate if your Excellency reciprocates this gesture by obliging us and paying our due agreed sum or call our principal and lead counsel; Marshal Abubakar, LP to sort out any grey area.

“We are in urgent need of the professional fee for the job completed as each member of the team has urgent and pressing needs the money is direly needed to sort, please. We once again beseech your Excellency to mandate the payment using the following account details please.”

In another letter addressed to the governor and dated March 28, 2024, titled, “Final letter of demand to pay the Negotiated Forty Million Naira Only Being Payment For Professional Fees In The Above Referenced Case,” the law firm threatened to sue the governor if the fee is not paid within three days.

However, the Gombe Government House has denied that the governor or the APC in the state ever engaged the law firm.

Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, (Press Affairs), Gombe Government House told SaharaReporters: “There exists no record of the engagement of a firm named Steel Attorneys to represent either the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the Governor at any judicial level – be it the Tribunal, Appeal Court, or Supreme Court.

“Law firms representing our party, the Governor, and his deputy were issued with engagement letters. For emphasis, we have never retained the services of a firm of solicitors/barristers by the name – Steel Attorneys. All counsels engaged by us at all levels of election proceedings are duly remunerated according to terms mutually agreed upon.”

Misilli described the allegations made by the law firm as media blackmail and warned that the governor might seek legal redress.

However, in two separate letters of engagement sighted by our correspondent, dated March 7, 2023 and August 31, 2023 respectively, and addressed to the Principal Partner, Steel Attorneys, the party engaged the firm to represent it in the quoted suits from the Federal High Court to the Supreme Court. Regarding professional fees, it was clearly stated, “Kindly note that Muhammed Inuwa shall be responsible for the payment of your professional fees.”

  • Police warns Nigerians against jungle justice, mob actions

Nigerians have been warned to desist from engaging in jungle justice anywhere in the country as such affects the effective administration of justice.

It could also be much detrimental to the smooth dispensation of justice in recorded cases in Nigeria as a country.

The call was made by the Force Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a press statement made available to Journalists in Bauchi on Monday.

The FPPRO stated that, “It is pertinent to understand that the act of taking the law into one’s hands has often been described and referred to as jungle justice.”

According to him, “The act has globally been condemned for many obvious reasons, particularly as a parasitic hindrance to strengthening the criminal justice system.”

He stressed that, “For instance, Police operatives attached to the Itire Divisional Police Headquarters of Lagos State on the 25th of March 2024 received a report from a man who resides along Shonde Street, Itire, that a group of hoodlums were vandalizing his vehicle and he raised an alarm which led to the arrest of one of the vandals.”

READ ALSO:Police arrests suspected kidnapper in Adamawa

The man further added that the vandal was handed over to one Agunbiade Adekunle, the security guard of the street, who then resorted to killing and setting the vandal ablaze.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed that the guard has, however, been arrested and will be charged to court for murder lamenting that, “There are other similar cases recorded across the country that have been condemned and hindered the smooth investigation and prosecution of many cases.

“The Nigeria Police Force therefore condemns and urges the public to shun jungle justice, mob actions, and other forms of extrajudicial killings as jungle justice is a criminal act and grave violation of human rights that threatens the fabric of a civilized society, perpetuating a cycle of violence, prejudice, and lawlessness,” he added.

The FPPRO stressed that, “It undermines the authority of legitimate institutions and weakens the rule of law.”

According to him, “Jungle justice is a dangerous and regressive practice that has no place in a civilized society. Instead of promoting justice, it breeds violence, fear, and injustice.”

He concluded that, “It is imperative that communities reject vigilantism and uphold the rule of law, ensuring that justice is served through fair and transparent legal processes. Only then can we truly uphold the principles of democracy, human rights, and equality for all.”
