Police arrest man for allegedly stabbing his wife

The Delta State Police Command has arrested one Nicholas Charles for the murder of his wife’s friend, Ngozi Sharon William, in Asaba, the state capital.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, who disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba, on Thursday, April 11, 2024, said the deceased, a mother of three, was stabbed to death by the suspect when she paid his family a visit.

“On the 5th April 2024, at about 2300hours, one Ngozi Sharon William went to visit a family friend, one Mr Nicholas Charles ‘m’ and his wife at No.10 Adizue Onochei Street Asaba,” the CP stated.

“While the said Ngozi was in the apartment, a disagreement ensued between herself and the said Nicholas, which took them to the kitchen. During the course of the disagreement, the suspect, Mr. Nicholas picked a knife on the fridge and stabbed the victim which led to her death. Suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”

LIB gathered that Sharon, from Enugu State, also worked with the suspect’s wife, Mrs. Ijeoma Precious Nicholas.

According to a Delta activist, Marvin Mordi, Sharon assisted Mrs. Nicholas in producing fresh fruit juice and tiger nut drink.

“They make the drink in the house of Mrs. Nicholas, mostly at night, and after production they supply In the morning,” he explained.

“Based on this policy, Sharon closes from work everyday at 5am and either Mrs. Ijeoma Nicholas or Mr. Charles Nicholas drops her everyday at her house

“Sharon had an issue with her friend, Mrs Ijeoma Precious Nicholas, according to Sharon’s daughter, that made her stop work for about 2 weeks.

“During the Easter celebration, Ijeoma Precious Nicholas called Sharon and pleaded with her to please come and assist her in the production, saying that the pressure was much on her.

“Sharon obliged and resumed on Easter Monday. She was stabbed to death on Friday, same week and her dead body was dumped at her employee street half naked.

“It was revealed by Sharon’s daughter that her mother left for Mrs Ijeoma house to help her produce fresh fruit juice. They became concerned when their mom didn’t return and neither Mrs. Ijeoma nor the husband dropped her as usual

“Mrs Ijeoma Precious Nicholas’ husband has been arrested and currently at the police headquarters for further investigation while she is on the run..

“Mrs Ijeoma Precious Nicholas is a worker at the House on The Rock Church Asaba same as her husband, who is also a Nollywood actor

“We are calling on the rightful authorities that this murder shouldn’t be swept under the carpet. We demand Justice for Sharon,” he concluded.

  • Borno CJTF Brutalises Nigerian Youth With Gun Barrel, Machete, Sticks For Wearing Afro Hairstyle, Forcibly Cuts His Hair And Detains Victim For Refusing To Pay For ‘Service’

A youth identified as Titus Durkwa David has narrated how he was assaulted, brutalised, humiliated, and detained by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Maiduguri, Borno State for wearing an Afro.

Afro is a hairstyle popular with black people in the 1970s in which the hair is cut into a large round shape.

David said he was tagged a criminal for wearing the hairstyle and brutalised by 10 members of the task force, who hit him with a machete, gun barrel, and sticks. He said he was subsequently subdued and his Afro was shaved off.

Narrating his ordeal in a Facebook post on Thursday, David said, “Earlier this afternoon, around 1:00 p.m., while on my way back home from my friend’s place at Federal Low-cost Maiduguri, Borno State, wearing my native attire and sporting a clean afro haircut, looking decent and presentable, I alighted from the Keke Napep at the popular Mala-Kachalla Roundabout.

“Upon disembarking, an individual from the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) approached me. He told me that I looked like a criminal and one of those nuisances carrying out illegal activities in the city because of my haircut (afro), and instructed me to meet their commander, who was standing nearby in a sky blue native attire.

“At that moment, I tried my best to remain calm and respectfully challenged him to justify how I resembled the people he accused me of being. He couldn’t provide a satisfactory response, and as we conversed, two more of his colleagues joined us, and we proceeded to see their commander.

“Upon meeting the commander, I greeted him and recounted what had transpired. He then inquired about my identity, whether I was a military personnel or not. I introduced myself modestly, avoiding any hint of disrespect. He explained that he was ordered to shave the hair of anyone with a hairstyle other than a low-cut.

“I remained composed while engaging with the illiterate commander when suddenly, I was slapped across the face and pushed to the ground by approximately ten CJTF members. Despite my resistance, I was subjected to blows from a machete, gun barrel, and sticks to my back. I was forcibly subdued and my hair shaved as seen in the below pictures.”

David, who shared pictures of his new look after the humiliation suffered at the hands of the security task force, said despite the assault, he was asked to pay for the service of a barber engaged to cut his hair. And when he refused, he was detained.

“I was told to pay for the services of the haircut to a local barber (Mai Wanzam), I refused and we fought again, leading them to hold me in their custody for about an hour,” he said.

David alleged that some members of the task force had been engaging in illegal activities but the state governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum had been ignoring such.

“These CJTF members, who have been oppressing innocent citizens like myself, are doing more harm than good. The fact that they carry guns doesn’t mean one can’t fight back to the last straw of the energy God has given us.

“For the record, these CJTF have been involved in numerous illegal and criminal activities within and around the state, and the Governor is aware but turns a blind eye.

“Dear Governor Engr Babagana Umara Zulum, with all due respect, I urge you to call upon these illiterate individuals who are ignorant of their responsibilities before the situation escalates further.

“As for today’s ordeal, I will live to fight another day, and there, we shall settle the score. I will never forget these.

“This is just the beginning of the end,” he said.

    Ogbonnaya Onu

The Governor of Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti, has expressed shock and sadness over the death of the First Civilian Governor of the Old Abia state, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu who passed on a few hours ago. Dr. Onu was the governor before the creation of Ebonyi out of the old Abia and Enugu states.

Otti described Onu’s death as a huge loss to Abia State, Ebonyi State, the Igbo nation and Nigeria as a whole. He said Onu is one of such living statesmen with the character, carriage and statesmanly disposition required to reposition the nation for the better.

According to Governor Otti “Dr. Ogbonnaya was a gentleman and statesman with rich experience and wealth of knowledge, and was very outstanding in his character, comportment and engagements.

“Even though he held public offices both as governor and minister respectively at difficult times, he was never associated with conducts or controversies capable of diminishing his reputation and personality.

“We are therefore saddened by his demise at a time his statesmanly contributions and interventions were needed in Nigeria.”

Otti promised that Abia would honour and immortalise Onu by ensuring that the democratic journey he started in Abia as a Civilian Governor many years ago is advanced to a level where the welfare and well-being of Abians would be made an institutionalised priority at all times, and called on today’s politicians to emulate Dr. Onu’s model of decency, decorum and contentment in public service as a way of ensuring sanity in our body polity.

  • Actor Cole Brings Plenty’s death investigation indicates no foul play was involved after his lifeless body was found in wooded area in Kansas

    Actor Cole Brings Plenty

An investigation into the death of actor Cole Brings Plenty has found that no foul play was involved in his sad demise.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office released an update after the actor was found dead last Friday at the age of 27 in a wooded area in Kansas.

The Lakota actor is the nephew of Yellowstone star Mo Brings Plenty, 54, and appeared in the prequel 1923.

‘Detectives, crime scene investigators, and the Medical Examiner’s Office have been working diligently with the Lawrence Police Department and the Brings Plenty family. There is no indication of foul play in the death of Cole Brings Plenty,’ said a statement released by Sheriff Calvin Hayden.

The actor’s cause of death is not known.

Mo had shared a missing person poster of his nephew on Instagram on Tuesday (April 2), announcing that Cole had been last seen the previous Sunday, ‘Easter night’.

Kansas police had issued an affidavit for Cole’s arrest in relation to a domestic violence incident on Sunday.

The Lawrence, Kansas Police Department stated on Tuesday afternoon April 2 that officers submitted an affidavit to the Douglas County District Attorney for the arrest of Cole.

Officers received reports of a ‘female screaming for help’ on Sunday morning at an apartment in Lawrence, according to 12News.

It was alleged that Cole had ‘driven away from the scene and was thought to be headed southbound on Highway 59,’ the site claimed. He was last known to be driving a white 2005 Ford Explorer with a Kansas license plate.

The missing person’s poster from Mo’s Instagram reported that Cole missed a scheduled appointment with his agent for a TV show, a behaviour described as ‘uncharacteristic’.

The poster also highlighted that his cell phone was switched off.

Cole, known for his role as sheepherder Pete Plenty Clouds in 1923, was last spotted leaving Lawrence, Kansas, in his car on Sunday night, as indicated by the poster.

Mo’s Yellowstone co-star, Cole Hauser, who portrays Rip Wheeler in the series, also shared the poster on his Instagram, urging followers to provide any information if they have seen Cole since Easter evening in Kansas City.
