  • Movie producer, Adanma Luke, breaks her silence on the loss of cast and crew (video)

Adanma Luke, the producer of the movie Jnr Pope and four others were working on before they died in a boat mishap on April 10, has broken her silence.

    In a video she posted on her Instagram page, Adanma said she was also supposed to be on the ill-fated boat. She captioned the video ;

    While speaking, she said she has not been quiet since the unfortunate incident. In her words;

‘’I have been so traumatized, so cold. This whole thing still feels like a dream to me. I have not been able to make any statement since because we have been trying to recover the bodies. I have been providing fuel money to those that have been looking for the bodies. I provided caskets, ambulances to make sure the bodies were conveyed to their villages to the families that wanted it to be done. I have not been quiet. I have been doing things just so these people can rest.

It is so sad this had to happen on my set. I blame myself because I would have been doing my thing in Lagos. I blame myself for coming to Asaba.

I was supposed to be on that boat. My production manager was calling me to bring the memory card so they could start filming and I told him to come and collect it. He said ‘Mama, you know this place is far, just bring it for us’.  I said why haven’t you people crossed? Why haven’t you people gone to work? He said they were waiting for Junior Pope to arrive.

Before now, on the 9th, they went there on their own. Junior Pope came on his own. On this 10th, while I was getting ready to go drop the card with them, I was accompanied by my brother’s two children who were supposed to be with me on that boat together. On getting there, I saw Emeka. He was my DOP. He was just sitting. I was surprised because I didn’t see others.

I asked him what is it? People surrounded him. He was quiet. I said Emeka, talk to me, what is it? why haven’t you crossed? Where is Ogolo? Where is everybody? has JP come? He was quiet.

Emeka now said ‘’JP Don go! Abigail don go! Friday don go! Precious don go! I still did not understand what he meant by that. I said Emeka what do you mean? Don go where? He said ‘’Them dey inside water!””

Adanma said she wanted to go into the water to search for them but was held back.

  • Beheading Of Minor By Almajiri: Kano Police Begins Investigation

    Kano-Police-Commissioner-Hussaini-Gumel

The Police Command in Kano State has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged beheading of a minor, Mohammed Saidu, by an Almajiri at Kanwa village, Madobi Local Government Area.

The Kano Commissioner of Police, Mr Usaini Gumel, said 6-year-old Saidu was allegedly killed by a 16-year-old Almajiri simply identified as Abdullahi.

Gumel said Abdullahi who hails from Zamfara, was sighted at Kanwa village by a good Samaritan while in possession of a blood-stained knife strongly suspected to be human blood.

Upon searches, he said the headless body of Saidu was found in a nearby primary school.

The CP said the suspect was then taken to the house of the village head to prevent him from being lynched.

However, the angry mob overwhelmed the village head, descended on the suspect and inflicted serious injuries on him, the commissioner said.

He said when the police arrived the suspect confessed to the crime, saying he dumped the head of the victim in a pit toilet adjacent to the primary school.

He said the suspect was taken to the Kwankwaso Cottage Hospital but died while receiving treatment.

The remains of the victim were recovered and moved to the hospital for examination and was later released to his relatives for burial, Gumel told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday.

  • Avoid religious and broke women

A Nigerian woman, Jane Chukwu, has advised men with dream and vision to avoid “broke and religious” women.

“Dear men who have dream and vision, avoid religious, broke and prayer house sisters,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday, April 11.

I mean those sisters who only job is running around church, doing nothing except going from one prayer meeting to another, those once who join busses to different states in the name of family deliverance.

Who are available for burials and visiting of the sick and people in church.

May you not be a victim of such human being without dream and vision.

May you not get trapped by those who are enveloped with wealth doesn’t matter, heaven is the goal.

They will come into your life, dump their bills on you and claim their prayers is the reason you are surviving and then blackmail you with I have a call from God.

Avoid them with everything in you. Dear sisters with vision, avoid the above male version.

Let them marry their type. Don’t be roped into their cage.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released details of 18 out of the 26 fresh multi-million-dollar and naira corruption charges preferred against Emefiele.

A high court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, has granted bail to the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, in the sum of N50 million.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released details of 18 out of the 26 fresh multi-million-dollar and naira corruption charges preferred against Emefiele.

Emefiele and Henry Isioma Omoile were arraigned at the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday by the EFCC on 26 fresh counts.

SaharaReporters had reported that Emefiele and Omoile would be arraigned on another charge in Abuja between April 25 and 26, 2024, according to his lawyer.

  • 2027: Ohanaeze Ndigbo faction seeks political alliance with north

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Secretary-General of a factional of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has called for a rekindling of old alliances that existed between the North and Eastern regions in time past.

Isiguzoro who made the call in a statement on Thursday, urged Northern elders to revert to the days of alliance between the two regions and reflect on the historical missteps of the Northern region from 1999 to 2023.

The Igbo socio-cultural group said the call became necessary following the recent statement by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), where its leadership expressed regret for supporting and voting President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential elections.

In the statement, NEF also noted that come 2027, the North will not repeat the mistake of voting Tinubu as they have been disappointed with his administration’s handling of insecurity in the Northern region.

However, in the statement by Ohaneze faction, lsiguzoro said the North must heed the call by the NEF with grace as they have been the architects of their own political misjudgments and blunders.

He emphasized that by embracing the reality of realignment with the South-East, it had become imperative for the Northern region’s future prosperity and economic growth stressing that without rekindling the traditional allegiance with the East, the North risks being enslaved by cunning politicians perpetuating a cycle of regrets that has plagued the region since 1999.

“The ongoing lamentations of Northern leaders within the first eleven months of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration have not gone unnoticed by Nigerians, particularly the Ndigbo,” the statement reads.

“Note worthy figures such as the Sultan of Sokoto, Emir of Kano and other eminent religious and traditional leaders have raised poignant concerns about the prevalent sufferings, insecurities, and poverty in the North.

“The voices of discontent from socio-cultural organizations and political figures in the North highlight a deep-seated dissatisfaction with the current trajectory.

“In the annals of history lay the poignant memories of the harmonious political alliances that once existed between the North and the East in the early ’60s.

“The partnership between the NPC and the NCNC stands as a beacon of unity and collaboration that the North should consider revisiting for future elections.”

Outlining a list of the political blunders the North have made since 1999, Isiguzoro said:

“The regrettable choices made in the past elections, as witnessed in Jos PDP 1998 convention, the Northern choice of Obasanjo over Ekwueme, the 2015 choice of Buhari over Jonathan, and in 2023 Tinubu over Obi, underscore the need for strategic realignment to avert future remorse.

“Ndigbo extends an olive branch to the Northern brethren, but the message remains clear. For it to pave the way for a prosperous future, a return to the table with the East is paramount.

“Though supporting President Tinubu until 2027 may seem prudent, the North must look towards collaborative efforts with the East, their traditional allies for sustained stability,” he added.

  • APC Guber Aspirant Accused Of Fuel Theft On CCTV Denies Allegation

Wale Akinterinwa, an Ondo State gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, has refuted allegations that his campaign convoy failed to pay for fuel recently purchased at Matrix Filling Station in Ondo Town.

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in circulation on social media shows vehicles numbering eight leaving the filling station while attendants were chasing after them, demanding payment. Some of the attendants who tried to stop them were also allegedly injured.

The narrator in the video claimed that Akinterinwa’s campaign convoy had refuelled at the station and fled without settling the bill amounting to approximately N150,000.

However, Akinterinwa, through his spokesperson Segun Ajiboye, dismissed the claims as “a lie from the pit of hell” and an “amateurish attempt by some desperate politicians to blackmail” his team.

Ajiboye explained that the vehicles in the campaign convoy did, in fact, purchase fuel at the station but made full payment for the fuel received.

He said, “Over the past few weeks, there have been sustained attacks on our members and the destruction of our billboards across the state. The last attack was in Owo, where, after destroying our billboards, they went from house to threaten our members not to venture out to receive our campaign team.

Explaining further, he said “The vehicles in the convoy of the campaign organisation indeed bought fuel at the station, duly paid for the fuel they vehicles received.

“Let it noted that our convoy, indeed bought fuel at the Matrix filling station at the Akure garage in Ondo town. All the vehicles in our convoy were served fuel and full payment was duly made.

“The latest attempt to blackmail our team has not come to us as a surprise in any way. Having exhausted all their weapons and wicked machinations, the desperate politicians have now resorted to use blackmail as their weapon of attack.

“Meanwhile, determined to get the root of the blackmail effort and to put the records straight, Hon Wale Akinterinwa has directed his lawyers to write the management of the filling station to confirm the authnticity of the video and the identity of the purported member of his convoy who allegedly refused to pay for the fuel he was served.”
