  • Predicted Manchester United starting XI for Premier League clash against West Ham

Manchester United is gearing up for a pivotal showdown against a West Ham team that’s been soaring this season, aiming to keep their resurgence alive. Following a thrilling 4-3 victory in their last Premier League match on Thursday night, where Erik ten Hag’s squad showcased their scoring prowess, anticipation is high for their next encounter.

While netting four goals indicates Manchester United’s offensive capabilities are sharpening, their defensive vulnerabilities, as seen in the recent game, raise concerns. West Ham’s current form suggests they will be a formidable opponent, necessitating a strong United line-up to maintain their momentum.

For the critical match at Old Trafford, where United seeks to extend their winning streak, we anticipate the team will field the same players who secured victory against Wolves. Despite conceding three goals in that match, the chosen XI demonstrated a blend of attacking strength and midfield solidity, making it United’s most reliable formation this season.

Predicted Manchester United XI to face West Ham: Onana; Dalot, Martinez, Varane, Shaw; Mainoo, Casemiro; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford, Hojlund.

  • Bayern Munich star is open to a move to Manchester United or Barcelona

Matthijs De Ligt, the 24-year-old Bayern Munich defender, is at the center of transfer speculation as the season draws to a close. Despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain, De Ligt’s preferences are reportedly elsewhere, with Manchester United and Barcelona emerging as his preferred destinations, according to Fichajes.

As a defender of high calibre, De Ligt’s addition to either Manchester United or Barcelona could significantly bolster their defensive lines. His experience with top-tier clubs like Juventus and Bayern Munich underscores his capability to adapt and thrive in competitive leagues such as the Premier League.

Manchester United, in need of defensive reinforcements, could see De Ligt as a potential upgrade to their current options, including Harry Maguire. For Barcelona, amidst financial struggles, acquiring a player of De Ligt’s stature would be challenging, yet he represents the ideal partner for Ronald Araujo in their defense.

The financial aspect of any potential deal cannot be overlooked, especially for Barcelona, who are navigating through economic hardships. Manchester United, however, appears to be in a position to afford the Dutch defender, provided they are willing to invest.

A critical factor in De Ligt’s transfer saga will be Champions League qualification. Manchester United’s performance this season has been inconsistent, and securing a top-four finish will be pivotal in their pursuit of De Ligt.

As both clubs weigh their options, the transfer market awaits the decision of one of football’s most sought-after defenders.

  • An ‘astronomical offer’ arrived for Bruno Fernandes in January window – but the Portuguese rejected it

In a testament to his dedication to Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes has reportedly declined a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal this January, despite the Saudi Arabian club presenting what has been described as an ‘astronomical offer’. This news comes via Record, as cited by Sport Witness, highlighting the Manchester United captain’s commitment to the Premier League giants.

Fernandes, who has previously played under Al-Hilal’s current manager, Jorge Jesus, at Sporting Club de Portugal, was apparently the subject of a significant approach by the Saudi team. Jesus, keen on a reunion with Fernandes, seems to have his sights set on continuing attempts to secure the midfielder’s services into the summer, according to the same sources.

Despite what many would consider an ‘irrefutable’ financial proposition, Fernandes has opted to remain at Old Trafford. His decision is fueled by a desire to continue competing for titles in European football, specifically with Manchester United. This indicates that, at least for now, both the player and the club are not entertaining thoughts of a transfer, even in the face of substantial monetary incentives.

The ongoing interest from Al-Hilal suggests that they might revisit their pursuit in the upcoming transfer window, depending on shifts in Fernandes’ career aspirations or potential uncertainties surrounding Manchester United’s future.

This situation underscores the strong bond Fernandes feels towards Manchester United and his determination to achieve more in European competitions, resisting lucrative offers from abroad.

In a recent match-up in Spain’s top football division, Mason Greenwood of Getafe and Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid were at the center of a controversy. The La Liga encounter saw Real Madrid secure a 2-0 victory against Getafe, with Joselu scoring both goals, pushing Real Madrid to lead the league standings, two points ahead of Girona.

The game, however, took a contentious turn due to an incident between Greenwood and Bellingham. Following a challenge from Bellingham on Greenwood during the second half, Bellingham was accused of making an offensive comment towards Greenwood, a claim that rapidly spread across social media platforms.

Despite the uproar on social media, it’s reported that Getafe and Greenwood are keen on not escalating the situation further.

Guillermo Rai reports that the message from inside Getafe is ‘what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch’.

Additionally, Jose Felix Diaz conveyed that Greenwood is not interested in creating any ‘fuss’, he does not want to amplify the situation with any further disputes about what Bellingham might have said during the game.

Nonetheless, despite Getafe’s and Greenwood’s intentions to downplay the event, La Liga has initiated an investigation following a formal complaint lodged by Getafe. The league has sought the assistance of a lip-reading expert to thoroughly examine the incident and ensure an appropriate response based on conclusive evidence.

This match marked the first confrontation between Greenwood and Bellingham in Spain since their respective transfers; Greenwood on a loan spell from Manchester United and Bellingham joining from Borussia Dortmund. Greenwood has made 18 league appearances this season, netting four goals. Bellingham, on the other hand, has had a standout season with Real Madrid, scoring 14 goals in 19 league appearances.

David de Gea is still on the lookout for a new team after his departure from Manchester United last summer, ending a significant 12-year tenure with the Premier League giant.

Despite being linked with clubs in the Saudi Pro League, de Gea has yet to commit to a new team and had even passed up on a January transfer opportunity with a Premier League club.

The Athletic have revealed that Nottingham Forest had shown interest in signing the 33-year-old as they looked to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season. Nevertheless, de Gea chose not to accept Forest’s proposition, which was described as a ‘short-term’ deal.

De Gea’s impressive career at Manchester United saw him make 545 appearances across all competitions, contributing to the team’s successes, including victories in the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Europa League. On the international stage, he has earned 45 caps for Spain.

As a free agent, de Gea remains available to join a new club despite the closing of the transfer window, keeping the door open for future opportunities as he continues his search for a new chapter in his career.

In the latest twist to a story that has captured the attention of football fans worldwide, MailOnline has enlisted the expertise of Jeremy Freeman, a renowned forensic lip-reader, to shed light on the words exchanged between Jude Bellingham and Mason Greenwood during a recent La Liga match.

The moment, caught on camera, showed Bellingham uttering a phrase towards the on-loan Manchester United striker right after a tackle, with his accent unmistakably from Birmingham.

The speculation has been rife regarding the brief exchange, leading to intense scrutiny and debate among fans and media alike. Stepping in to provide clarity, Jeremy Freeman was tasked by MailOnline to analyse the footage and deliver his professional judgment on the matter.

Freeman’s findings are now public. With a high degree of certainty, he states, “After carefully analysing the clip, I am 97 per cent confident that the spoken word is ‘rapist,’ particularly when considering the context in which it was used.” This statement aligns with the initial suspicions of many who watched the video, confirming the nature of Bellingham’s words towards Greenwood.

The revelation, prominently featured at the top of MailOnline’s football homepage, confirms the accuracy of the widespread speculation about the incident. • Roy Keane reveals the details of his conflict with Ryan Giggs that led to the Manchester United legend not communicating with his teammate for six months.

Roy Keane has opened up about a prolonged disagreement he had with fellow Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, revealing that they did not speak for half a year. Despite sharing the pitch at Old Trafford for over a decade and jointly achieving the historic Treble in 1999, the two clashed over Giggs’ refusal to participate in a club-related function.

Speaking on SkyBet’s Stick to Football podcast, Keane recounted the incident that led to the fallout, expressing his frustration over Giggs’ decision to skip the event. “I was fuming with him. Me and Giggsy didn’t speak for five or six months,” Keane shared, emphasizing the expectation for players to fulfill club duties, “You know [as a player] when you have to do something for your club – nobody wants to do anything at the club.”

The dispute dragged on for months, according to Keane, who felt irritated by Giggs’ one-off refusal to engage in team activities, despite generally being cooperative with such requests. “Giggs was obviously good with doing functions – it was just that day he went, ‘I’m not doing it’. And I was just irritated by him – simple as that – we dragged it on for a few months,” he explained.

Gary Neville, another teammate from their time at United, recalled finding himself in an awkward position during the peak of Keane and Giggs’ disagreement. Neville described an early morning when he unwittingly walked into an ongoing argument between the two. Despite his attempts to leave the volatile situation, upon his return, he found them still embroiled in conflict.

This wasn’t the only time Keane found himself at odds with a teammate. He also mentioned a year-long silent treatment with Gary Pallister, sparked by Pallister leaving a night out earlier than Keane had expected. Despite these conflicts, Keane acknowledged the transient nature of such disagreements among teammates, noting, “You just have these disagreements. Palli’s a good guy.”

  • Player & Manager Ratings: Wolves 3 – 4 Manchester United

In a thrilling encounter that encapsulated the highs and lows of football, Manchester United showcased their flair for dramatic conclusions, pulling off a sensational 4-3 victory against Wolves. The match, already a rollercoaster of emotions, culminated in 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo delivering a moment of pure brilliance. His 97th-minute curler not only sealed the win but also underscored United’s knack for unforgettable finishes.

The game was a testament to United’s ability to both dominate and falter in equal measure. After establishing a commanding 3-1 lead, United’s defense wobbled, conceding two goals in a mere nine minutes. It seemed all their efforts were on the brink of being nullified until Mainoo emerged as the hero, ensuring United left with all three points.

Earlier, Marcus Rashford had sought redemption on the pitch, turning his focus away from off-field distractions. Just a week removed from being spotted in Belfast, Rashford was pivotal in United’s attacking forays, contributing to the opening goal in the fifth minute.

Rasmus Hojlund, who assisted Rashford’s goal, continued to impress throughout the match. His combination of strength and savvy play brought United their second goal, further tilting the scales in their favor. Despite the team’s dominance, the second half brought its challenges, with standout performances from Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro crucial in maintaining United’s lead, albeit briefly.

Casemiro, despite his efforts, was part of a pivotal moment that saw Wolves claw back into the game through a penalty converted by Pablo Sarabia. However, Scott McTominay’s header seemed to have restored order for United, setting the stage for what appeared to be a comfortable finish before Wolves rallied back, setting the scene for Mainoo’s dramatic winner.

    Player Ratings:

    Andre Onana (5/10)

    Diogo Dalot (7/10)

    Raphael Varane (7/10)

    Lisandro Martinez (9/10)

    Luke Shaw (7/10)

Kobbie Mainoo (10/10) – Man of the Match

    Casemiro (5/10)

    Bruno Fernandes (6/10)

    Alejandro Garnacho (5/10)

    Rasmus Hojlund (9/10)

    Marcus Rashford (8/10)

    Substitutes

    Scott McTominay (7/10)

    Antony (4/10)

Omari Forson (N/A) Harry Maguire (N/A) Jonny Evans (N/A)

    Erik ten Hag (6/10):

The team delivered an exceptional performance in the first half and kicked off the second half with equal vigor, with Erik ten Hag selecting his strongest XI. The missed opportunities can’t be attributed to him; one could argue he managed a team that deserved a 5 or 6 to 3 victory over Wolves. However, his substitution decisions were poor, notably the ill-advised replacement of an out-of-form Antony for a menacing Marcus Rashford, to highlight one example. Such choices gave Wolves an opportunity to get back into the game. He’ll undoubtedly be profoundly thankful to Mainoo for rescuing the team.

  • Explained: Why Isak Hansen-Aaroen is being sold by Manchester United to Werder Bremen

Isak Hansen-Aarøen is on the verge of signing for Werder Bremen today. Werder Bremer are exchanging documents with United and a permanent move and medical are set in Bremen for later today, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old Norwegian, whose contract is in its last six months, had been engaged in negotiations for a new deal, but nothing materialised and he’s all set to leave United.

Manchester United holds a preference for retaining Hansen-Aarøen but recognises the practicality of selling him should he opt against a contract renewal, to capitalise on his current market value.

Now it has been revealed, by the United Stand, that the reason he is leaving is because it became increasingly more apparent that the 19-year-old wasn’t going to sign a new deal regardless of the terms offered. It’s reported the requests his representatives made were unrealistic and highly unlikely to be matched by another club.

Although, the player himself was reportedly keen on making it work at United, though his limited first-team opportunities have been a source of frustration, his terms made it impossible for United to agree a new contract with him.
