  • Real Betis chief reveals Antony transfer plan

Manchester United’s summer plans are already beginning to take shape under Ruben Amorim, with several key decisions looming around both incoming and outgoing players.

The Red Devils are focused on strengthening their midfield and attack, while offloading those who are not part of Amorim’s long-term vision.

Speculation continues to swirl around the futures of loanees and fringe players, especially those who have found success away from Old Trafford this season.

One name dominating headlines in Spain is a United winger who was once a marquee signing at Old Trafford, but whose time at the club became defined by inconsistency, criticism, and controversy.

After a frustrating run under both Erik ten Hag and his successor Amorim, the Brazilian winger is thriving in La Liga.

Antony, on loan at Real Betis, has found a new lease on life under Manuel Pellegrini, becoming a crucial figure for the Spanish side in both domestic and European competition.

Since joining the club, he’s scored four goals and provided two assists across 13 matches, quickly becoming a fan favourite and key starter.

Betis are currently sixth in the La Liga standings and into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Conference League, with Antony playing a major role in that rise.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo confirmed their intention to keep the 25-year-old beyond this season.

“It’s still early days, but we’ll try in different ways to do everything possible to continue enjoying Antony,” said Fajardo.

Pellegrini has also heaped praise on the player, highlighting his improved maturity and attitude since arriving in Seville.

“If they paid that much money for him, it is because he is a player of great level,” said the Betis boss.

“It is a revenge on himself to show that he is a much more mature player.”

Antony himself admitted earlier this year that he had rediscovered his smile in Spain, making subtle references to his lack of minutes at United.

With United unlikely to reintegrate him next season, a permanent move to Real Betis may be the best outcome for all parties.

  • Erik ten Hag finds new job in Serie A

Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Manchester United was a rollercoaster ride, filled with both triumphs and challenges.

The Dutch manager arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations, having built a formidable reputation at Ajax, where his tactical prowess led the club to domestic success and a memorable Champions League semi-final run.

However, his time at United was marred by inconsistencies, with the team struggling to find its rhythm in the highly competitive Premier League.

Erik ten Hag had moments of success, with him securing both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup trophies and making notable progress in European competition, but he also faced criticism for his handling of key players and tactical shortcomings, particularly in high-pressure situations.

Despite efforts to rebuild the squad, his tenure became increasingly tumultuous, especially as Manchester United’s results didn’t meet the lofty standards expected at such a high-profile club.

The team’s inability to challenge for the Premier League title consistently led to growing frustration from fans and pundits alike.

With his contract nearing its end, ten Hag’s future was the subject of increasing speculation, with many questioning whether his methods could truly elevate United back to its former glory.

Now, it seems the former Manchester United manager’s name has resurfaced in connection with another job.

Recently, Erik ten Hag was spotted in Rome, which has sparked speculation about a potential move to Roma.

Radio Mana Sport Roma captured images of the former Manchester United and Ajax coach entering a hotel in Rome.

While the visit has been dismissed as a personal trip by some sources, the timing raises eyebrows, particularly as Roma search for a new manager following Claudio Ranieri’s departure.

The Italian side, currently in a period of transition, could be looking for a figure capable of guiding them back to the upper echelons of Serie A, and ten Hag, with his European pedigree, might seem like a viable candidate.

Though it remains unclear whether Erik ten Hag is truly in talks with Roma, his presence in the Italian capital has certainly fueled rumors.

With his experience at top clubs and a proven ability to handle high-pressure situations, he could be seen as a strong candidate to take the reins at Roma, especially if they are aiming for a more structured, long-term project.

For now, it’s a case of wait and see, but one thing is for sure: the managerial merry-go-round in Europe is far from over.

  • Ruben Amorim provides injury updates ahead of Olympique Lyonnais clash

With tensions rising as Manchester United head into an important quarter-final clash, the pressure is building ahead of their encounter with Olympique Lyonnais.

Ruben Amorim has had to balance squad rotation with pressing commitments, and as crucial European matches loom, the Red Devils’ injury woes are adding further complications.

While many had their eyes fixed on the 196th derby this past weekend, it’s the aftermath of that encounter that has become the main talking point for United fans.

The recent Manchester derby ended in a frustrating stalemate that offered little in terms of excitement or clear-cut opportunities for either side.

Both teams, seemingly more concerned with securing Premier League points and looking towards other competitions, were hardly in the mood for a thrilling contest.

It was a performance that left fans wanting more, especially after the exhilarating 90th-minute win in December’s reverse fixture.

For Ruben Amorim, though, a point from both his meetings with Pep Guardiola this season, including his time at Sporting Lisbon, offers a small consolation.

However, United’s immediate focus has shifted away from the league to the Europa League.

With Thursday’s match against Olympique Lyonnais fast approaching, Amorim faces the challenge of navigating the fixture with a squad that is stretched thin.

Injuries to key players have disrupted his plans, and he’s been forced to carefully manage player fitness to avoid further setbacks.

In a concerning moment during the derby, Harry Maguire was replaced in the 58th minute, leading to worries about a potential new injury.

However, Amorim moved quickly to calm fears, explaining that the substitution was pre-planned to avoid any risk to Maguire, who had just returned from injury.

He emphasized that the priority was Thursday’s European clash, and the team needed to ensure that every player was fully fit for that crucial game.

    “Just managing him.

“After 60 minutes, 55 minutes is a risk and we cannot risk any player at this moment,” said Amorim.

He also provided an update on other injured players, confirming that Matthijs de Ligt was nursing an injury, and there were still doubts over his recovery timeline.

“Matta (Matthijs de Ligt), he has an injury.

“Let’s see how long it is going to take.

    “We’ll see.

“Mason Mount is ready to do whatever we want,” the Portuguese coach continued.

“Of course, we have to look at the minutes.

“Kobbie Mainoo is training with us.

“We want to be careful, again, with our players, but maybe he’s going to be in our squad.”

Despite the challenges, Amorim remained hopeful that the squad would be ready for the demanding weeks ahead.

With injuries mounting and key players unavailable, United’s squad depth will be tested as they push for success in Europe.

The upcoming fixtures are make-or-break, and Amorim’s tactical decisions will be crucial in determining whether the Reds can mount a serious challenge for silverware this season.

  • David de Gea to make shock Manchester United return

Manchester United have had a disastrous season, currently sat in 13th place after today’s goalless Manchester Derby took the club one point higher up the table.

Throughout the season, current first-choice goalkeeper, Andre Onana has made several questionable decisions which have resulted in goals being conceded.

The Cameroon international took over from David de Gea back in 2023 as United’s number-one keeper, with de Gea finding himself club-less as his contract came to an end.

A year later, de Gea signed for Italian club Fiorentina, with the former Spain international getting onto the pitch once again.

Now, Spanish publication Sport has reported that the former United man might be set for another stint at Old Trafford.

The report explains that United are now believed to “regret” their decision to choose Onana over de Gea who won the club’s Player of the Season four times in twelve years.

During his time at Old Trafford, recorded 190 clean sheets in 545 games, meaning he recorded no goals against him in a third of all his appearances.

With his time at Fiorentina set to come to an end in the summer, having only signed a one-year contract, United are reportedly hoping to bring their iconic shot-stopper back having lot confidence in Onana.

It’s unknown if David de Gea would instantly rank higher than Onana in the pecking order if he did return, however with his impressive run in Serie A, he could well demand the top spot.

  • Manchester United player ratings vs Manchester City

Well the final Manchester Derby of the season unfortunately was as eventful as both of the clubs’ seasons, with the 0-0 draw failing to bring any real excitement.

Unfortunately, the goalless games goes down as the first time that neither Manchester United nor Manchester City have scored in a match up since December 2020.

Manchester United looked to have the edge at the start of the game as Alejandro Garnacho was taken down by Ruben Dias, with Bruno Fernandes cannoning the freekick into the wall.

However, The Citizens then found a foothold, with Phil Foden taking on a shot which collided with the side netting. Thankfully for United, City’s next shot from Omar Marmoush was cut off, with Harry Maguire getting in the way.

With United on the attack again, Diogo Dalot fired in a cross for Alejandro Garnacho, however, the winger failed to connect properly, cutting back to Patrick Dorgu who sent it wide.

Once again United captain Bruno Fernandes was orchestrating the attacks, setting up Manuel Ugarte who put it wide, with Casemiro also having a shot on goal, saved by Manchester City goalkeeper, Ederson.

United’s break nearly came in the second half as Ederson parried away a shot from substitute Joshua Zirkzee into the path of Mason Mount, however his rebound shot was blocked by Rico Lewis, denying United the lead.

Considering some of the performances United have had this season, The Red Devils played well, however once again failed to convert in the final third, backing up their need for a striker in the summer.

    Andre Onana – 7.5

Having saved all five shots on target, Onana had a good day in the office in a relatively uneventful match.

    Patrick Dorgu – 7

Strong presence going forward but lacked composure in-front of goal.

    Leny Yoro – 6.5

Picked up a yellow card for a foul on Omar Marmoush, but had a strong showing in the back three.

    Harry Maguire – 7

Another key performance from the centre-back, making way for Victor Lindelof in the 58th minute.

    Noussair Mazraoui – 7.5

Was a nuisance for the City attack, especially Phil Foden, stopping clean shots on goal. Another impressive performance in his debut season at Old Trafford.

    Diogo Dalot – 7

Once more showed why he’s routinely relied upon at United with some dangerous crosses into the box.

    Manuel Ugarte – 6.5

Involved in play back and forth, had the chance to convert but couldn’t find the composure in front of goal.

    Casemiro – 7.5

Absolutely solid in the middle of the pitch with the joint most tackles made by a United player in a Premier League game ever (11).

    Bruno Fernandes – 8

Led by example once again having key involvements in all of United’s attacking play, easily the best player on the pitch.

    Alejandro Garnacho – 7

Made his presence known by drawing fouls and getting in the right places, but failed to provide a clinical head in front of goal.

    Rasmus Hojlund – 6.5

Unfortunately another quite game for Hojlund, reminiscent of his 21 game goalless streak, hopefully it won’t be as long till we ee another goal from him.

    Victor Lindelof – 6.5

Lindelof joined the match in the 58th minute, coming on for Harry Maguire, matching his strength in the back three.

    Mason Mount – 7

Mount came on for Ugarte in the 71st minute, going on to pick up a yellow card only four minutes later. Brought in some energy in attack and was unlucky to have his shot blocked, denying United the lead.

    Joshua Zirkzee – 7

Zirkzee entered the game alongside Mount in the 71st minute, replacing Hojlund. Came onto the pitch string igniting some excitement in attack but failed to find the back of the net.

  • Manchester United make official offer for Victor Osimhen

Manchester United have reportedly made their first official offer for striker Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian is currently on loan at Turkish club Galatasaray, where he has scored 28 goals.

His parent club, Napoli, are reportedly ready to part ways with the 26-year-old this summer, with several interested clubs circling.

Osimhen found his breakthrough in France with Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille, earning a transfer to Italian giants Napoli in 2020.

There, he went from strength to strength, and in the 2022/23 season, he won the Serie A Golden Boot by scoring 26 goals in a season in which Napoli clinched the title.

His following season was harmed by injuries, and despite still scoring 15 goals, Napoli made their intention to part ways with Osimhen clear.

No club would meet their asking price, though, and negotiations led to Osimhen signing on loan to Galatasaray.

The striker has enjoyed a productive season in Turkey, leading Galatasaray to a likely title and particularly starring in the Europa League, before Galatasaray’s exit at the hands of AZ Alkmaar.

Osimhen will now look to finally part from Napoli in the summer, and Manchester United are reportedly the latest club to make an offer for the striker’s services.

According to Turkish source Arda Ozkurt, Manchester United, as well as Arsenal, have made official offers for the forward, while Barcelona, Liverpool and PSG are closely monitoring the situation.

Should the Red Devils make the signing happen, Osimhen would add reliable goal-scoring to Ruben Amorim’s front-line, in a season in which Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have flattered to deceive.

  • 14-year-old Manchester United wonderkid makes debut

Manchester United’s academy has been a source of stars for the first team for many years.

Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, and Marcus Rashford are just some of the stand-outs to rise through the ranks at Old Trafford.

And the academy continues to provide first team players to this day, with Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho making an impact on the big stage in recent years.

There could be further to come as well, if the form of the academy teams is anything to go by.

Victor Musa, for example, has stood out at the youth level this season. The Spaniard scored six goals against Leeds United today for the U18s.

But another talent looks to have stolen the headlines from the match.

14-year-old JJ Gabriel made his debut for the U18s, coming on as a substitute and immediately making his presence known by scoring a brace.

His second goal was particularly impressive.

Receiving a lofted ball on the edge of the box, the teenager touched it down effortlessly, before rolling it past the oncoming defender.

With the goal in sight, Gabriel wrapped his foot around the ball and powered it towards the far corner and out of the goalkeeper’s reach.

He made headlines in March by penning a lucrative deal with Nike, and excitement is building about the youngster’s massive potential.

At just 14, Gabriel has a long way to go before he can be considered for Ruben Amorim’s first team, but should he continue to perform as he is, he could certainly have a part to play in future United squads.
