  • Biden campaign raises $42 million in January

The Biden campaign brought in more than $42 million in the month of January, giving itself roughly $130 million in cash on hand with roughly nine months to go until Election Day.

Campaign officials touted the fundraising efforts as a testament to President Biden’s grassroots support, saying January was the third consecutive month in which the campaign set a new record for its grassroots program.

“While Team Biden-Harris continues to build on its fundraising machine, Republicans are divided – either spending money fighting Donald Trump, or spending money in support of Donald Trump’s extreme and losing agenda,” campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement. “Either way, judging from their weak fundraising, they’re already paying the political price. In an election that will determine the fate of our democracy and our freedoms, President Biden’s campaign is using its resources to build a winning operation that will meet voters where they are about the stakes of this election.”

The total haul represents fundraising across the Biden campaign, Democratic National Committee (DNC) and joint fundraising committees between the two.

The Biden campaign received a boost in part as the Republican primary kicked into gear. Officials said they raised $1 million each day in the three days after the Iowa caucus, which former President Trump won in a landslide.

The campaign said it had raised nearly $278 million total since Biden officially launched his reelection bid last April. The operation’s $130 million cash on hand is the most ever for a Democratic candidate, the campaign said.

Its cash on hand far outpaces the Trump campaign, which reported raising $19 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, with $33 million in cash on hand at the end of the year.

Trump is on track to become the GOP nominee after winning the first three primary contests and leading in the polls in those still to come. But he has still had to focus his time and resources on defeating his lone remaining rival, Nikki Haley.

Additionally, Trump is facing a mountain of legal fees that will continue to grow as he deals with 91 felony charges across four separate investigations.

A New York judge last week ordered the former president to pay a nearly $355 million penalty, plus interest, after finding he falsely altered his net worth on key financial statements to receive tax and insurance benefits.

Trump also owes writer E. Jean Carroll more than $83 million after a New York City jury last month found he defamed her in 2019, when he denied the longtime advice columnist’s accusation that he sexually assaulted her decades earlier.

  • Pfizer Never Stops Gaslighting Us

Pfizer’s cheery Super Bowl ad cannot change the fact that they never tested their BNT162b2 vaccine during clinical trials to see if it prevented transmission of Covid-19.

Did you see Pfizer’s toe-tapping commercial during the Super Bowl this year? It’s a glossy, feel-good, women-empowering montage set to Queen’s song “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

Talking statues and portraits of science-greats such as Galileo, Newton, and Einstein are mixed in with Pfizer’s founders Charles Erhart and Charles Pfizer, along with women scientists, professors, and doctors.

Visuals and colors explode as the words, “Here’s to science. Here’s to the next fight. LetsOutdoCancer.com” appear. At the end, we see a darling little girl, presumably cured of cancer, leaving the hospital to applause from her attending medical personnel, with the words “Pfizer, Outdo Yesterday” superimposed on the lower right of the screen.

It’s a lovely $14 million 60 or 90 second spot, depending on which cut you watch. And it’s all gaslighting.

Pfizer is Dr. Chillingworth. For those unfamiliar, Dr. Chillingworth is a cold, deformed, bitter man exacting revenge on the kind, revered, but hypocritical Reverend Dimmesdale in a 17th Century Puritan Massachusetts Bay Colony. In the novel The Scarlet Letter, Chillingworth feigns to be a healer, and eventually moves in with Rev. Dimmesdale pretending to better treat his heart condition, while subtly tormenting him and contributing to Dimmesdale’s failing health and eventual death.

    • URGENT! Keep Alex Jones in the fight against the NWO! Please pray & contribute at DefendJones.com today!

Of course Pfizer isn’t a shunned husband trying to determine the source of his wife’s infidelity and subsequent illegitimate child. And maybe the owners of Pfizer aren’t visibly cold, deformed, and bitter. I couldn’t say, not having personally met any of them. But Pfizer is without a doubt, a Dr. Chillingworth in all our lives – pretending to help us while contributing to our failing health. Perhaps you knew this before the Covid-19 pandemic, but I suspect most of us did not.

Pfizer’s cheery Super Bowl ad cannot change the fact that they never tested their BNT162b2 vaccine during clinical trials to see if it prevented transmission of Covid-19. Nor did Pfizer stop distribution when 90 days into the vaccination campaign, there had already been 1,123 vaccine-related deaths, and over 40,000 vaccine injuries.

Dr. Peter McCullough, one of the most published cardiologists in the world, was shocked when Pfizer did not withdraw its Covid vaccine in February 2021. Having served on multiple vaccine safety review boards for the FDA in the past, Dr. McCullough knew that even a possible causal relationship between the vaccines and injury reports was concern enough for the shots to be pulled. For example, in 1976 during a swine flu scare, a mass vaccine rollout was abruptly canceled after more than 500 vaccinated people contracted Guillain-Barré syndrome, and more than 30 died.

However, the alarming results from the 90-day safety review of Pfizer’s Covid vaccine were disregarded by both Pfizer and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Also ignored were knowledgeable doctors and scientists who contacted the European Medical Association in February 2021, calling for the vaccines to be withdrawn for further evaluation, due to “a wide range of side effects…reported following vaccination of previously healthy younger individuals.”

Pictured in Pfizer’s peppy commercial are Katalin Karikó, PhD, and Drew Weissman, MD, PhD, who were just awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology for their work on the mRNA platform that was used in the Pfizer and Moderna shots.

Rickard Sandberg, of the Nobel Assembly said that Karikó and Weissman’s research was added to others’ work on stabilized spike protein and mRNA delivery using lipid nanoparticles, which led to “two highly effective mRNA vaccines against Covid-19” being developed and approved “in record time.”

Record time indeed, but “highly effective?” Not so much. When all the safety precautions are removed from product development, billions of dollars are involved, and the warning signs of adverse events are ignored, you get Operation Warp Speed.

Most people were unaware that when they were jabbed with the Covid-19 shots, they were participating in a worldwide clinical trial, taking into their bodies an improperly tested, experimental product. The Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and AstraZeneca vaccines are all gene therapy products, not traditional vaccines. In 2018, the FDA defined gene therapy as “a technique that modifies a person’s genes to treat or cure disease.”

Pfizer and Moderna shots send a message to cells via modified mRNA to create the toxic spike protein found in the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes Covid-19 disease. J&J and AstraZeneca DNA shots send a gene to the cells with instructions to create the spike protein. The theory was that the cells would create the spike in response to the message sent by the Covid gene therapy. The body would then recognize the enemy substance, develop an immune response, and be protected upon actually encountering the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the future.

But Pfizer’s claims that the shots were 95% effective at preventing infection were deceptive, and Pfizer never even tested their shot to see if it preventedCovid-19 transmission. Yet the claim that we were protecting ourselves and others by taking the Covid vaccines has continually been wielded as justification for coercing and mandating people into getting injected. In fact, not only do the shots not prevent disease transmission or infection, but they make recipients more susceptible to Covid-19 infection, and less able to fight the disease.

Time has proven that the Covid-19 shots are not effective, and they’re certainly not safe, a claim which never should have been made, as no long-term clinical trials were conducted before the shots were administered worldwide. Pfizer and the other pharmaceutical companies had not overcome the known problems with gene therapies, one of which was lack of control over where the injected gene therapy travels in the body.

The uncontrolled spread of messenger RNA leads to the creation of toxic spike protein in the brain, other organs, and the circulatory system – places where spike protein would not be during the normal course of the disease – leading to all types of cardial and neurological issues. The lipid nanoparticle envelope that carries the mRNA to the cells is also known to be problematic, causing inflammation in the body.

Karikó and Weissman both knew this about mRNA vaccines. Dr. Weissman co-authored a paper in 2018, “MRNA vaccines – a new era in vaccinology,” in which both advances in, and safety concerns about mRNA vaccines were outlined. The safety concerns included possible blood clots, systemic inflammation, lack of control over where the vaccine goes in the body and how long it stays there, autoimmune diseases, and the potential toxicity of lipid nanoparticles.

The FDA was also aware of the uncertainty of safety in gene therapy products. An FDA article from 2006 states:

Study subjects exposed to gene transfer technology may be at risk of delayed adverse events as a consequence of persistent biological activity of the genetic material or other components of the products used to carry the genetic material. The persistent biological activity may be necessary for the product to provide a continuing clinical benefit. However, persistent biological activity could have adverse effects upon normal cell function, placing subjects at risk for development of adverse events, some of which may be delayed by months or years. (emphasis added)

The Covid vaccines were only Emergency Use Authorized (EUA) by the FDA, and still have not been granted full approval. The EUA status conferred on the Covid-19 vaccines means the pharmaceutical companies are not liable for injuries resulting from the injections – and there are many. We are seeing “delayed adverse events” and “adverse effects upon normal cell function” all around us. “Persistent biological activity” is manifested by the fact that vaccine-induced spike protein is still circulating in some people up to six months after injection.

We were told that the Covid shots would stay in the arm muscle , and that the body would discard the mRNA message within a few hours of delivery. Pfizer and the FDA were not forthcoming about the pros and cons of the Covid shots. Without this knowledge, the public could not give informed consent.

Pfizer’s track record in the drug-making industry is anything but squeaky clean. In 2009,the United States Department of Justice ordered it to pay $2.3 billion in civil and criminal penalties, due to adverse events resulting from Pfizer’s false claims regarding some of its products. In 2004 it was ordered to pay $430 million in civil and criminal penalties for violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA). An article at the time noted it was “Not a major setback for Pfizer,” due to the billions it was bringing in from the product in question.

These huge civil and criminal penalties seem akin to gnats biting an elephant – an annoyance, but not a hindrance to day-to-day business. The FDA is as responsible as Pfizer for the Covid shots, granting EUA despite the known dangers of experimental gene therapy technology.

Major life insurance companies report that starting in the fall of 2021 (when Covid vaccine mandates were implemented in the US), excess mortality increased over 40% in people ages 18-64. The large increase had never been seen before in the history of life insurance. Long-term disability claims have also increased unexpectedly in the younger age groups.

All around us many of our family, friends, and neighbors have been injured by Pfizer and the other drug companies’ Covid-19 gene therapy injections (see here, and here). Three years from the beginning of the massive Covid vaccination campaign, we have all become aware of the sudden “cause unknown” medical events affecting athletes, young people, and the previously healthy middle-aged. Blood clots, pulmonary embolisms, aneurysms, heart attacks, strokes, myocarditis, Bell’s palsy, Guillain-Barré syndrome, autoimmune diseases, and a host of other cardiac and neurological illnesses are afflicting people of all ages.

Because the problems are developing months and years after injection, most people are not making the connection between the Covid shots and the illnesses and deaths of loved ones, and their own illnesses. Maybe this failure to connect the dots has to do with the mantra that is repeated daily to this day, “safe and effective,” and maybe it’s partly the trauma of realizing that we have been deceived, manipulated, and violated by those whom we trusted in positions of authority.

But the FDA knows. Pfizer knows. So do Moderna, and J&J, and AstraZeneca. So do the CDC, various government and public health leaders, and the complicit mainstream media. As do many medical and scientific organizations, and their prestigious journals. Collective guilt is a difficult emotion to face, and perhaps an even harder fact to expose.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) expects new cancer cases in the US to rise beyond 2 million in 2024, a one-year milestone, with data showing an increase in younger people being diagnosed with cancer. The ACS attributes the rise in cancer to many factors including obesity, failure to get early screening, family history, race, situations unique to the LGBTQ population, and economic disparities. Sadly lacking is any introspection regarding the possible impact of new, inadequately tested gene therapy products injected into the world’s population starting in 2021. However, there are cancer doctors who trace the rise directly to the Covid-19 shots.

Oncologist Dr. Angus Dalgleish has seen a marked increase in recurring cancers in his UK practice, temporally related to the Covid vaccine rollout. Dr. Ryan Cole, who owns a large pathology lab, began to see an unusual increase in breast cancer and recurring cancers in 2021. Oncologist Dr. William Makis, who has diagnosed 20,000 cancer patients in his career, says he has never seen anything before like the sudden development of aggressive and rapidly-growing cancers in young people. In his practice, Makis is seeing stage 4 breast cancers presenting in women in their 20s, stage 4 colon cancers presenting in men and women in their 20s and 30s, leukemias that kill in a matter of days or even hours after diagnosis, and lymphomas that kill in a matter of months.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could find a cancer cure?

Yes it would, but at this point in time we would do much better listening to our own bodies and returning to healthy practices, instead of looking to multi-billion dollar corrupt pharmaceutical companies and government bureaucracies to solve our medical problems. The Reverend Dimmesdale allowed Dr. Chillingworth into his home to better “cure” him. We don’t need to let Pfizer into our lives, or our bodies, anymore.

As for my part, I’m not going to dance and sing along with Pfizer. Contrary to Pfizer’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” message, I hope we can stop Pfizer and its “Outdo Yesterday” slogan. Because now I recognize gaslighting, and yesterday was bad enough.

  • ‘Talk Is Cheap’— Nigerians React To Ben Bruce’s Advice On Lifting Naira From N1,730/$

    Ben-Murray-Bruce-Founder-of-Silverbird Group

Former Nigerian Senator and the founder of Silverbird Group, Ben Murray-Bruce, has been criticised after advising the government to focus on harnessing the potential of agriculture if they want the naira to rebound.

After the close of trade on Monday, the businessman shared a video of X suggesting to the government what they should do to save the naira and ensure food security.

He said, “Nigeria has the potential to cause a revolution in its agricultural sector within a two-year timeframe. I confidently say that by strategically harnessing our resources and implementing pragmatic initiatives, we can significantly boost agricultural production, strengthen the naira, enhance food security, and emerge as a global food exporter in the global market.

“Nigeria’s first step towards agriculture will have to be a substantial investment in infrastructure which includes improving irrigation systems, enhancing transportation networks and upgrading storage facilities to prevent post-harvest losses.”

Bruce canvased for farmers to have easy access to loans and farm inputs.

Almost every day, the naira loses to the US dollar following scarcity. On Monday, the dollar hit a new low of N1,730 at the black market controlled by the Bureau de Change operators.

At the official market, the currency closed at N1,574.6 per dollar, which is the lowest by the standards of the country’s history.

The President Bola Tinubu administration which was once praised for its bold steps in scraping payment of subsidy on petrol in May 2023 is gradually becoming unpopular by the day due to spiking prices which have hit 29.9 per cent.

The depreciation of local currency is another major source of concern to Nigerians because the country is import-dependent.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is playing the blame game accusing Bureau de Change dealers of speculative activities. The official market dealers were also accused of hoarding foreign exchange that they did not need.

Bruce advised the government to focus on agriculture, adding it “will not only strengthen the naira and boost food security but also position Nigerian as a leading player in the global food market.”

But a verified X user, Tammy Solomon, questions the Silverbird Chairman’s advice on strengthening the naira.

Solomon said, “How many farms do you own? Which of your children attended schools in Nigeria? Do you even own a Nigerian-made vehicle? What about the clothes and shoes you wear? Are they mostly Nigerian-made?”

Another critic, Femo Gq, said, “Talk is cheap. Are you not in the same class of people who patronise foreign goods and foreign ideas.”

Ashipa James added, “Let us not put the cart before the horse. Fertile land is available, but SAFE land is a mirage because of insecurity. Why go to the farm to get killed or raped?”

  • San Jose Sharks shut out by Logan Thompson, Vegas Golden Knights

SAN JOSE – The San Jose Sharks fell behind by three goals after the first period and were unable to mount anything in response Monday in a 4-0 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights at SAP Center.

The Sharks gave up even-strength goals to Michael Amadio and William Karlsson in the opening 4:25 of the first period as the Golden Knights took a 2-0 lead.

Then forward Mason Morelli, making his NHL debut, scored a power-play goal with just 49 seconds left before intermission, tipping a pass from Alex Pietrangelo past Sharks goalie Mackenzie Blackwood on a Golden Knights power play.

The 28-year-old Morelli, who went undrafted and played for four years at Nebraska-Omaha before he turned pro in 2015, then assisted on Keegan Kolesar’s second-period goal, as Vegas took a 4-0 lead.

Morelli became the 124th player to score their first NHL goal against the Sharks, who entered the league in 1991. Two other Golden Knights players also have that distinction: Cody Glass on Oct. 2, 2019, and Brayden Pachal at the start of this season on Oct. 12.

“It’s a pretty special moment,” Morelli told reporters. “It’s kind of hard to put into words. It’s a really good group of guys that were very welcoming and they made it easy on me and they made some really good plays.”

Blackwood made 22 saves as the Sharks were shut out for ta league-high ninth time this season, including the second time in four games as they dropped to 1-3-0 without injured centers Tomas Hertl and Logan Couture.

Goalie Logan Thompson made 29 saves for his first shutout of the season and the fourth of his NHL career, as Vegas swept the four-game season series.

“I know it was a 4-0 loss, but I thought we were working really hard,” Sharks forward Kevin Labanc said. “We just didn’t get the right bounces, and that was a good goalie we were shooting on this afternoon.

“You just put your head down and stick with it and don’t let this loss rub you the wrong way, because I think you can take a lot of good from this game as well.”

The Sharks and the Golden Knights used to have one of the fiercest rivalries in the NHL, following heated and memorable playoff meetings in 2017 and 2018.

But since the start of the 2019-2020 season, San Jose is now just 4-16-3 against Vegas, which captured its first Stanley Cup last year in their sixth season of existence. In the last five seasons, Vegas has 10 of 11 meetings with the Sharks in San Jose.

The Sharks’ five-game homestand continues with games against the Nashville Predators on Saturday, Timo Meier and the New Jersey Devils on Feb. 27, and the Anaheim Ducks on Feb. 29.

  • Lenny Kravitz Gives Inspiring Speech As He Accepts People’s Choice Music Icon Award

    By Marianne Garvey, CNN

(CNN) — The seemingly ageless Lenny Kravitz has always gone his own way.

Kravitz accepted the Music Icon Award at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards on Sunday, marking the honor with a performance of his hits and an emotional speech.

“When I was thinking about what to say tonight, I kept going back to that word icon,” he said. “It means a lot of things to a lot of people, but to me, it means you’ve made an indelible mark by being who God created you to be and daring to be different. When I was first coming up, a lot of people offered me a lot of deals. But they wanted me to change.”

He continued: “My music wasn’t Black enough. It wasn’t white enough. It didn’t fit nicely inside a box or sound like what was on the radio at the time, and I turned down the money and the glitzy promises of fame, and stardom because I couldn’t live with myself doing something inauthentic.”

Kravitz reflected on his 35 years as a recording artist.

“It’s never been about how many records I sell, or how many awards I win,” he said. “It’s not about trying to write hits or being calculated or formulaic. It’s about enjoying and being grateful for the journey and using the gifts that God gave you. Never follow the trends. Set your own pace and recognize that the best is right here, right now, in front of you.”

Kravitz also thanked his parents Sy Kravitz and Roxie Roker for “taking me to all those amazing concerts when I was a kid instead of leaving me home with the babysitter.”

“Blue Electric Light,” his upcoming 12th studio album, is set for release in May. Kravitz will follow that with a European tour this summer.

  • Pelosi: Trump comments on Navalny’s death ‘beneath the dignity of a human being’

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) went after former President Trump on Monday for his response to the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, calling Trump’s comments “’beneath the dignity of a human being.”

Navalny died Friday in a Russian penal colony, the country’s government announced, in what has been widely denounced as a likely political assassination. Trump first addressed the death on Monday after being called out by Democrats for ignoring the issue.

Trump compared Navalny’s death to his own legal circumstances, and did not blame it on Russian President Vladimir Putin, as President Biden and U.S. allies have.

“You wonder, what does Putin have on Donald Trump that he always has to be beholden to him, his buddy in vileness?” Pelosi said in an MSNBC “Inside with Jen Psaki” interview on Monday.

She said Trump’s statement was “beneath the dignity of a human being.”

“It is so horrible you think, ‘No, somebody must have made this up. Not even Donald Trump could go this far,’” she said. “This statement should disqualify him from running for anything, much less President of the United States.”

President Biden first commented on Navalny’s death after the news broke Friday, quickly pinning it on Putin and using the opportunity to call for military aid for Ukraine.

“Make no mistake: Putin is responsible for Navalny’s death. Putin is responsible,” Biden said. “What has happened to Navalny is yet more proof of Putin’s brutality. No one should be fooled.”

“We have to provide the funding so Ukraine can keep defending itself against Putin’s vicious onslaughts and war crimes,” he continued, adding that he is “contemplating” whether further sanctions on Russia are possible.

Ukraine aid is stuck in the House, after a bipartisan coalition of Senators passed a foreign spending bill earlier this month. House Republican leaders said there is no chance the body passed Ukraine aid without action on the Southern border, after the House killed a bipartisan border security bill.

“History is watching the House of Representatives,” Biden said Friday. “The failure to support Ukraine at this critical moment will never be forgotten.”

Pelosi also went after the House GOP leadership for delaying Ukraine aid, calling it a “disgrace” that the U.S. is yet to fund additional support against Russian invasion.

“We will get this done in the house,” she said. “It’s a disgrace that we haven’t done it yet. People will die every day that we are not supplying the weapons with the distance, with the speed, with the strength that is needed to defeat the Russians.”

“And people there know that if anything were to happen in Ukraine — which we must make sure it doesn’t in terms of Russia winning — that other countries are next,” she added.

  • Pathetic: HBO’s John Oliver Tries to Bribe Justice Clarence Thomas to ‘Get the Fu** Off’ Supreme Court

HBO fears Trump will return to office if SCOTUS rules in his favor.

HBO host John Oliver offered Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas a million dollars a year and a luxury RV to resign from the US’ highest court, in the latest sign unhinged liberals are growing increasingly desperate to keep Donald Trump from again assuming power.

In the establishment-backed host’s latest attempt at comedy, Oliver blames Justice Thomas for attacking “women’s rights” to murder babies in the womb, and claims he pals around with white supremacists who have shrines to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

“You deserve a break, you know, away from the meanness of Washington so you can be surrounded by the regular folks whose lives you’ve made demonstrably worse for decades now,” Oliver says, adding, “and the good news is I think we can help you there because since your favorite mode of travel might be in need of an upgrade, we are excited to offer you this brand new top of the line Prevost Marathon motor coach.”

Oliver goes on to describe the RV’s amenities, saying it contains a full bedroom with a king-sized bed, one and a half bathrooms, a fireplace, four TVs, a washer dryer and a residential-sized fridge.

    • Introducing Next Level Foundational Energy from Dr. Jones Naturals starting at 30% off! This cutting-edge dietary supplement is designed to elevate your energy levels and support your overall well-being.

“And if you thinking what my friends say if I take this will they judge me, as they sit in their boardrooms and mega-yachts and Hitler shrines?

“Well, that’s the beauty, real friends they’ll love you no matter what your job is, so I guess this might be the perfect way to find out who your real friends actually are.”

“So that’s the offer: a million dollars a year, Clarence, and a brand new condo on wheels. And all you have to do in return is sign the contract and get the fuck off the Supreme Court. Starts now. 30 days. Let’s do this.”

Oliver’s corrupt offer comes as two of the former president’s court cases this week are set to go before the Supreme Court, where Justice Thomas lends to a 6-3 conservative majority over liberal-leaning justices.

The SCOTUS will as soon as this week issue decisions on Trump’s immunity claim in his federal case overseen by prosecutor Jack Smith, and his ballot eligibility case in Colorado, where the state’s Supreme Court has agreed to remove Trump from the Republican primary ballot over supposedly engaging in insurrection.

Oliver’s offer is also a jab at Thomas, whose been the focus of a media hit-job smear campaign over the past few years for befriending one of his wealthy donors.

Oliver’s latest move shows crazed liberals, acutely aware the Supreme Court won’t stop Trump, are trying everything they can to prevent another Trump presidency.

  • Otti To Establish Tuition-Free Skills Development Schools In Abia

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has announced his administration’s commitment to establish tuition-free schools across the three senatorial zones, focusing on imparting skills currently lacking in the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu who disclosed this after the state executive council meeting in Umuahia on Monday revealed that the one-year residential program will cover solar power assembly, POP designing, painting, masonry, tiling, and more.

He further stated that graduates of the program will receive financial empowerment to start their businesses, aligning with the government’s emphasis on self-sufficiency.

Kanu also announced the suspension of the monthly sanitation exercise due to the commissioning of a geometric power plant on Saturday, February 24, expecting an influx of visitors.

He urged residents to clean their immediate surroundings on that day.

Furthermore, the information boss also disclosed that the government has banned “One way traffic” across the state, warning that driving against traffic would now be considered a serious offense, aligning with efforts to enhance road safety and discourage reckless driving practices.

“A special task force would be established to enforce traffic regulations and crackdown on traffic violations in the state

“This is in keeping with the culture of doing things right as being preached by this government.

“We don’t like people who engage in unwholesome acts, people who revel in impunity and drive against traffic causing accidents and all kinds of confusion on the roads.

“Going forward, driving against traffic will be a very serious offence in the state, and like I informed you not too long ago, some special taskforce is being set up.

“It’s a one-stop task force that will handle every form of enforcement in the state.

“So in the days and weeks ahead, those of us who are in the habit of driving against traffic should be prepared to face the full wrath of the law,” the Commissioner noted.

  • Oakland A’s report for spring training as Kemp’s veteran absence looms

MESA, Ariz. – On Monday, players from within the Oakland Athletics organization hit in the batting cages, stretched together and went through fielding drills — all signaling the first day of full-team spring training.

All 68 players invited to camp showed up ready to prove themselves. Despite a disappointing 2023 season, which saw the team finish in fifth place in the AL West with a 50-122 record, morale was high at camp on Monday.

“It’s a new year, a fresh start,” said manager Mark Kotsay. “Preparation for the season starts today.”

The core of the team features a group of players that was mainly assembled last spring and Kotsay mentioned that having a little less competition for spots, with more players coming in with big-league experience, is likely to differentiate this spring from last.

The major leaguers will have more of a chance to focus on coming together and progressing toward Opening Day, March 28.

New additions to the team include Miguel Andujar and Abraham Toro, who should provide some depth and experience in the infield. Yet, when looking around the locker room someone was noticeably missing.

    That someone is Tony Kemp.

Kemp, a strong veteran voice in the clubhouse, spent the last four seasons with the A’s and is now a free agent, still looking to land a deal. Other longtime A’s players like Seth Brown and Paul Blackburn are most likely to step up and fill in the leadership gap left by Kemp.

“I think everyone here misses TK,” catcher Shea Langeliers said. “He was just one of those guys that was there for you whether it was baseball or just life in general.”

Langeliers did say Brown also filled a similar role last year and that he is comfortable going to Brown for advice. Kotsay agreed, saying Brown and Blackburn are crucial pieces when it comes to understanding where the team comes from, and lifting locker-room morale when the going gets tough.

Certainly, difficult stretches are likely to hit amid the A’s teardown as they are projected by Baseball Prospectus’ PECOTA engine to improve to 64-98 this season.

Another slightly under-the-radar player who could become a locker-room leader is 2023 All-Star Brent Rooker. Kotsay said he has used Rooker as an exemplary player in the team’s meetings and has stressed to younger players that they too could have the chance to break out and get time with the major league club.

Two new faces on the pitching staff have already been cited as potential veteran voices on the team: former Giants Alex Wood and Ross Stripling. Wood signed a one-year, $8.5 million deal while Stripling arrived via trade for minor-league outfielder Jonah Cox.

  • 5 Organizations Empowering Black Girls As Leaders

From business to STEM, these programs are training Black girls to not just enter professions, but to lead them. (Photo by Christina Morillo)

    by Aziah Siid

Black women who are a force to be reckoned with aren’t just in films like “Hidden Figures” or “Black Panther.” They’re the real-life brains behind NASA’s Mars Curiosity Rover, and the creative intellects crafting the architectural wonders of the modern world. But there’s no denying the road to such massive success is tough for Black women, who deal with constant racism and sexism throughout their K-12 school years.

As Word In Black has previously reported, Black girls experience damaging “adultification.” In addition, plenty of research has shown that Black girls are often erased in school and disciplined more harshly than their white peers for the same infractions. Instead of being seen as leaders, Black girls are often viewed as having an attitude and being disruptive.

That’s why programs that nurture and empower the next generation of Black girls to rise up as leaders in society matter. Indeed, from entrepreneurship to STEM, there’s a movement nationwide of organizations carving out space for the next generation of Black women to not just enter professions, but to lead them. They work to equip Black girls with the leadership skills and self-confidence they need to break barriers and take their rightful place in society. Here are five organizations whose efforts to uplift and empower are a blueprint for creating a future where Black girls not only dream of reaching for the stars, but also lead the way there.

    1. 400 Forward

In 2020, Detroit’s own Tiffany Brown had a vision sharper than the skyline of her hometown: she was going to carve a direct path for Black girls into the world of architecture. Naming her initiative 400 Forward, she spotlighted a stark reality — as of 2017, there were only 400 licensed Black female architects. With a $50,000 matching grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in her toolkit, Brown set out to change the blueprint.

400 Forward is more than a program; it’s a launchpad providing mentorship, professional exposure, and a treasure trove of resources for young, aspiring female architects of color. From the whir of woodworking classes to the creativity of a free art and architecture summer camp, girls in the program are getting a holistic education that’s about building dreams as much as it’s about building structures.

    2. National Coalition of 100 Black Women

On a chilly day back in 1970, Edna Beach and 23 other trailblazing Black women gathered, fueled by a resolve to address the racial inequities the Black community, and Black women in particular, had been navigating throughout the ’60s. That historic gathering birthed the National Coalition of Black Women.

Now, with a robust network of 63 chapters across 25 states, the NCBW stands as a beacon of support, guiding youth toward their educational North Stars. They’re not just about hitting the books; they’re invested in crafting experiences that uplift, foster self-love, and champion excellence from the classroom to life’s every arena.

Their work includes ending educational inequities, boosting outcomes, hiking graduation rates, and paving clear paths to vocational and college readiness, with a laser focus on S.T.E.A.M fields, HBCU enrollment, and making sure education doesn’t just seem accessible — it is accessible.

On a winter day in 1970, 24 visionary Black women led by Edna Beach met to discuss the turbulent conditions that were plaguing the Black community — specifically Black women — all throughout the 1960s. By the end of the meeting, the National Coalition of Black Women had been formed.

With 63 chapters in 25 states, NCBW delivers support services that help youth achieve their educational goals. In supporting positive experiences and fostering a positive self-perception and self-respect, they encourage excellence at all levels of education.

Their programs focus on eliminating disparities, improving outcomes, increasing graduation rates, focusing on vocational/ college preparation, S.T.E.A.M, enrollment into HBCUs, and affordability access.

    3. Black Girls Leadership Academy

In 2020, a powerhouse group of Black women leaders from diverse professional arenas across the U.S. united with a singular, powerful vision: to uplift and empower young Black girls and women. And so, Black Girls Leadership Academy was born.

Amid the upheaval of COVID-19, the group zeroed in on the unique challenges faced by young Black girls — navigating the rough waters of educational disparities, mental and emotional turmoil, and economic uncertainties unleashed by the pandemic’s new normal.

    4. Girls for Change

Launched into action in 2000, Girls for Change hit the ground with a mission: elevate young women by diving into social change projects that mirror the very challenges they confront daily in their own communities.

Snagging nonprofit status by 2004, they’ve been on a roll, unleashing initiatives left and right. Among them, the Girl Ambassador Program (GAP) stands out, carving out pathways for Black girls to blaze trails in “economic opportunity, technology, and entrepreneurship.”

    5. Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN)

WEEN, short for Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network, is where powerhouse women are shaping the future queens of color in entertainment, business, and tech. This organization isn’t just talking the talk; they’re leading the charge to mold young women of color into the leaders and innovators our world needs.

With a global impact touching over 80,000 young women through dynamic outreach, engaging programming, and their hallmark summer intensive, WEEN is on a mission to change girls’ lives. Since launching the WEEN Academy, in 2011, they’ve opened doors for students to learn from and rub elbows with the entertainment industry’s most accomplished execs and celebs.
