  • Israel Opens Fire On Crowd Of 1,000 Gazans Waiting For Food, Killing Over 100 – CNN Calls Massacre A ‘Chaotic Incident’

IDF claims troops were in danger as crowd rushed towards supplies

Mainstream media and the Israeli military were lambasted online Thursday after Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers shot into a huge crowd of Palestinians and CNN downplayed the massacre as a “chaotic incident.”

A CNN headline reads, “At least 100 killed and 700 injured in chaotic incident where IDF opened fire as people waited for food in Gaza, Palestinian officials say.”

The current toll being reported by the press is 104 deaths and 760 injuries.

The numbers came from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza and have yet to be verified.

However, an Israeli official did confirm to CNN that IDF troops fired live rounds on people surrounding an aid truck, claiming “the crowd approached the forces in a manner that posed a threat to the troops, who responded to the threat with live fire.”

The death count is expected to rise as the street where the attack took place is said to be littered with bodies emergency crews cannot get to due to rubble blocking the way.

The footage below claims to show the moment IDF opened fire on the civilians, according to Al Jazeera Arabic.

Many people slammed Israel and the media on 𝕏.

“It’s called genocide, not a ‘chaotic incident,’” wrote Lebanese journalist Sarah Abdallah.

She also claimed the president of Colombia declared the murders an example of “genocide” by Israel.

The Joe Biden White House called the killings “alarming,” but as journalist Glenn Greenwald accurately points out, the bombs and bullets used against the Palestinians were paid for by the U.S. government.

U.N. Special Rapporteur on the right to food Michael Fakhri said this isn’t the first time IDF has shot at Palestinians trying to access food, telling Democracy Now it appears as if Israel is trying to intentionally starve the millions of people living in Gaza.

This might be a turning point in the deadly conflict as millions of people across the globe are praying for it to end.

  • ‘Eba Must Go’ – Cross River APC Crisis Worsens As Stakeholders Protest At Party’s Secretariat Against ‘Suspended’ State Chairman

L-R: National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje; ‘Suspended’ chairman of the party in Cross Rivers State, Alphonsus Eba

The crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Cross River State chapter worsened on Thursday as stakeholders who have suspended the State Chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba staged a protest to the Secretariat of the party chanting, “Eba Must go.”

The protesters carried various placards with inscriptions “Alphonsus must go,” “Eba must go” and walked in numbers to the party’s office in Calabar where they converged to vent their anger on how Eba has been managing the party.

THE WHISTLER reported that a group led by Chief Mark Nomba Ayo, Chairman, and Mathias Ake, Secretary, both of Cross River State APC Stakeholders Forum, had passed a vote of no confidence on Eba on the resolution dated 21 February and subsequently suspended him.

The group followed up their decision with a letter to the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, on the same day identifying Mr James Alichie Okpamu as the acting National Chairman “pending rectification.”

But Eba in a counter letter to Ganduje denied any wrongdoing, asserting that the group did not give him “fair hearing” and that if Ganduje honoured their resolution, the party would sink into anarchy.

While addressing the protesters, the acting state chairman appointed by the group, James Okpamu, advised them to be “peaceful and orderly.”

He noted that, “We have taken control of the party from those who are not party members.

“We will soon create proper party structure and give everyone a sense of belonging,” he said.

Speaking with THE WHISTLER in a phone conversation, Ayo said “We are the authentic party leaders of APC in Cross River State. We have James Alichie Okpamu as the acting state chairman, he’s the one recognised.”

Asked if he was aware Eba had called for stakeholders meeting with two party members from each ward, he said, “Yes, that’s what accelerated this protest. Because, the deputy governor told us to be calm to allow the committee to study the crisis within a week and come out with a decision.

“But Eba has been allowed to be active such that he’s calling for a meeting. Somebody who’s been suspended and is no longer the party chairman is calling for a meeting. So we decided we won’t allow that.”

In the meeting called for Saturday, March 2, Eba in a notice said the state governor, Bassey Out “is an automatic member.”

Members called for the meeting include the deputy governor, speaker, former governors and their deputies among others.

He said “Attendance is strictly by invitation” in the notice signed by the acting State Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Edem Iyang, who could not be reached for comment regarding the crisis as of the time of filing this report.

  • Warriors beat Knicks for seventh straight road victory

    Now they can get greedy.

The Warriors won for the 12th time in their last 15 games and made it seven in a row on the road Tuesday night with a 110-99 win over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Now 31-27, the Warriors visit Toronto Friday night with a chance to win their third game on the four-game road trip when they face a team with a 22-37 record.

Stephen Curry, who came into the game in a mini-slump over his last three games, hit eight 3-point baskets and led the Warriors with 31 points, with forward Jonathan Kuminga adding 25.

New York, a shell of itself in recent weeks with the losses of power forward Julius Randle and OG Anunoby to injury, lost for the eighth time in their last 11 games and fell to 35-25. Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 27 points.

Should the Warriors take care of business against Toronto, all that remains on the road trip is a Sunday afternoon date in Boston against the Celtics, the top team in the Eastern Conference with a 46-12 record and 27-3 at home.

The Warriors never trailed in the game, taking charge at the outset with stout defense even if the offensive performance was uneven throughout. Much of their damage was done in the paint, while other than Curry, the 3-point shooting was a problem.

Curry was 8-for-18 on 3-pointers, with the rest of the roster going 6-for-27.

New York shot just 36.8 percent from the floor (35-for-95) and was 12 of 39 from 3-point land.

The Warriors’ hot-and-cold tendencies were on display in the third quarter, at one point rebuilding their lead to as much as 17 points before seeing New York close within 73-67 with a 13-2 run. When the quarter ended, the Warriors took an 80-70 lead into the fourth quarter.

Curry, who had six made field goals in the win over Washington to start the road trip, had six in the first half against the Knicks including 4-for-8 from 3-point range for 17 points. He also had 10 rebounds, seven of them coming in the game’s first five minutes. Kuminga had 14 points at the half for the Warriors.

The Knicks had to feel good about getting the lead under 10 points at the half after hitting just a third (16 of 48) of their shots from the field. Ex-Warrior Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart led New York with 11 points each with Brunson adding nine in he opening half.

The Warriors led 31-19 after the first quarter and it could have been more. The Knicks were just 6-for-22 shooting and 3-for-11 on 3-point attempts, with Curry getting 11 in the first quarter and nailing his first three 3-pointers.

It wasn’t as though the Warriors were lighting it up, hitting just 12 of their first 27 shots. They missed at least three layup attempts and a number of other shots with good looks that didn’t fall.

The Warriors scored the first 14 points with New York missing its first nine shots, and had leads of 17-2 and 20-4 before the Knicks got anything going.

  • Black Women Comb Through The Struggle Of Hair Depression

Zoe Mckey, a Howard University student and hairstylist, braids a client’s hair. Mckey has spent the last three years braiding her friend’s and peer’s hair for events and daily life. (Makenna Underwood,HU News Service)

    By Makenna Underwood

Strings of braiding hair, rubber bands, and Shine ‘n Jam braiding gel string across Zoe Mckey’s living room table.

“My hair is a big form of self-expression,” Mckey said. “You know, I’m not really like a fashion killer, but I do walk around with a new style in my head every week, so it’s a chance for me to be creative, to try new things.”

When her hair isn’t done, Mckey said she faces a phenomenon called hair depression.

Hair depression is a phenomenon among predominantly Black women that associates depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem with not having one’s hair done.

“I’m taking a swimming class right now, so I can’t really have my hair done like I typically do,” she said. “When you get out of the pool, and your hair is dry, and your braids are all fuzzy,  you’re not really feeling your best confident self when you look in the mirror.”

For black women and girls, their hair is associated with their identity and how they navigate both collegiate and professional spaces.

“Afro hair has been and still is correlated to ‘wildness’ and ‘unprofessionalism,’ which can cause anxiety in those with afro hair, especially when going for job interviews or psychological assessments,” said Heidi Pickett, a trainee clinical psychologist at the National Health Service.

Mckey feels that she feels her mood is directly connected to her hair appearance.

“When I do my hair, I feel at my most confident… so, I believe it’s like a really big confidence booster,” Mckey said. “Typically, if I’m like losing it or sadder than usual, I’ll be like, ‘let me go do my hair.’”

Hair depression, coupled with prejudices such as texturism—discriminations towards those with kinkier hair—can lead Black women to feel uncomfortable or even unwelcome in professional spaces.

In contrast to the mental health effects of hair depression, a new phenomenon has taken place: psychohairapy.

According to Dr. Afiya Mbilishaka, a psychologist and Black mental health advocate, psychohairapy teaches stylists and barbers mental health first aid through workshops, certification classes and presentations.

“Incorporating self-care techniques such as hair routines and hair products with nutritional elements can decrease negative symptoms of anxiety, stress, and depression for all ages,” said Synia Shim, a psychotherapist and psychology student at the New School for Social Research.

Though she sometimes grapples with hair depression, Mckey chooses to look at the idea introspectively.

“You know the concept of you’re not as important as you think you are? You’re not on people’s minds like you think you are,” Mckey said. “People got a whole bunch of stuff going on, and if their primary concern is how your hair looks, then that says more about them than it says about you.”

  • These senators voted against the stopgap bill to avert a government shutdown

Thirteen Senators voted against the short-term spending bill to help avert a partial government shutdown on Thursday.

GOP Sens. Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.), Mike Braun (Ind.), Ted Budd (N.C.), Mike Crapo (Idaho), Ted Cruz (Texas), Josh Hawley (Mo.), Ron Johnson (Wis.), Mike Lee (Utah), Roger Marshall (Kan.), Eric Schmitt (Mo.), Rick Scott (Fla.), Tommy Turberville (Ala.) and J.D. Vance (Ohio) voted against the measure Thursday night.

The upper chamber voted 77-13 to advance the funding measure, sending the bill to President Biden’s desk. The Senate passage of the legislation comes just hours after the House voted 320-99 to advance the measure.

The bill keeps funding the Departments of Agriculture, Interior, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Veterans Affairs, Energy, Justice, Commerce, Energy and other departments through March 8.

Now, members have until March 22 to agree and pass funding for the legislative branch, foreign operations and the Pentagon, along with the Departments of Health, Human Services, State and Homeland Security, Labor and Education.

Right before the bill’s passage, four amendments were voted on. Cruz, one of 13 senators who voted against the passage, tried attaching proposals from H.R. 2, the House’s border security bill, which would’ve forced the lower chamber to pass the spending package again.

The funding measure passed a day after being announced by the House and Senate leaders. The stopgap allows members more time to negotiate on full-year funding.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro (Conn.), the top Democrat member on the House Appropriations Committee, said that no “poison pills” were in the funding batch, namely Republican member proposals targeting abortion access.

  • Epic: Trump Takes Gloves Off Against Radical Left’s Fake News, Slams ‘Mental and Physical Basket Case’ Biden

Former president has to explain his use of sarcasm as MSM tries to smear him as mentally unfit.

Former President Donald Trump knocked Democrats’ desperate efforts to portray him as mentally unfit amid his tremendous momentum in the 2024 race, slamming the mainstream media’s recent fake news falsely claiming he forgot his wife Melania’s name.

“Radical left Democrats are at it again. They’re constantly making up stories about me because their candidate is a mental and physical basket case,” Trump said in a video posted to Truth Social Wednesday, adding, “There’s never been anything like it — he’s also the worst president in the history of our country.

Trump went on to point out that during an appearance by Joe Biden on Late Night with Seth Meyers earlier this week, the corrupt 81-year-old Democrat puppet president deflected concerns over his age by falsely claiming Trump called Melania by the wrong name during a recent CPAC appearance.

“You got to take a look at the other guy,” Biden told host Seth Meyers. “He’s about as old as I am, but he can’t remember his wife’s name.”

    • URGENT! Keep Alex Jones in the fight against the NWO! Please pray & contribute at DefendJones.com today!

    Trump continued:

“[Biden] went on a very poorly rated show last night and he talked about Donald Trump and his wife. ‘I don’t know the name of my wife.’ He was referring to the fact that at CPAC – we had a sold-out speech the biggest audience they’ve had in years. I think maybe ever – I made this statement that Melania was very popular, because when I mentioned her name, the audience went wild.”

“I then looked at the two people, man and wife, Matt and Mercedes Schlapp, and I said, ‘Wow, they really like the First Lady.’

“So this got taken as the fact that I thought Mercedes was the First Lady. It has nothing to do with that.”

These people are really dishonest,” he added. “They are absolutely something. They have a horrible candidate who’s a horrible president. They make up things constantly.

Trump went on to point out the disingenuous media frequently takes him out of context when he sarcastically swaps Biden’s and Barack Obama’s names during speeches to illustrate that Biden’s is Obama’s third term.

“You take a look at when I use ‘Barack Hussein Obama’ and I interject him into where it’s supposed to be Biden, and I do it purposely for comedic reasons and for sarcasm, because a lot of people say that Obama’s running the country, not Biden, because he’s sleeping all the time.

“They say, ‘Oh, I don’t know the name of the president,’ or when I imitate this guy getting off the stage. What they do is they say, ‘Oh, he had trouble getting off the stage.’”

“I have no trouble getting off the stage,” Trump stated. “And anybody that watches what I do at rallies would say, ‘Wow, that’s amazing. He can go two hours without a teleprompter not making even a little mistake.’ Very few people – maybe, almost nobody – can do what I do.

So here’s the story: The disinformation of the Democrats is unbelievable. They do it because they have a horrible candidate.

Trump added, “Don’t associate me with the mental midget that you portray, because I want to tell you, he should not be leading this country. And hopefully, on November 5th, he’s not going to be.”

The former president’s forceful rebuke of the media’s fake news comes as concerns over Biden’s mental fitness reach fever pitch, with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre this week having to bat down questions over why Biden wouldn’t submit to a cognitive test in light of a recent special counsel’s report describing him as an “elderly man with a poor memory.”

It’s gotten so bad other countries have taken to making fun of the U.S. and its bumbling, comically senile president:

  • Bandits Have Taken Over Forests In Ekiti North — Monarch Who Escaped Assassination Says

The Alara of Ara in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, says bandits have taken over bushes in Ekiti North Senatorial District.

Oba Fatoba, who escaped when suspected kidnappers recently killed two of his monarch colleagues in the state, expressed his worries at a Yoruba security summit held in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Thursday.

The monarch disclosed that forests in Ekiti north senatorial district, which consist of Ido-Osi, Ikole, Ilejemeje, Moba and Oye Local Government Areas, are porous and bandits find their way easily to the state.

He implored the government to be proactive when dealing with security issues in the country, noting the need to deploy technology in fighting crime.

According to him, “I want to implore government to provide more security in nooks and cronies of this country, the bushes have been overtaken by bandits, I was opportune to go into the bushes and I saw that they have taken over the bushes especially in my part of my state which is Ekiti north.

“It is very porous because it is a savanna forest. They can move 50km in the bush, we need new technology to avert sad occurrences. We need drones, satellites alongside other technology to tackle insecurity.

  • Fact Check: No, 50% of Biden’s Michigan vote was not unverified mail-in votes

After Michigan’s 2024 primary presidential election, unsubstantiated claims of absentee ballot voter fraud surfaced on social media.

“Fifty percent of the vote was mail-in, unverified, no signature, no ID, no chance for election fraud,” a man featured in one Instagram reel said as he discussed how many votes President Joe Biden got in the state’s Democratic primary election.

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

Data collected by Michigan’s State Department shows that out of the 768,256 votes cast in Michigan’s Democratic primary, 478,072 Democratic votes were submitted as absentee ballots — so, more than half of the votes cast were absentee.

But there is no evidence that those votes were casted without a signature or identification.

To verify a ballot, Michigan’s voting rules require clerks to check signatures on  absentee ballot requests and absentee ballot envelopes against the signatures voters have on file.

Voters who apply for absentee ballots must be registered to vote. To register to vote in Michigan, people must provide proof of identity. Michigan and most other states do not ask for a copy of the voter’s ID to be returned with the absentee ballot, although a few states, including Arkansas, Georgia, Minnesota and Ohio do have this requirement, according to information by the National Conference of State Legislatures.

We searched Google and the Nexis news database and found no credible reports of absentee ballot voter fraud in Michigan’s presidential primary race.

PolitiFact has previously debunked claims of voter fraud in Michigan’s 2022 midterm elections and the state’s 2020 presidential election.

Biden received 81% of Democratic votes in the primary and nearly 19% were cast to other Democratic candidates or marked as “uncommitted,” part of a protest effort against Biden’s support of Israel in the war against Hamas.

We rate the claim that 50% of votes to Biden in Michigan’s primary election were mail-in, without signatures or identification verification False.

  • Putin issues nuclear threat over Western troops in Ukraine

By Vladimir Isachenkov | Associated Press

MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed Thursday to fulfill Moscow’s goals in Ukraine and sternly warned the West against deeper involvement in the fighting, saying that such a move is fraught with the risk of a global nuclear conflict.

Putin’s blunt warning came in a state-of-the-nation address ahead of next month’s election he’s all but certain to win, underlining his readiness to raise the stakes in the tug-of-war with the West to protect the Russian gains in Ukraine.

In an apparent reference to French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement earlier this week that the future deployment of Western ground troops to Ukraine should not be “ruled out”, Putin warned that it would lead to “tragic” consequences for the countries who decide to do that.

Putin noted that while accusing Russia of plans to attack NATO allies in Europe, Western allies were “selecting targets for striking our territory” and “talking about the possibility of sending a NATO contingent to Ukraine.”

“We remember the fate of those who sent their troop contingents to the territory of our country,” the Russian leader said in an apparent allusion to the failed invasions by Napoleon and Hitler. “Now the consequences for the potential invaders will be far more tragic.”

In a two-hour speech before an audience of lawmakers and top officials, Putin cast Western leaders as reckless and irresponsible and declared that the West should keep in mind that “we also have the weapons that can strike targets on their territory, and what they are now suggesting and scaring the world with, all that raises the real threat of a nuclear conflict that will mean the destruction of our civilization.”

The strong statement followed earlier warnings from Putin, who has issued frequent reminders of Russia’s nuclear might since he sent troops into Ukraine in February 2022 as he sought to discourage the West from expanding its military support for Kyiv.

Putin emphasized that Russia’s nuclear forces are in “full readiness,” saying that the military has deployed potent new weapons, some of them tested on the battlefield in Ukraine.

The Kremlin leader said they include the new Sarmat heavy intercontinental ballistic missile that has entered service with Russian nuclear forces, along with the Burevestnik atomic-powered cruise missile and the Poseidon atomic-powered, nuclear-armed drone, which are completing their tests.

At the same time, he rejected Western leaders’ statements about the threat of a Russian attack on NATO allies in Europe as “ravings” and again dismissed Washington’s claim that Moscow was pondering the deployment of space-based nuclear weapons.

Putin charged that the U.S. allegations were part of a ploy to draw Russia into talks on nuclear arms control on American terms even as Washington continues its efforts to deliver a “strategic defeat” to Moscow in Ukraine.

“Ahead of the U.S. election, they just want to show their citizens, as well as others, that they continue to rule the world,” he said. “It won’t work.”

In his speech that focused heavily on economic and social issues ahead of the March 15-17 presidential vote, Putin argued that Russia was “defending its sovereignty and security and protecting our compatriots” in Ukraine, charging that the Russian forces have the upper hand in the fighting.

He reaffirmed his claim that the West was bent on destroying Russia, saying “they need a dependent, waning, dying space in the place of Russia so that they can do whatever they want.”

The Russian leader honored the troops fallen in Ukraine with a moment of silence, and said that military veterans should form the core of the country’s new elite, inviting them to join a new training program for senior civil servants.

Putin has repeatedly said that he sent troops into Ukraine in February 2022 to protect Russian interests and prevent Ukraine from posing a major security threat to Russia by joining NATO. Kyiv and its allies have denounced it as an unprovoked act of aggression.

The Russian leader has repeatedly signaled a desire to negotiate an end to the fighting but warned that Russia will hold onto its gains.

Putin, 71, who is running as an independent candidate in the March 15-17 presidential election, relies on the tight control over Russia’s political system that he has established during 24 years in power.

Prominent critics who could challenge him have either been imprisoned or are living abroad, while most independent media have been banned, meaning that Putin’s reelection is all but assured. He faces token opposition from three other candidates nominated by Kremlin-friendly parties represented in parliament.

Russia’s best-known opposition leader Alexei Navalny, whose attempt to run against Putin in 2018 was rejected, died suddenly in an Arctic prison colony earlier this month, while serving a 19-year sentence on extremism charges. Navalny’s funeral is set for Friday.
