The unknown gunmen that attacked the office of the vigilante group of Amichi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State will be brought to book.
Our correspondent reports that the invaders carried out the attack on Thursday morning, setting a stationary security van and a guard inside it ablaze in the process.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, on Sunday, stated that everything possible would be done to bring the perpetrators to book. According to him, “No stone will be left unturned in hunting down the gunmen who attacked and burnt the vigilante office at Amichi.”
His assurance was contained in a release by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga.
The CP, in the release, prayed for the repose of the soul of the dead. He also commiserated with the bereaved family, assuring that the dead would not be vain.
The PPRO stated that, “CP Adeoye commended vigilante groups across the state for their commitment to the protection of the citizenry and assured that the police would do all within their powers to protect them.”
The commissioner therefore directed Police Tactical Teams and Special Forces across the state to respond promptly to all distress calls from vigilante groups anytime they come under attack.

LOS ANGELES — Sitting next to his wife, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck slumped back in his courtside seat with a pained look on his face. Across the court, tennis superstar Novak Djokovic looked around for answers. Gary Payton II and Lester Quinones danced in front of Golden State’s bench, clearly restless.
It took 23 real-life minutes to complete the final two minutes of the Warriors’ win over the Lakers. A pair of drawn-out replay reviews disrupted the flow of a tight game, and the Crypto.com Arena’s shot clock malfunction brought it to a screeching halt.
The officiating crew tried restarting play twice, only for the shot clock to remain frozen. Without working shot clocks, or apparently operational backup machines, the Lakers’ public address announcer finished the last 1:35 by informing the arena of the shot clock time every five seconds.
“That was crazy,” Draymond Green said postgame. “Just finish the game already. That was nuts. But we got through it.”
A Crypto.com Arena spokesperson and shot clock engineer declined to comment when approached after the game.
The stoppages weren’t without drama. Los Angeles stopped the clock initially by challenging an out of bounds call, ultimately winning the challenge because both Andrew Wiggins and Jaxson Hayes simultaneously tapped the ball out of play.
The officiating crew also retroactively negated a LeBron James 3-pointer that he hit moments before play paused, ruling that he stepped out of bounds.
And two seconds after that lull, the Lakers won another challenge, successfully earning possession by virtue of Green’s heel touching the baseline.
Those replays took several minutes each to sort out.
“I’m not a fan of replay,” Steve Kerr said. “I think we should have replay just for buzzer-beaters and that’s it. The whole goal with replay is to try to get everything right, but there’s 100 plays at each end every night that are subjective. It’s not tennis, it’s not hawkeye where the ball’s either in or out. There’s all kinds of subjective stuff that happens. We’re never going to get everything right, I think the flow of the game is way more important.”
Then, the shot clocks got fried. Steph Curry, in his first game back after missing the previous three contests with an ankle sprain, had to stay fresh while no basketball was played for about 15 minutes. James, the 39-year-old legend was suddenly stationary after playing 37 intense minutes.
“It’s hard,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. “Guys stiffen up real quick after playing such high intensity, and it’s out of anyone’s control when the computer malfunctions.”
Curry and Green jogged up and down the court and did a couple sets of high-knees to stay loose. James said postgame that during the stoppage, the Lakers had a set play called in advance, but they didn’t get to run it for about the length of a Seinfeld episode.
A couple times, everyone geared up to resume play, only for the shot clock to remain frozen after the inbounds pass. After one false start, James launched the ball high up into the air, nearly touching the suspended center-court scoreboard in frustration.
For a league whose television product is of the utmost importance as a substantial revenue stream, it was a horrible look on the national broadcast. Scattered boos filled Crypto.com Arena.
“Definitely weird,” Curry said of the ending. “I watch a lot of golf, I want to know if they did like that ‘playing through’ thing where you see the commercials running and you’re just waiting for the game to come back. Probably not the greatest for TV.”
The Warriors closed out Los Angeles once play resumed. Curry stayed in front of James and swiped a steal, clinching the tight win. The victory could have major ramifications for each team, as they’re projected to face off in the 9-10 play-in round. The win vaulted the Warriors over the Lakers in the standings and serves a step toward earning a tiebreaker.
But the lasting image will be the players standing aimlessly on the court, waiting idly to do their jobs as fans looked on in frustration.
“It was bizarre,” Kerr said. “It seems like a few times a year, you get clock issues. That’s about as extreme as I’ve ever been a part of, where the backup unit doesn’t work either. It’s unfortunate. I felt bad for the fans. It was a great game, and all of the sudden, the last two minutes, everyone’s kind of just looking at each other wondering what to do.”
17-year-old suspect caught with Mexican toddler in car following high-stakes chase at border
A teenage suspect was arrested for smuggling illegal aliens, including a toddler, during a high-speed pursuit and bail-out in Texas this week, authorities say.
The harrowing incident unfolded on Wednesday in Webb County near the Mexican border.
Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) troopers attempted to pull over a suspicious sedan in a residential neighborhood when the driver began taking evasive action.
Footage from the ensuing chase has been released by TxDPS.
The vehicle can be seen rocketing down US-83, swerving onto the shoulder to rip past a police SUV.
The driver then leaves the roadway briefly to skirt stopped vehicles then turns through a busy intersection against oncoming traffic as other motorists slam on their brakes.
The suspect eventually entered another neighborhood and bailed out of the moving vehicle with his passengers still inside.
He was apprehended after a brief foot chase and identified as 17-year-old Gustavo Omar Arizpe Jr., a resident of Laredo.
TxDPS troopers found four illegal aliens from Mexico inside the vehicle, including a 3-year-old child.
It is unclear if anyone in the car was related to the toddler.
All four illegals were turned over to Border Patrol and Arizpe was charged with evading arrest and smuggling of persons.
Dangerous smuggling pursuits unfold constantly along the U.S.-Mexico border, as InfoWars frequently reports.
The federal government is set to formally unveil Phase II of the Nigeria Sugar Master Plan (NSMP).
This, according to the Executive Secretary of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC), Mr Kamar Bakrin, is in demonstration of the President’s commitment to the NSMP goals of self-sufficiency in sugar production, job creation, and industrialisation.
Speaking at the Sugar Industry Monitoring Group (SIMOG) meeting in Abuja, the Executive Secretary shared the performance evaluation of Phase I of the NSMP and the implementation roadmap for Phase II, emphasising the need for operators, who are members of the Group, to keep to their commitments while promising that NSDC will play its sector development role to take the industry to the desired heights.
“The plan targets the production of a minimum of two million metric tons of sugar, 400 MW of electricity, and the creation of 110,000 jobs across the value-chain, nationwide.
“Crucially, the NSMP II will require between 200,000 to 250,000 hectares of suitable land, and an estimated $3.5bn in investments. In addition, collaborative efforts will focus on empowering host communities of sugar projects,” he said.
The NSDC boss added that a robust framework has been devised to monitor the performance of NSMP II, establishing clear targets and milestones over the period.
“This monitoring mechanism ensures accountability and facilitates timely adjustments to optimise outcomes,” Bakrin noted.
According to him, another important aspect the Council is working on is the amendment of the NSDC Act to be able to appropriately support the growth of the sector and give investors’ confidence.
In 2012, the federal government approved and launched the NSMP, which is the strategic road map for the sugar sector’s development and the enactment of a conducive policy environment for its implementation.
The policy positions the industry to attract investments in domestic production through backward integration programmes, offering tax incentives to investors.
SIMOG is made up of CEOs of all local sugar manufacturing companies. It is a peer review group that promotes the credibility of outcomes by validating performance data and providing a platform for sharing good practices and measures taken to overcome implementation challenges.
Participants at the SIMOG meeting include Ravindira Singhvi of Dangote Sugar Refinery, Temitope Hassan of Dangote Sugar Refinery, Ayodele Abioye of BUA Foods, Abdulrasheed Olayinka of BUA Foods, Labaran Saidu of BUA Foods, Sadiq Usman of Flour Mills, Oluwakemi Ashiru of Flour Mills, Onome Okurah of Flour Mills, Cosmos Ikhupria of KIA Africa, Inem Eyiho of KIA Africa, Owoniyi Babatunde of KIA Africa and Mrs. Mam Odofin of KIA Africa.

A maxim in many sports, including women’s basketball, is defense wins championships. Butte College came up against the leading defensive team in the state Saturday afternoon, and that’s the squad that will play for the title.
Glendale Community College jumped out early, held the Roadrunners to 24% shooting and upset the state’s top-ranked team 66-42 in the semifinals of the California Community College Athletic Association Championship at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut.
Butte (30-2) lost for the first time in 28 games, while seventh-ranked GCC (30-2) extended its win streak to 24.
“When you lose in the Final Four, it sucks,” Head Coach Tyler Newton said by phone as Moorpark led defending champion Orange Coast in the second semi. “We’re not at the nearest bridge jumping off, but everyone is pretty upset.”
Vying for a second straight trip to the final in its third straight Elite Eight, Butte (30-2) missed 21 of its first 25 shots and never got untracked. Seventh-ranked Glendale (30-2), by contrast, made 15 of its first 28 and wound up shooting 52%.
The Roadrunners attempted 71 shots — including 35 from three-point range, where it made just four. The Vagueros shot 48 times and made 9 of 23 threes.
GCC came in as the state leader in points allowed, 45 a game, and fifth in shooting percentage allowed, 31%. It did even better against Butte, which entered as the state’s third-best team in shooting (68%), threes (43.7%) and scoring (81 points a game).
“We’re a pretty good defensive ballclub as well, top five in the state,” Newton said. “We held them to their average. I don’t think we did a good job adjusting to their physicality and picking up the physicality on our end.”
Sophomore guard Patil Yaacoubian led GCC with 19 points, going 5 for 11 on threes and 4 for 4 on free throws. Backcourt-mate Malia Ulery, the top-scoring Vaquero on the season, added 14 points and seven rebounds, and forward Paola Gorgeiz chipped in 10 points and seven boards.

Guards Campbell Vieg and Sarah Tait scored nine each for Butte, whose leading scorer, all-state guard Morgan Trigueiro, went 1 for 11 for two points. Vieg, Tait and guard Jocelyn Medina — who had 17 points and 10 rebounds the previous round, but scored seven against Glendale — combined to shoot 10 of 37.
“The group played very hard, we competed, we were trying everything to get it going,” Newton said. “They hit some timely shots, we missed some uncharacteristic shots — layups, things we’ve been finishing all year — and when you have your worst shooting performance of the season in the Final Four, these kinds of things happen.”
Inverse deja vu
In a reverse of Butte’s quarterfinal win over Long Beach City College, a team with a larger height differential but not as fast as GCC, the Roadrunners fell behind quickly and struggled to turn the tide.
The Vaqueros raced out to a 7-0 lead, benefitting from missed shots and a turnover from Butte, and led 13-3 after five minutes. Butte got as close as four, 15-11, off a steal and fastbreak layup by Vieg — a rare glimmer of the Roadrunners’ typical style of play. But Butte failed to score the rest of the quarter and finished the period trailing 19-11.
“We came out and really couldn’t get going offensively,” Newton said. “I thought that they were very physical, it was tough for us to get to the rim, and we weren’t getting into any kind of groove.
“We just couldn’t get it going. It was weird.”
The drought extended into the first six minutes of the second quarter, when GGC built its largest lead of the half at 30-13. The Roadrunners perked up, making six of their last 10 shots of the period, but the Vaqueros matched Butte to take a 38-23 edge into intermission.
In the first half, GCC outshot Butte 53.6% to 28.6% — 45.5% to 21% from three — and held Trigueiro scoreless on 0-for-6 shooting. Tait led the team with eight points and six rebounds; Vieg added six and, like Tait, shot 3 for 9, though Vieg drove for layups and Tait let fly from behind the arc.
“I thought we were OK,” Newton said. “We were regrouping in the locker room; no one was panicking. We just needed to make some adjustments and get back after it.”
Yet, the second half brought more of the same. Butte got as close as 13 twice, the latter 43-30 with 3:11 left in the third. A 7-0 run in the next 90 seconds put GCC up by 20, and the teams essentially traded misses or baskets the rest of the way.
The Roadrunners’ final point came on a free throw by Vieg with 1:52 left. A basket and two free throws set the final margin. GCC faces Butte nemesis Orange Coast (29-3), which rallied in the final minute, at 1 p.m. Sunday for the championship.
“I told the girls, ‘We played bad today, but we’re not a bad basketball team — we’re a good basketball team that just played bad’,” Newton said. “At this stage, if you don’t play your best basketball, you’re probably going home.”
Despite the disappointment, Newton reflected with pride on the season overall — two seasons, actually, in which this sophomore class recorded more victories than any other in school history. The seven freshmen who joined the six sophomores leave the team in good position for another run.
“Obviously the season was special: 30 wins, three all-state selections and nine all-conference players for the first time, four straight conference titles, three straight Elite Eights. This group made a lot of history,” Newton said. “We held our heads high.”
Former President Trump criticized President Biden for his Israel policy in an interview set to air Sunday.
“And all of a sudden, he dumped Israel, that’s what he’s doing, he dumped Israel,” Trump said in reference to Biden on Fox News’ “MediaBuzz” with host Howard Kurtz. “He just said, essentially, that Bibi Netanyahu should take a walk.”
Biden, who has been facing pressure from the left wing of his party to support a permanent cease-fire in the war in Gaza, said he has called on Israel to “do its part” to let more aid into the territory and allow additional border openings in his recent State of the Union address.
Biden was caught on a hot mic following the recent address telling Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg that he told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that they need to have a “come-to-Jesus meeting.”
Biden also recently suggested that Netanyahu’s policies in relation to the war in Gaza have been “hurting Israel more than helping Israel.”
“What’s happening is he has a right to defend Israel, a right to continue to pursue Hamas,” Biden said to MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart. “But he must, he must, he must pay more attention to the innocent lives being lost as a consequence of the actions taken.”
“In my view, he’s hurting Israel more than helping Israel,” Biden added. “It’s contrary to what Israel stands for. And I think it’s a big mistake.”
In the interview with Kurtz, Trump also reacted negatively to comments recently made by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D) in which he called for new elections in Israel and said that Netanyahu has “lost his way.”
“The Democrats are very bad for Israel,” Trump said.
In his comments, Schumer also said that “[a]s a lifelong supporter of Israel, it has become clear to me: The Netanyahu coalition no longer fits the needs of Israel after Oct. 7.”
“The world has changed — radically — since then, and the Israeli people are being stifled right now by a governing vision that is stuck in the past,” Schumer continued.

Musk was responding to a video of a New York City woman explaining how illegal immigration under Joe Biden has transformed the city into a haven of crime and degeneracy with no law enforcement to protect citizens.
The woman said illegal aliens living next door to her “piss on [her] door” and she could tell that “they’re gang lords.”

“They’re tattooed head to toe, the people pissing on my door,” she said. “And then there’s no law against illegal migrants committing crimes. So again, it’s lawlessness.”
“I’ve lived here for 50 years and this is not fair that we have– that we feel unsafe in our homeland and our own country is not defending us. And there’s nobody to protect us,” she added.
Though a longtime critic of Joe Biden’s open border policy, Musk has turned up the rhetorical heat as the Biden regime has facilitated hardened criminal illegal aliens entering the U.S., such as through a parole program that was recently upheld by a federal judge.
“Why does the radical far left Biden administration welcome violent illegals into America to prey upon your friends & family? We are even warned by other countries that it is insane to make America a haven for their convicted criminals!”

Multiple award-winning Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has disassociated himself from the Afrobeats genre, following in the footsteps of his industry colleague Burna Boy.
In a series of Instagram posts, the Grammy-winning artist announced his new album titled ‘Morayo’ and made it clear that it is not intended for Afrobeats lovers.
The ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner cautioned the public against referring to him as an Afrobeats artist and urged fans not to download his album if they are fans of his previous hits like ‘Pakuromo’.
Wizkid emphasized his evolution as an artist, stating, “Album name ‘Morayo’ best I ever made. I am not an Afrobeats artistes. Don’t call me that.
“If you like Afrobeats please don’t download my album, I’m not Afro anything.
“And please if you like ‘Pakuromo’ Wizkid, don’t like this album. In fact, delete me from your playlist and life.”
Furthermore, he warned bloggers against posting his new album on their blogs upon its release.
Wizkid’s declaration comes after Burna Boy criticised the Afrobeats genre in August 2023, describing it as lacking substance and predominantly focusing on portraying an amazing time without real-life experiences.
Burna Boy had said, “Not even experience, because half of them, like 90% of them, have no real-life experience that they can understand.
“That’s why you hear most Nigerian music, African Music, or Afrobeats, as you people call it, is mostly about nothing, absolutely nothing. There is no substance to it, like nobody is talking about anything, it’s just a great time. But at the end of the day, life isn’t an amazing time.”
Afrobeats, a genre that gained widespread mainstream acclaim in the late 2010s, has been celebrated as one of Africa’s biggest exports, with artists like Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage and Burna Boy leading the charge.
Wizkid, known for his massive global fanbase and numerous accolades, had hinted at a five-year hiatus from music in November 2023.
However, he surprised fans by releasing the second instalment of his ‘Soundman’ extended play (EP) in December that same year.
