  • PSG make an offer to sign Jadon Sancho this summer

Jadon Sancho’s future with United is anyone’s guess at this stage. Initially it looked very certain that Sancho would be moving from Old Trafford this summer. However, a positive meeting with Erik ten Hag has thrown that into the air, suggesting a stay may be likely. Now, we have one of Europe’s top teams reportedly interested in the 24-year-old.

So what’s been going on with the situation around the winger and what’s the latest?

Sancho’s transfer journey so far this summer

After a very public falling out with ten Hag, Sancho was exiled to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the final half of last year’s season. Back in a Dortmund shirt, Sancho looked more like his old self again, turning out strong performances on both wings. Across the 21 appearances, the 24-year-old grabbed three goals and three assists towards the club’s campaign. With strong showings on the first squad, Sancho helped Dortmund to the final of the Champions League where they lost to Real Madrid 2-0, and helped a fifth place finish in the Bundesliga.

With the difficult relationship with ten Hag and Sancho playing better away from Old Trafford, it looked set for the star to leave United with Dortmund having him as their top target this summer and a very strong interest from Italian giants, Juventus.

However, with the pre-season starting back up and no deal completed, Sancho returned to Carrington for training. However, this return did not go as most people expected. Following a positive meeting with ten Hag, the pair agreed to leave their disagreement behind them and move forwards.

This saw Sancho back into team training as opposed to the individual training sessions everyone was expecting to see. With this U-turn in the pair’s relationship, it was beginning to look like Sancho may have a place in ten Hag’s side after all. This change in feeling would have affected United’s plans, with Sancho being a priority transfer highlighted by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

    PSG’s interest in Sancho

Now, reports from Santi Aouna, a journalist at Foot Mercato, suggest that French champions PSG have contacted Sancho and have offered the star a contract. The Parisians are also reportedly close to reaching an agreement on personal terms with the Englishman.

According to the report, the United winger is ‘”extremely excited” by the offer from PSG and the opportunity this brings. However, it’s unsure how the new relationship with ten Hag may affect this offer. Now that the air has been cleared, United may not wish to part ways with Sancho. If ten Hag feels the winger can fit into his plans, the Dutchman may look to retain the young forward.

United will have to accept making a loss on the star if they are to part ways with the winger. Having originally bought the star for £73 million back in 2021, over time his performances haven’t matched those of his peak at Borussia Dortmund. Unfortunately for United, his market value has now plummeted to around half of that original fee, with the Red Devils only looking for £35 million for the star.

  • Fabrizio Romano reveals Manchester United ‘pushing’ to complete surprise transfer in the coming days

Manchester United has successfully completed the acquisitions of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee this summer. Yoro, aged 18, made his first unofficial appearance against Rangers recently, while Zirkzee is set to join the squad in the United States after competing in Euro 2024 with the Netherlands.

In addition to these signings, United is actively pursuing a deal for Manuel Ugarte from PSG. However, negotiations for Matthijs de Ligt have been put on hold due to Bayern Munich’s high valuation of the player and United’s need to offload some current squad members.

Fabrizio Romano, among others, have disclosed that United is also working on securing a young talent regarded as a wonderkid. Chido Obi Martin, one of the brightest prospects in Arsenal’s academy, is looking to leave the London club after unsuccessful scholarship negotiations.

According to Academy Scoop, Obi Martin visited Carrington to discuss a potential move to United this summer. This report has been confirmed by David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano, with the Manchester Evening News indicating that United is optimistic about finalising a deal for the 16-year-old.

Obi Martin had an impressive season with Arsenal U18s, scoring 32 goals in just 18 games, including six hat-tricks and a remarkable seven-goal performance against Norwich.

Romano has stated that United is “pushing” to complete the deal soon, with the player expected to make his final decision within the next few days. “Manchester United want to close the Chido Obi Martin deal and are pushing to get it sealed as soon as possible,” Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing. “Chido is expected to make his final decision in the next hours or days after visiting several clubs in the UK and Germany, it’s considered imminent.”

The potential signing of Obi Martin is seen as a significant move for United, with the young forward expected to be a key player in the club’s future success. Credit goes to Dan Ashworth and Omar Berrada for their proactive efforts in securing talented players early in the transfer window.

  • Toby Savin transfer to Manchester United collapsed after failing medical

Toby Savin must feel that he’s the most unlucky football player in the world

Not every footballer gets the chance to join Manchester United Football Club.

Savin had the unique distinction that the club has tried to sign him twice.

Alas, it has not materialised as news emerges that he’s failed another medical.

    Another medical, you say?

    That’s right.

It seems that United tried to sign Toby Savin in the January transfer window. But that move did not materialise once he failed a medical.

And news has now emerged that he’s failed another medical this month.

    Who is Toby Savin?

You might be wondering, who in the world is Toby Savin?

The club has been linked to names such as Manuel Ugarte, Jarrad Brainthwaite and Matthijs de Ligt. But there are likely not many columns that were dedicated to Toby Savin.

That’s because he had been identified to join the club as the third choice goalkeeper.

Tom Heaton has moved into a coaching role and the club wanted to bring in a new face to deputise for Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

According to the Daily Mail, Savin was playing for Accrington Stanley in League Two when he failed his first medical in January. Apparently, he’d been followed and scouted by the likes of United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur for the last three years.

After only making nine appearances last campaign due to injury issues, the League Two side released the ‘keeper this summer.

And United went in for him again on a free transfer, only for him to fail another medical.

Because of that, United passed on the opportunity to sign him and he instead signed for Shrewsbury Town on a new year deal. The Shrews are hoping that he will regain his fitness at the League One side and show the aptitude that got the attention of some elite English Premier League sides.

Unfortunately for Savin, it seems like a once (or in this case, twice) in a lifetime opportunity may just have passed him by. Maybe he’ll be able to make a dream move to Old Trafford at some point later in his career.

  • Panathinaikos make progress in signing Manchester United attacker

    Panathinaikos logo

With Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee having already joined Manchester United, the club’s new hierarchy’s transfer strategy is making waves this summer.

While additional signings are anticipated, the Red Devils must also offload players to balance their finances.

The new leadership have already sold Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, and Donny van de Beek in this window.

Another player potentially on the move is Facundo Pellistri.

Pellistri spent last season on loan at Granada, scoring twice and provided two assists in 15 La Liga appearances.

This summer, the 22-year-old Uruguay winger is attracting interest from multiple clubs.

Despite showing flashes of his quality, including a notable performance against Barcelona, Pellistri has struggled with consistency since joining United in 2020.

Pellistri has firmly established himself as a first team player for the Uruguay national side, but hasn’t been able to have the same impact at Old Trafford.

His contract with United runs until 2025, but the club is believed to be open to offers.

Greek Super League side Panathinaikos have reportedly made significant progress in talks with United to sign Pellistri, as per journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos.

Other clubs, including Flamengo, Corinthians, Besiktas and Boca Juniors, have also shown interest, especially following Pellistri’s impressive showing at CONMEBOL Copa America 2024, where he helped Uruguay secure a third-place finish.

It remains to be seen if Panathinaikos or any other interested club will finalise a deal to acquire the Uruguayan international this summer.

  • Manchester United preparing £17m offer for 24-year-old Copa America standout Richard Rios

Manchester United aims to enhance their squad following an eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season, seeking significant improvement in the upcoming campaign.

Despite a early slow start to the summer transfer window, activity has surged at Old Trafford with several deals finalised and more underway.

The club has secured striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and teenage center-back Leny Yoro from Lille.

Additionally, negotiations for Manuel Ugarte are progressing, while Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite deals have been put on hold due to their valuations.

Strengthening the midfield remains a priority for United this summer.

Reports suggest the Red Devils might be willing to move Casemiro on this summer and have decided against exercising the €20m buy option for Sofyan Amrabat after his loan spell from Fiorentina last season.

Scott McTominay has attracted interest from Fulham, Tottenham, and Galatasaray. Should the Scotland international depart, United might need further reinforcements beyond Manuel Ugarte.

According to GOAL Brasil, Manchester United has recently inquired about Palmeiras midfielder Richard Ríos.

The report indicates that the Red Devils are preparing a bid of around £17 million for Ríos, who has seen his market value rise significantly due to his impressive performances with Colombia in the Copa América. However, Palmeiras is expected to resist any potential departure.

Ríos is likely to be targeted by multiple clubs this summer. He was a standout player for Colombia, the ‘sensation’ team of the Copa América, during their run to the final in the United States.

Alongside James Rodríguez, who was named the tournament’s best player, Ríos excelled, scoring in the 5-0 quarter-final victory over Panama and starting all six matches.

Notably, Ríos led in successful dribbles across both the Copa América and Euro 2024 with 18, outpacing Belgium’s Jérémy Doku (16) and France’s Ousmane Dembélé (15).

United’s focus on bolstering the squad, particularly the midfield, is clear as they aim for a stronger showing in the next Premier League season.

  • Anthony Martial offered to shock Premier League rivals

    Anthony Martial

Image Credits: Manchester United Football Club

After 9 seasons, Anthony Martial is no longer an official Manchester United player.

The club decided to release the player on a free and Martial left the club when his contract expired.

Having spent so long at the club, Martial was emotional in his farewell message.

But the 30 cap France international is now facing up to a future away from Manchester.

Martial is no stranger to playing in different countries and environments. Not only has he played at United in England, but he played for Lyon and Monaco in France as well as Sevilla in Spain.

Clubs from the likes of Saudi Arabia, the USA and even in his native France were linked with signing Martial. Due to that, it seemed that his next stop would be outside of English football.

However, if reports are to be believed, it seems that his representatives were hoping to make his next destination a top four English Premier League rival.

Anthony Martial to stay in England?

Tottenham Hotspur insider Paul O’Keefe has responded to a question on X and stated that Martial had been offered to Spurs.

Spurs are looking to kick on in manager Ange Postecouglou’s second season at the club.

Having just missed out on UEFA Champions League football by finishing fifth in the league, Tottenham fans will be hoping that they bring in some fresh faces to help their team get over the line in the upcoming campaign.

But Anthony Martial won’t be one of them.

According to O’Keefe, the club have no interest in the player currently.

That could always change, of course. You can never say never in football.

But what’s clear is that his agents have tried to keep him in England.

So it’s not out of the question that Anthony Martial could be playing at Old Trafford again next season.
