    Leny Yoro

It’s been a less than ideal to start in Manchester for Leny Yoro.

The summer signing got injured in just his second pre-season game for the club.

Yoro had put in an encouraging performance against Rangers in his first start for the club.

In just his second game, he was forced off with injury against Arsenal.

It was subsequently revealed that the former Lille defender would be out for a significant period of time.

Manchester United have now released an update on Yoro’s injury on their website.

The news states that Yoro had successful surgery on his foot today.

Yoro’s rehabilitation starts now and the club detail that they expect him back in roughly three months time.

So it looks like the first phase of recover for Leny Yoro is in action.

MUFC fans will be following the news and looking for more updates on his progress over the coming weeks and months.

In the meantime, Erik ten Hag will be hoping that his other defenders will be able to step in and mitigate the absence of Yoro as the club begin the new English Premier League season.

  • Manchester United star demands payout to leave club

    Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United are attempting to offload a number of stars this summer in an attempt to raise transfer funds.

The Red Devils started the summer with a limited transfer budget of £50 million. Unfortunately the figure they now have to work with is much less thanks to the signing of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.

United have however managed to make their first sale this summer with Mason Greenwood moving to Marseille, however this barely dented the clubs transfer outgoings.

Now, United were looking to be on the brink of another sale, but the player’s demands have thrown a spanner in the works.

    Wan-Bissaka demands United payout

West Ham United appear to be the front runners to sign defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, with the London-based club reportedly willing to pay United’s £18 million asking price.

However, although the club have agreed personal-terms on a five year contract, the right-back’s wage demands are still a point of contention.

The Sun has reported that Wan-Bissaka’s representatives are pushing for the defender to receive some of the £18 million fee they’ll be receiving for the star.

The 26-year-old is now in the last year of his contract and so is eligible to sign for a new club on a free transfer later this season.

If he were to hold out for this, United would receive no fee, but Wan-Bissaka could get a massive signing on fee, till being cheaper for West Ham that a deal right now.

It’s understood that interested party Inter Milan have already considered holding off to grab the right-back on a free in January, lining up the move for next summer.

Wan-Bissaka is currently earning £90,000 a week at United and has been for the last five years. Moving from United, the defender wants this to increase instead of taking a pay-cut, which is a major contention for most of the clubs interested in the star.

  • The Athletic report breakthrough star set for Old Trafford stay

    the athletic

The Athletic are certified tier one source when it comes to football news.

Over the years, they’ve created a reputation as one of the most reputable sources in the game of football.

David Ornstein, one of their premier writers, has become a go-to name when it comes to breaking news stories.

So when they make a definitive statement, you can usually take it to the bank.

Manchester United have been on their USA tour in pre-season.

The Red Devils have had a number of injury problems in the backline.

This has meant that some youngsters have had to step in to cover at times.

    Youngsters impress in pre-season

Toby Collyer, Rhys Bennett and Ethan Wheatley have all played their fair share of minutes on the pitch.

Collyer, especially, has caught the eye. It’s believed his performances have been so impressive that he’s set to start in the Community Shield against Manchester City.

But he’s not the only one who has caught the eye.

Harry Amass has been winning plaudits for the performances he’s put in at left-back.

Amass has received plenty of game time due to the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia to injury.

He even got an assist in the club’s win against Real Betis when his cross was put away by Amad Diallo.

For followers of United’s academy, this is not a surprise.

The 17-year-old has been earmarked as one for the future for quite a while now.

Usually, players of that age are sent out on loan to get more first-team experience.

However, it seems that the youngster is set to stay at Old Trafford.

    Harry Amass set for stay

According to The Athletic, Harry Amass is expected to stay at Manchester United for this season.

United have been linked with bringing in other left-backs recently.

The most recent reports have even claimed that Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell is one of their targets.

However, it seems that the club’s hierarchy have confidence in Amass’ ability and believe that he’d be best served to stay at Old Trafford this season.

With Luke Shaw the undoubted number one, Amass will likely be challenging Tyrell Malacia for that backup spot.

But with both Shaw and Malacia suffering from long term injuries, Amass could be getting more first team minutes than he’d have probably imagined.

  • Galatasaray eye surprising Scott McTominay alternative

    Scott McTominay vs Real Betis

Galatasaray have been very persistent in their pursuit of Scott McTominay, however they may now be faltering. After a number of bids being rejected by United from the Turkish club, Galatasaray have now declared interest in a potential alternative to the Scotland international.

The centre-midfielder has found himself at the centre of a transfer race, with three English sides and two Turkish clubs fighting for his signature. Everton, Fulham, Spurs, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have all been linked with McTominay in recent weeks.

Whilst Fulham and Galatasaray have submitted a number of bids so far, all have fallen short of United’s £30 million price tag.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is looking for a new midfielder as well, and despite no offer being submitted, the London-based club are keen to fight for the Scottish star.

However, McTominay has so far only agreed to terms with Galatasaray, making them the front runners in the race for the midfielder. This makes it more concerning for United that The Turkish club may now be looking elsewhere.

United’s need to sell Scott McTominay

Erik Ten Hag has praised McTominay and his play, with last year being his career best in goals scored, grabbing 10 in 43 games across all competitions with three assists. Despite this, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Dan Ashworth have identified the midfielder as a priority sale this summer.

McTominay is now entering the last year of his contract, making this the last chance for United to cash in on the star before he could potentially leave on a free transfer next summer. This is even more important with the sale of the United academy graduate registering as “pure profit” under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The club are in desperate need of raising funds in order to complete their currently stalled transfers and to target new players in the wake of the recent injury spree from the pre-season tour. With Rasmus Hojlund, Leny Yoro, Antony, Victor Lindelof, Will Fish and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all taken off due to injury across their three games, United will need to rethink their options going into the coming season.

As a result, United are hanging on tight for the £30 million they value McTominay as being worth. However, this steadfast position is causing interest to fade with the concern that Fulham may soon look to alternatives, with Galatasaray reportedly already doing so.

    Galatasaray begin looking elsewhere

Now, with a number of bids rejected, The Sun have reported that the Turkish champions are now looking to McTominay alternatives and may have found one in United’s bitter rivals.

The report explained that Galatasaray are now looking at Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips.

It’s understood that the Citizens are looking to offload Phillips who has struggled to establish himself in the team since his move from Leeds United in 2022 for £45 million.

Although the Turkish club are now looking to the 28-year-old, they face stiff opposition, with Roma, RedBull Leipzig and RedBull Salzburg all looking to the England international.

With interest now starting to waiver, United may have to keep McTominay if they fail to lower their asking price for the star, which ultimately may help ten Hag with his depth to cover injuries once more.

  • Manchester United “set” Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer fee

    Aaron wan-bissaka

Manchester United are really trying to offload their deputy right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer to make space for some new talent.

Reports claim that the Red Devils are trying to clear some space to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, with Diogo Dalot still very much the first choice in the position.

Wan-Bissaka has been linked to a host of clubs this summer including AC Milan and Galatasaray, however the front running duo appear to be West Ham United and Inter Milan.

Last week it was confirmed that West Ham had approached the star who agreed to a five year contract at the London-based club. West Ham and Manchester United were then set to negotiate a transfer fee, with the Hammers hoping to seal the deal for £10 million.

However, in swooped Inter who have been long-term fans of the 26-year-old. Wan-Bissaka is known to prefer a move away from the Premier League this summer, with Inter having the advantage in that sense. The Italian club have also reportedly hijacked the deal by offering £15 million for the defender, out-bidding West Ham.

But, will that be enough for United?

    United’s Wan-Bissaka price tag

With Inter now leading the way with £15 million on the table, the Serie A side now have the advantage, however this is still below United’s asking price.

The Daily Mail have reported that the Red Devils are holding out for £18 million for the defender, which isn’t much above the sums being negotiated at this time. It’s unexpected that United will waver on the fee, with the club desperate for more funds in order to complete some of their transfer signings currently sat in limbo.

PSG’s Manuel Ugarte and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt have both been stalled for some time now with personal terms agreed for both, however the transfer fees appearing to be a sticking point. United have submitted a more recent bid for both de Ligt and Mazraoui however this was rejected by Bayern.

It’s thought that West Ham’s determination to sign the right-back will see them do battle with Inter, however whether either team are happy to stretch up to the asking price remains to be seen.

  • Bayern Munich director breaks silence on Matthijs de Ligt transfer

    Matthijs de Ligt Bayern Munich

The necessity for Manchester United to bolster their squad has become increasingly evident during pre-season due to a series of injuries.

Following the setbacks faced by Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro against Arsenal, Erik ten Hag provided further injury updates on five players after the match against Liverpool.

The central defense has been particularly affected, with Yoro joined by Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof, and Harry Maguire as players whose fitness needs careful monitoring.

This situation has renewed focus on the pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt, a chase that had seemingly been paused.

Recently, Manchester United submitted a double bid for Bayern Munich duo De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, as the pair have been deemed expendable by their current club.

Although this bid was rejected, negotiations continue with optimism for a resolution that satisfies all parties involved.

Bayern Munich director breaks silence on De Ligt transfer

As talks persist, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has publicly addressed the potential move for the first time.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, the transfer is “imminent.”

Eberl commented: “I will comment on it (the reasons for the upcoming move to Man United) when the time comes.

“It is not the time yet. Matthijs has played very well here for two years, and that’s why many fans like him.

“Nevertheless, you have to think about how you make decisions and also how the boy feels.

“He is still a player of FC Bayern. And as long as he is, he will get all our support.”

Eberl’s remarks imply that De Ligt’s transfer to Old Trafford this summer is a matter of when, not if.

However, his statement “now is not the time yet” underscores Bayern’s commitment to their asking price.

Reports indicate that United were “bemused” by the rejection of their double bid, considering Bayern’s apparent lack of use for either player.

Nonetheless, the Bavarians are intent on extracting a higher price from United.

Eberl’s comments also suggest that De Ligt has expressed his desire for a move, noting the importance of considering “how the boy feels.”

The remaining hurdle is the agreement between the clubs, as the terms with the player are already settled.

Amid their injury crisis at center-back, United are wary of being exploited by rivals who may see this as an opportunity.

The ongoing negotiations resemble a high-stakes game of poker, with United deciding whether to meet Bayern’s demands or if the pressure on Bayern will increase as the transfer window nears its close.

  • Manchester United side lose in cup final

    Mladen Ramljak Memorial Tournament final

Image Credits: Dinamo Zagreb Football Club

Even in pre-season, there are cups to be won.

Erik ten Hag’s side won the Snapdragon Cup when they beat Real Betis 3-2 earlier in the week.

And there’s also the Community Shield final next Saturday that will also be a chance to gain more silverware.

But it’s not only the senior side that competes for trophies.

At all levels of club football, Manchester United have teams competing to win games and tournaments.

The Manchester United under-19s have also been involved in a cup competition.

2024 Mladen Ramljak Memorial Tournament has been taking place in Croatia and the u19 side have been competing in there.

Not only that, but they made it to today’s final where they faced local side Dinamo Zagreb.

United u19s had been on fire in the tournament on their way to the final.

They beat Udinese under-19s 5-0 in their opening group game.

Following that, they swept AS Trencin aside 4-1, before drawing their final group game 1-1 with SK Rapid Wien.

Those results were enough to put them through to the final that took place this morning.

Unfortunately, the team just fell short.

Mladen Ramljak Memorial Tournament final result

In a game that swung back and back, Dinamo Zagreb emerged 3-2 victors in the cup final.

Mislav Ćutuk gave Dinamo the lead with his fifth goal of the tournament.

United equalised through Jacob Devaney, before Petar Andrić made it 2-1 to Dinamo.

Jim Thwaite’s effort was credited as an own goal from Noi Mikiću that brought United back on level terms, before substitute Leo Rimac hit the winner for Dinamo Zagreb.

So the young United side come back from the trip as runners-up and not Mladen Ramljak Memorial Tournament champions.

But it wasn’t all bad news for the youngsters.

At least one of the players got his hands on a medal.

Goalkeeper Elyh Harrison won the best goalkeeper of the tournament award.

    So it wasn’t all lost.

At the very least, these youngsters have gained valuable experience playing in an international tournament final.

And that will only help their careers moving forward.

  • Ruud van Nistelrooy sends message to Manchester United players

    Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Newly appointed Manchester United assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has shared insights into how Manuel Pellegrini altered his perspective on not playing regularly during his time at Malaga.

Van Nistelrooy, a former United striker, has joined Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff this summer.

This addition is part of a series of backroom changes at Old Trafford following a disappointing 2023/24 season where Manchester United finished eighth in the Premier League, their lowest top-flight finish since 1989/90.

Van Nistelrooy’s coaching career began with a role as manager of PSV Eindhoven’s youth teams before he took charge of the Dutch club’s first team for the 2022/23 season.

He led PSV to victory in the Johan Cruyff Shield and the KNVB Cup. However, he resigned with one match left in the Eredivisie season, citing a lack of support.

Van Nistelrooy shares a piece of advice for United players

The 48-year-old discussed how former Manchester City manager Pellegrini helped him realise the potential impact of players who are not regular starters.

“Listen, you’re not going to start most of the games. You’re going to come on. It’s important now that you’re taking care of the younger players,” he told the Guardian.

Van Nistelrooy reflected on his final season as a player at Malaga, where Pellegrini informed him that he wouldn’t be a regular starter. Initially, this was hard to accept.

“I was a player, not a coach, and I wanted to play,” Van Nistelrooy admitted.

However, this experience ultimately transformed his outlook. He began to think, “OK, how can I help these guys?”

Off the pitch, Van Nistelrooy offered advice to younger players on developing a lifestyle that would benefit them professionally.

On the pitch, he focused on helping them improve their skills.

Malaga had several young attackers at the time, including Salomón Rondón (23), Isco (22), Juanmi (19), and a very young Samu Castillejo, who later moved to Milan.

Van Nistelrooy emphasised the importance of mental, tactical, and technical support.

“First on the mental side, and then later on the tactical and technical sides, I could help these guys,” he said.

Building relationships through conversation and training, he realized his potential influence. This experience sparked his interest in coaching, leading him to pursue his coaching badges.

This new role at Manchester United marks a significant step in Van Nistelrooy’s coaching career, bringing his experiences and insights to a team aiming to rebuild after a challenging season.

  • Manchester United “in talks” with versatile forward

    Erik ten Hag

Manchester United have been active in the transfer market, having already secured the signings of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee this window.

United are now focused on signing Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. The club sent a joint bid for both players to the German side, which was swiftly rejected, with Bayern asking for a higher fee in return.

Fabrizio Romano has stated that United will bid again for the duo, although it remains to be seen whether it will be a joint offer again or two separate bids.

It also does not look like United will conclude their summer activities after signing the pair from Bayern, as reports indicate the club also wishes to bring in a defensive midfielder, namely Manuel Ugarte.

While other midfielders such as Martin Zubimendi, Adrien Rabiot, and Youssouf Fofana have been earmarked, it remains unlikely that United will shift their focus from their priority target, Ugarte.

This is especially true now that reports suggest PSG would be willing to do a loan with an obligation to buy deal, which would suit United considering the financial constraints they’ve been dealing with for a while.

If United do eventually sign Ugarte on a loan deal, there is potential for the Red Devils to go into the market again and sign a surplus player, either in defense, attack, or maybe in midfield again.

New report from Italy claim United are “in talks” with agents of versatile forward

Manchester United are one of four Premier League clubs that are holding talks with Federico Chiesa’s agent over a potential move for the Italian, according to La Stampa.

New Juventus manager Thiago Motta does not have a place in his squad for the 26-year-old playmaker, but Chiesa is not short of suitors.

Chiesa has struggled with injuries over the past few seasons but still managed to net ten goals in 37 appearances for Juventus last season.

As he enters the final 12 months of his contract with the Old Lady, negotiations for a new deal have stalled.

As a result, Chiesa’s agent, Fali Ramadini, has begun talks with Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham about a potential transfer, as per La Stampa.

However, none of these clubs have made a concrete effort to sign the 26-year-old yet, leaving his future uncertain. United, who are in the market for another wide player, could turn to the Juventus’ versatile forward.

Chiesa thrived during his four seasons with I Viola before moving to Juventus in 2020, where he has developed into one of Serie A’s most dangerous attacking players.

Italy legend Giorgio Chiellini has even labeled him “unstoppable.” However, repeated injuries have hampered his progress, and now the once-promising partnership with Juventus is expected to end.

Chiesa, who earns £180,000 a week including bonuses, is reportedly keen on a new challenge and is interested in a move to the Premier League, according to La Stampa (via Sport Witness).

United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham have all reportedly expressed interest, engaging in discussions with Ramadini about the potential conditions of a deal.

Given his contractual situation, Juventus are likely to facilitate a move for their star winger to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.

They may be willing to let the Italy-born player go for a reduced fee. Tottenham had been the most heavily linked, but Italy-born Chiesa’s desire to join a club that can offer Champions League football has cast doubt on this move.

Although United cannot promise Champions League football, the allure of joining such a prestigious club, combined with effective persuasion from the Red Devils’ hierarchy, could help them secure the Euro 2021 star.

Considering Marcus Rashford’s form issues, Antony’s continual under-performance, and the inexperience of both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, adding a player of Chiesa’s calibre could be hugely beneficial to Erik ten Hag’s squad.

However, before making any new signings, United may need to sanction a few major sales to reinvest in the squad.

  • Manchester City suffer injury to key player ahead of Community Shield match

    Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola

There is less than a week for the Community Shield match between Manchester United and Manchester City.

The city rivals are set to face off again at Wembley less than 3 months since they last clashed there.

In the FA Cup Final, a Kobbie Mainoo inspired Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-1 and walked away as FA Cup champions.

City will be looking to avenge that defeat in the seasons curtain raiser.

The last time these two teams met in the Community Shield, it was an instant classic.

2011 saw United come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 thanks to a 94th minute winner from Nani.

MUFC fans will be hoping to see a repeat.

In their quest to do just that, United have received a boost.

Manchester City may be without one of their key players for the game.

City played Chelsea in a pre-season friendly on Saturday and emerged 4-2 victors.

However, their teamsheet had a big name player missing from it.

Pep Guardiola has discussed the absence and the player’s availability for the Community Shield.

The player in question is Ederson.

Stefan Ortega was in between the sticks for the Chelsea game and there are apparent question marks as to the availability of City’s number 1.

In talking to the press, Guardiola confirmed that the Brazil keeper has missed training this week too.

“Ederson had niggles, we didn’t want to take a risk,” Guardiola said in conversation with the press.

“Yesterday he didn’t train. Today is much better.

“I think next week will be better but I didn’t want to take a risk.”

Despite stating that Ederson will be better next week, there was no definitive answer as to whether he’d be ready for the Community Shield clash.

If he is not, then Ortega will likely be in goal.

Although a good goalkeeper in his own respect, Stefan Ortega is not quite Ederson.

And if the Brazilian is missing, it will give United’s forward line a boost in trying to find the back of the net next Saturday.
