  • Manchester United now consider signing midfield free agent

Despite the transfer window being now closed, Manchester United are still of doing something with their midfield.

This weekend saw The Red Devils lose 3-0 to Liverpool, with Erik ten Hag putting it down to poor performances. The two goals from Luiz Dias came from faults from Casemiro which led to the ball being lost and Liverpool capitalising, whilst Mohamed Salah slotted home the third goal after Kobbie Mainoo lost the ball.

In order to remodel the midfield, United have turned to Manuel Ugarte who joined from PSG, however ten Hag has commented saying that it will be some time until he makes an impact.

Speaking about the Uruguayan, ten Hag said: “It will take time, so it’s not like I’m Harry Potter. That is what you have to acknowledge.”

He continued: “And if you see Manuel Ugarte, he didn’t play so far in the season. Not one match minute. So he needs to build his fitness rate and then we have to build him in the team and I am sure he will contribute to our level and he will be an important player but that will take a couple of weeks, maybe even months.”

With comments like this, it’s expected that eventually, Ugarte is going to be introduced into the starting line up ahead of Casemiro, with the Brazilian set to be joining his teammate Christian Eriksen in being sat on the side line.

Eriksen however may be moving on to his former club, Ajax, with the Dutch transfer window still open. It’s understood from TransferWatch.NL on X that the Eredivisie side have been in regular contact with the Danish midfielder, however it’s United’s demands that are causing difficulties in the deal.

However, the report has explained that this may be made easier with The Red Devils now renewing their interest in free agent Adrien Rabiot as a cheap alternative to add to the midfield, allowing Eriksen to move to the Netherlands.

United have been linked with Rabiot throughout the summer, with the 29-year-old rejecting further contract talks with Juventus amid interested from The Red Devils.

Despite the French midfielder playing two less matches that Ugarte last season having player 35 to Ugarte’s 37, the former Juventus man actually racked up more game time, playing 3,012 minutes averaging at 86 minutes per game, with Ugarte playing 2,449 minutes which averages to only 66 minutes per game.

With this in mind, Rabiot has more game experience over the last year which culd support his integration into the Untied team.

  • Christian Eriksen agent comments on Manchester United future

Manchester United’s midfield in their defeat to Liverpool yesterday was a mess.

Not only were the team carved upon far too easily, but the quality on the ball wasn’t great either.

Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo made mistakes that led to the three goals and many have questioned the setup of the midfield ever since.

One of the men who could have improved the quality on the pitch was sat on the bench for the majority of the game.

Christian Eriksen has proven over time to be a master of the football.

In his first year at Old Trafford, the optimum midfield for the club was Casemiro, Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.

However, since that initial season, Eriksen has been restricted to a squad player role.

This has led to much speculation over his future at the club.

Even the Denmark international manager has spoken about the need for Eriksen to get first team football.

And it was believed that United were open to selling the Danish midfielder.

Ajax, an old club for Christian Eriksen, were heavily linked to him in the summer.

It now seems that he’s going to remain at the club for a while still.

The agent for Christian Eriksen, Martin Schoots, has now come out to address his future at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Dutch football magazine Voetbal International, Schoots has put a firm marker in the ground.

When addressing Eriksen leaving the club, Schoots had an emphatic response.

“The deal is not happening,” Schoots said about the Ajax return rumours.

“We can put an end to those speculations.”

    So that’s that.

Straight from the horses mouth, as they say.

It looks like Christian Eriksen will be seeing out the last season of his contract in Manchester.

Based on the team’s performance yesterday, Erik ten Hag might want to give him a few more minutes in the middle of the park for his side.

  • Ex-Manchester United man has contract terminated at club

Alex Telles, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba

For many clubs, the Saudi Pro League’s window still being open is an opportunity to still sell players to that market.

Victor Osimhen is probably the most high profile player linked to Saudi.

Napoli, having signed former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, are looking to offload him this summer and a move to the Middle East is probably their best bet.

But it’s not just players going in to Saudi.

It seems that some players are leaving too.

Fabrizio Romano has just confirmed that a former Red Devil has just had his contract terminated at his current club.

Alex Telles was sold by Manchester United to Al Nassr for around £4m in 2023.

The Brazilian left-back was deemed surplus to requirements having spent a season on loan to Sevilla in LaLiga.

Telles moved to Al Nassr where he was reunited with Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

But Telle’s Saudi journey is now over.

Romano has confirmed that the termination of his contract is with immediate effect.

Alex Telles is now available on the market again as a free agent.

What that means next for the former United man remains to be seen.

Telles joined Old Trafford from Portuguese side FC Porto and played backup to Luke Shaw.

Since moving to Saudi, he has made 38 appearances for Al Nassr and scored 3 goals.

  • Bruno Fernandes disagrees with Erik ten Hag after Liverpool defeat

Unfortunately, Manchester United suffered a 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The first half saw Casemiro lose the ball twice leading to goals from Luis Diaz, with Kobbie Mainoo causing a turnover for Mohammed Salah’s goal.

After the game, manager Erik ten Hag spoke out putting the defeat on individual performances.

The Dutman commented that individual errors cannot be made against teams like Liverpool, who will “kill you” on the counter-attack.

Speaking to Bien Sport, ten Hag said:“It’s difficult because when you talk about individual errors because you know against Liverpool, they’re very good in the turnovers,”

He continued: “I think the structures were right in the moment, especially the first goal and the second one.

“The third goal you can debate I think we were not sure about the right or the left side of the rest defence, but the first two goals, you can’t change when you make mistakes against a good time like Liverpool, they will kill you.”

Whilst it may seem that that all three goals were down to individual errors, it could be argued that it was down to the build-up structure under Ten Hag.

Speaking to Sky Sports, club captain Bruno Fernandes was asked about the errors in the game, he disagreed to what Ten Hag suggested and said that goals are always self-inflicted, and that now isn’t the time for finger pointing and about making it ‘individual’.

Discussing the errors, Fernandes said: “The goals are always self-inflicted, you need to commit a mistake to give them the goal. We don’t need to be pointing fingers at everyone. That won’t help us now.”

He continued: “When you concede a goal you can’t just point at one mistake. What’s the point in saying Casemiro lost the ball or Kobbie [Mainoo] lost the ball? They lost the ball because they wanted to be brave. It’s part of football. Don’t make it individual.

“Casemiro is more experienced than me. I don’t need to tell him anything, he knows what football is about. He’s played for the two best clubs in the world.

“Kobbie is an excellent kid. I want him to try more and do this because it’s part of his game. They are huge players for us and will keep being.”

  • Manchester United join race for Argentina wonderkid

Although the transfer window has now closed, making Manuel Ugarte Manchester United’s last summer signing, the club aren’t finished planning their future signings.

The Red Devils had a very strong showing in this summer’s transfer window, not just with their signings, but with their stances and tactics throughout.

The club made some incredible signings in Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui. Alongside these senior players, Chido Obi-Martin, Samuel Lusale and Sekou Kone have also come in to boost the academy rankings.

United we’re very measured in not overpaying on players and, like with Jarrad Branthwaite, walking away when the difference in valuation is too much.

Howere, it’s now been reported that the club are already looking to future signings, eyeing up talent in South America.

Academy Scoop on X have reported that according to @jfelixdiaz, The Red Devils are now looking at Franco Mastantuono of River Plate.

Mastantuono has come through the River Plate academy, making his way into the first team back in January.

So far the Argentina wonderkid is just getting started, with a goal and two assists in 13 games.

The 17-year-old has also got an international game under his belt, playing for Argentina Under-21s against USA Under-19s where that Americans won 1-0.

Whilst it’s still early day’s in the young star’s career, we may soon see a move for the attacking midfielder from Argentina to Old Trafford.

  • Manchester United vs Liverpool: Latest team news and predicted starting lineup

Ahead of this highly anticipated game, here’s the latest team news and a predicted starting lineup.

Manchester United’s Team News and Predicted Lineup

Manchester United cannot feature their new signing, Manuel Ugarte, against Liverpool.

The Uruguayan midfielder completed his £50.5 million transfer from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day.

However, because United didn’t register him by the 12pm deadline on Friday, he is ineligible to play. Ugarte wasn’t expected to start anyway.

Erik ten Hag is likely to make changes after the loss to Brighton, where he made no lineup adjustments.

Alejandro Garnacho could secure his first start of the season, as he has been close to scoring in the first two games.

Amad Diallo also impressed when he started, making ten Hag’s decision tougher.

Despite his recent struggles, Marcus Rashford is expected to keep his spot, as his position rarely faces scrutiny.

However, Mason Mount’s muscle injury, which will sideline him for up to a month, might cause Rashford to shift to a wider role.

This could allow Joshua Zirkzee to start as the central striker.

Defensively, Matthijs de Ligt might get his first start after making two substitute appearances.

He was not involved in the mistake that led to Brighton’s late winner.

As a result, Harry Maguire, who struggled against Brighton, might be benched.

United’s injury list includes Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Lindelof, and Tyrell Malacia.

Mason Mount’s injury further complicates Erik ten Hag’s selection choices.

Predicted Manchester United Starting XI: Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot, Casemiro, Mainoo, Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford, Zirkzee.

Injuries / Unavailable: Yoro, Hojlund, Shaw, Malacia, Lindelof, Mount and Ugarte.

Ajax are an institution of world football.

From Johan Cruyff to Marco van Basten to Marc Overmars, the tradition of the club is seeped in top quality players.

More recent times have seen Ajax become a bit of a factory for top youth talent.

Frenkie de Jong, Ryan Gravenberch and Manchester United’s own Matthijs de Ligt have emerged from Amsterdam as the potential next big superstars of world football.

Ajax are known to always be on the lookout for the best youth players to add to their academy.

Typically, a club like Manchester United are known more for buying players from Ajax than beating them to it.

But it seems that the tables have turned with a recent transfer.

Friday night saw United officially sign Mali youngster Sekou Kone.

The highly rated defensive midfielder moved to Old Trafford in a move worth around £1m.

And it seems that United beat a number of other clubs to sign him up.

Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that Manchester United beat Ajax and two German clubs to sign the player.

Apparently, United had been working on the deals for month and pushed through as they saw a potential battle with those three sides for the talented midfielder.

Romano states that Kone is seen as a top talent who will be a first team player soon.

MUFC fans will be pleased to see that the club have gotten in a talented player early and for a great price.

Previously, United have tended to let young talent go past their radar and then are asked to pay extortionate prices if they want to sign them.

Hopefully, the Sekou Kone deal is a template for future transfer business done by the club.

Le’Veon Andrew Bell Sr., a former NFL star, Paige VanZant, an MMA fighter, and Idris Virgo, an actual professional boxer, are some of the names who have fought on Misfits Boxing PPV events.

One former Manchester United man has made his debut for Misfits Boxing and had his first fight last night.

Danny Simpson came through the youth team at Old Trafford and made his debut for the Red Devils in 2006 under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Simpson went on to have a respectable career in the game and won an English Premier League medal when Leicester City won the league in 2016.

Last night, Simpson swapped his football boots for some boxing gloves when he took on YouTuber Danny Aarons in Dublin.

The fight had an interesting stipulation.

If Simpson lost, he’d have to hand over his English Premier League winners medal.

Whereas Aarons had his Gold YouTube Subscriber plaque on the line.

The two competitors put on quite a spectacle.

Fans were enjoying both men going gung-ho and all out for the victory.

Simpson looked a bit wobbly towards the end of the fight, but both men managed to hear the final bell and hugged as they awaited the judges decision.

In an interesting twist, the judges scored the fight a draw.

One judge scored the fight 38-38, while the other two cards read 39-37, one in each boxer’s favour.

Danny Simpson mentioned after the fight that he thought he’d done enough to win and looked disappointed at the final decision.

At least the former United defender will be able to hold on to his medal for a little while longer.
