  • Manchester United “very interested” to sign world-class goalkeeper

Manchester United, under Erik ten Hag, plan to strengthen their squad in 2025.

Despite bringing in five new players during the summer, their start to the season has been rocky, with only one win in their first three games.

This has led the club to explore options for bolstering key areas.

    Focus on central defence

One key area ten Hag wants to improve is central defence. Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans are both in the final years of their contracts.

Maguire’s future is uncertain, while Evans may retire at the end of the season. Manchester United are now searching for replacements to ensure depth in the backline.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah is one of the players United are considering, as relayed by centredevils this morning.

Tah, who is 28 years old, is in the last year of his contract with the Bundesliga champions.

He has no intention of extending his stay, making him a free agent in 2025.

Manchester United, however, will face competition from Liverpool and Chelsea for his signature.

United “very interested” in Unai Simon

United are also looking to strengthen their goalkeeper options.

According to a report from Spain relayed by Manchester World, they are “very interested” in Unai Simon, the 27-year-old goalkeeper from Athletic Bilbao.

Simon had an impressive European tournament with Spain, playing a significant role in their success.

According to the report, United are willing to pay a “considerable sum” for Simon.

He ranks in the 97th percentile for penalty-saving, stopping three out of every four spot-kicks he faces.

Simon, who currently earns £69,000 per week, is under contract with Bilbao until 2029.

Securing his transfer might be difficult, but United are prepared for the challenge.

It looks like both Jonathan Tah and Unai Simon are part of United’s vision to build a stronger squad for the future.

However, with other top clubs showing interest, securing these deals will require significant effort.

  • 3 ways Manchester United will lineup when Luke Shaw returns

Since Luke Shaw broke his leg in 2015, injuries have consistently plagued his career, sidelining him regularly for Manchester United.

However, when fully fit, Shaw is undeniably one of the best left-backs in world football.

When Manchester United signed him from Southampton in 2014, many predicted that he would become the club’s left back for the next 10 years.

It’s now been 10 years and he’s firmly the number one choice.

But only when he’s fully fit.

Shaw ended last season nursing a hamstring issue but was still included in Southgate’s squad for UEFA Euro 2024 – a mistake.

Instead of a much-needed summer of rest and rehabilitation, Shaw was rushed back into action with limited match fitness, leading to his latest injury early this season.

To date, he hasn’t made any Manchester United appearances since playing 45 minutes against Luton Town in February.

With Luke Shaw potentially returning this weekend against his former side, here are three ways Manchester United could line up to help ten Hag get the team back to winning ways.

  • Manchester United and Liverpool in race to sign star defender

With the transfer window now closed, a number of Manchester United’s stars who couldn’t be sold may now leave the club as free transfers.

As of January, players like Antony and Christian Eriksen can freely negotiate contracts elsewhere to begin when their current agreements with United come to a close next summer.

So, a lot of teams are now looking for bargain signings to line up for next year.

As such, reports are now coming out that United have lined up another centre-back to hopefully get on a free transfer.

According to SportBild (via SportWitness) United are set to face off with rivals Liverpool to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen.

Whilst Bayern Munich looked to sign the 28-year-old this summer as a replacement for Matthijs de Ligt, they couldn’t come to an agreement on a transfer fee, backing out of the deal.

However, the option of getting the defender for free next summer may still be considered by the German giants.

United and Liverpool may have the edge though with the report explaining that Tah has a desire to play in the Premier League.

Unfortunately for United though, the centre-back does not want to be playing anything less than Champions League football, meaning the club will really need to up their performances if they want to secure the defender.

The Red Devils will be facing Southampton in their first game back, with first team stars Luke Shaw and Rasmus Hojlund returning from injury.

United will undoubtedly be hoping for a win in this away fixture to start on the right foot going forwards. With only three points in three games, some pundits and former players are already worrying about the heights United can reach this year.

  • Juventus striker turns down Manchester United approach

    Juventus logo

One of the key priorities for the Manchester United recruitment team has been on future talents.

When Sir Jim Ratcliffe was interviewed shortly after his investment into the club, he mentioned that the club would not be trying to sign a Kylian Mbappe type of player.

Instead, the club would look for the next Kylian Mbappe.

That focus has been evident in the summer window.

Chido Obi-Martin’s move from Arsenal is an example of that.

Another is the move for Sekou Kone.

The club already even have a pathway identified for Kone to the first team.

But it seems that the club haven’t just been looking at this new strategy in this summer alone.

It seems that Manchester United were on the lookout for talent even back in January.

That’s because TuttoJuve are reporting that Manchester United failed in an approach to sign Lorenzo Anghele in January.

The Italy U20 international was approached by United, Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge but reportedly said no to all these offers.

Juventus themselves see the player as non-transferable.

Anghele made his first team debut for Juve in August against Verona and is currently in discussions about extending his contract at the club.

For those wondering, Anghele scored three goals and registered three assists from 33 games last season for the Juventus reserve team.

It seems that while that door closed, another opened in the summer with Obi-Martin and United took the opportunity to bring the Arsenal youngster to the club.

So Lorenzo Anghele is most likely not going to be on the MUFC recruitment priority list in the short term future any longer.

But the approach shows that the United hierarchy are intent on signing the next Kylian Mbappe and taking a more long term approach to transfer recruitment.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo lectures Erik ten Hag in latest interview

    Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo has recently come out to discuss his former club, giving advice to current manager Erik ten Hag.

The Ballon d’Or winner did not pull his punches when discussing the club and what needs to change to get back to the heights that the club saw during his first stint at Old Trafford.

Talking about his former club, Ronaldo said: “Manchester United, they need to rebuild everything, in my opinion. The coach, they say they cannot compete to win the League and Champions League.”

He continued: “Manchester United coach, you cannot say that you’re not going to fight to win the League or Champions League. You have to be, to mentally say, listen, maybe we don’t have that potential, but I cannot say that. We’re going to try. You have to try.

“This club [Manchester United] needs time to rebuild because it’s still one of the best clubs in the world, but they need to change. They understand that. This is the only way. This is why they show, they start to change again, the structure of the club, the president, the infrastructures and everything.

“The owners of the club. They’re investing in the training ground…So I’m happy because [things are changing] I’m not happy the way it all happen, but in the same way, we cannot control some points of our life sometimes, but it’s done, already done.

“I believe that the future will be bright [for United]. I believe, but they don’t depend only on the talents. It’s more than that. It’s all club, all, not only players, club, everything as a unit, united. You know?

“They have to rebuild from the bottom. If not, they cannot compete. It will be impossible. They can do good things, yes, they can win Carabao, yeah, but I mean, Champions League or Europa League or Premier League, difficult, in my opinion. And I wish that I’m wrong, I wish, but will be difficult.

“If Erik ten Hag listens to Ruud, maybe he can [help at United]. I think it can help a lot because he knows the club and the club should listen the guys who were there. You [Rio] or Roy Keane or Paul Scholes or Gary Neville, whatever, Sir Alex Ferguson. You cannot, you cannot rebuild a club without knowledge. Not guys who work in office. They understand.

“I believe that Ruud [van Nistelrooy] is going to help because he was inside the club. He knows the club. He knows the fans. If the coach listens to him, I think they can improve a little bit the club.”

The admiration for his former teammate Ruud van Nistelrooy is clear through his comments, with the Dutch striker holding the key to United’s success in his opinion.

  • Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to increase his share in Manchester United

Manchester United’s co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe may inject more equity into the club to support the new stadium project, according to Football Insider.

    Task force weighs stadium options

The Premier League club has formed an expert task force to explore the best path forward for their stadium.

This group includes Manchester mayor Andy Burnham and club legend Gary Neville.

The task force is deciding between regenerating Old Trafford or building a new facility.

Initial findings suggest building a new 100,000-seat stadium is the best option. A final decision is expected by the end of 2024.

The new stadium would cost over £2 billion, double the cost of redeveloping Old Trafford. Construction is expected to take six years.

    Partnership moves project forward

Manchester United, Trafford Council, and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority have partnered to advance the project.

This partnership aims to ensure the stadium benefits the surrounding area.

However, local authorities are only likely to fund infrastructure improvements.

Which means, the club must find ways to finance the stadium itself without government support.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe explores funding options

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who acquired a 27.7% stake in Manchester United earlier this year, has been exploring options to finance the project.

The club has also engaged in preliminary talks with major financial institutions like Bank of America. These discussions, reported by The Athletic on 26 June, aim to raise capital for the stadium.

Now, as per Football Insider, Ratcliffe could increase his equity in Manchester United with aim to raise capital for the new stadium, leading to a larger share in the club.

This move would likely reduce the Glazers’ stake.

Despite earlier indications that Ratcliffe would focus solely on football matters, according to multiple reports, he now plays a significant role across all operations at Old Trafford.

Ratcliffe and his INEOS team are working to return Manchester United to the top of English football.

  • Real Madrid move ahead of Manchester United in race to sign highly-rated defender

Manchester United made a massive push in overhauling their defence this summer.

With three new signings in the form of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, the only position United didn’t recruit to was left-back.

However, none of these signings featured in The Red Devils initial shortlist of three centre-backs at the opening of the transfer window.

At the time, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the recruitment team highlighted Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, OGC Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Juventus’ Gleison Bremer.

However, news from GIVEMESPORT has claimed that LaLiga giants Real Madrid are now looking into one of the three.

    Real Madrid target Jarrad Branthwaite

Manchester United pursued Branthwaite as their key centre-back signing from the start of the summer transfer window, submitting three bids for the Englishman.

Whilst the bids rose to £50 million, Everton weren’t happy to part ways with their star man for anything less than £70 million.

However, in the wake of United’s failed transfer attempts, The Red Devils are still monitoring the defender with interest of a future signing.

Now, GIVEMESPORT have reported that Real Madrid are joining the Premier League side in scouting the centre-back.

The interest comes after United beat the Spanish champions to the signing of Leny Yoro, in a last minute swoop from The Red Devils.

It’s understood that Madrid are also looking to Arsenal’s William Saliba and Benfica’s Antonio Silva as potential options.

However, if Madrid are going to launch a move for Branthwaite, they’ll have to meet Everton’s price tag of £75 million with The Toffees refusing to budge.

Branthwaite still has three years on his contract, giving Everton a lot of power in negotiations, however, with more interest rising, it is expected he’ll be leaving next summer.

  • 5 Manchester United predicted starting XI lineup until 2030

    Jarrad Branthwaite

Success is never guaranteed in football.

The landscape can shift overnight, and without constant evolution, a club’s triumphs can quickly fade into mediocrity.

Those in charge must ensure the squad is continually refreshed, challenging rival managers ideas and creating new dynamics within the team to maintain energy and motivation.

A perfect example of this is Pep Guardiola.

Even during Manchester City’s peak, Gyarduika moved on from key players like Joao Cancelo, Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Julian Alvarez – sending a clear message that no one is indispensable at the club.

While Manchester United haven’t reached the same heights as City in recent years, their return to English Premier League dominance will require following similar principles.

To rise back to the top, United must commit to a multi-year rebuild, blending youth integration with timely sales to maximize player value.

In this article, we’ll explore how Manchester United’s starting XI might look over the next five years, projecting into 2030 as the club progresses through its rebuild under INEOS ownership.

  • Man United transfer target expected to sign new contract at club

    Erik ten Hag

Manchester United have been linked with a new right back for what seems forever.

Even with Diogo Dalot seeming to have finally filled that spot, there has been talks over the club looking at reinforcements in that position.

Before the club signed Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, there were a slew of other right backs linked to the club.

Monaco defender Vanderson was linked with United.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano even reported that the club had met his agents.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

Another defender linked was Jeremie Frimpong.

One of the most prominent names on that list was Denzel Dumfries.

With Dumfries being Dutch, there was a connection to Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United fans know that ten Hag has a thing for signing players that he’s familiar with.

News has now emerged that one of those targets is set to sign a new deal at their club.

This would seemingly end all speculation about their immediate future.

CaughtOffside are reporting that Denzel Dumfries is expected to sign a new contract at Inter Milan.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

The Netherlands right back, seen as one of the best in the world at his position, has a contract running out in the summer.

Italian journalist Matteo Moretto has also reported that United held talks for the defender but nothing serious emerged from them.

“Inter star Denzel Dumfries is still out of contract in the summer of 2025, but from what I am aware, the intention is to renew his contract, and Inter are in the process of doing so,” Moretto reports.

“The fact that he has remained this summer, rather than Inter trying to recoup some money for him is a sure sign that there is a willingness for him to stay.

“The idea is to renew him on a shorter deal though, rather than a four or five-year contract.

“It could be just a year or maybe more, but not a long-term deal.

“I’m told he will sign a new deal though, despite the lack of a public announcement.

“Dumfries is very comfortable in Milan and happy.

“The Dutch international is very much loved in the dressing room at Inter too.

“There were conversations with Manchester United in the early part of the summer, but they were not serious talks.

    “Nothing was advanced or agreed.”

Matteo Moretto is a highly credible Italian journalist, so when he says that there were conversations taken place in the summer, it happened.

It now seems that the opportunity for Manchester United to sign Denzel Dumfries has passed.

United will be hoping that their investment into Noussair Mazraoui pays dividends as he battles with Diogo Dalot for a starting berth in the United starting lineup.

  • Manchester United scouts watching Croatia playmaker

    Erik ten Hag

With the transfer window now closed, attention for the recruitment teams and scouts turn from imminent signings to next year’s prospects.

After this summer’s eventful transfer window, Manchester United will undoubtedly want to build on their impressive signings, looking at the exciting talent around Europe.

The January transfer window opens in just under four months, and United have reportedly found someone who could help bolster their midfield.

Germanijak in Croatia report that The Red Devils are now looking to Dinamo Zagreb playmaker Martin Baturina.

The report states that United have Baturina ‘very high on the wish list’ with the January transfer window looming.

Scouts from Old Trafford have been watching Baturina for some time now, with an increased level of monitoring expected over the coming months.

The report claims that United were planning to scout Baturina on international duty for Croatia against Poland on Sunday, however, unfortunately for the scouts, the midfielder never made it off the bench.

Baturina did start against Portugal last week though, taking on United captain Bruno Fernandes in the process.

The United scouts will next be watching him against Hajduk Split this coming Friday.

Dinamo are looking to offer their star man a new contract, but The Red Devils may well make a move for the attacking midfielder at the end of the season if not before.

Baturina has started the season well, notching four assists in the first four games of Dinamo’s league season, adding to his total of 16 goals and 32 assists in 126 games.

The Athletic noted over the summer that United’s rivals Arsenal had an interest in Baturina who had a price tag of £17 million.

However, concerns were raised over Baturina’s suitability for the Premier League from a physical point of view.

Likened to Luka Modric, Baturina is extremely creative, so could be a replacement for Christian Eriksen.

Whilst the midfielder is delivering for Zagreb at the moment, United are primarily looking at Baturina’s potential, expecting him to be a big talent for the future.
