  • Manchester United contact Italian manager

    Erik ten Hag

Manchester United are currently on a winning streak after a 3-0 win over Southampton and a 7-0 thrashing of Barnsley.

After a rocky start to the season with a marginal 1-0 win over Fulham followed by loses to Brighton and Liverpool, things start to be looking up.

However, it’s football and anything can happen at any time.

So once more, the United directors are working proactively to find a replacement for Erik ten Hag if things go south.

Last time the board looked at replacements for the Dutchman, the top pick was former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe even met with the German manager to discuss terms, however Tuchel walked away from the offer due to concerns around the directors’’ heavy input in recruitment.

Now, reports from Italy claim that if United do decided to part ways with ten Hag, The Red Devils are now looking to ex-Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri.

Allegri, who won five Serie A titles and five Coppa Italias while at Juventus, left his role with The Old Lady at the end of last season, currently without a club.

The report explains that United have made contact with the Italian manager.

Calciomercato wrote on X: ‘The climate around ten Hag is one of a sort of silent verification ‘And in this situation, keep an eye on Massimiliano #Allegri : these are the days in which some little birds have sounded out the Livorno coach even just for a greeting, a “how are you, how are you doing”, winking and implying that… if something happened, would you be ready?”

It continued: “Well, Max would be ready. He wants real football and in his scale of values, with all due respect, it can’t be the Saudi League. Not yet. The appointment never made with Manchester, United’s side where he enjoys a high approval rating from the club’s top brass, instead has the flavour of temptation.

“With Allegri the channel is always open and someone is taking the trouble to feed it right in these days, sounding out the moods of Manchester and what will happen between now and the next two-three months knowing that in this period of time every moment can become the right one.

“And this is true for #ManchesterUnited as well as for other top clubs between Serie A, Liga and Bundesliga, in addition to the Premier League which in some way however is a small big dream of the former coach of #Juve2.”

Ramus Hojlund and Mason Mount recently returned to first-team training this week.

The pair are unlikely to be ready for tomorrow’s game against Crystal Palace but are close to returning to action.

Seven United players will be unavailable for the trip to Selhurst Park.

However, four of them are ready to make a comeback in the next week or two.

Mount, Hojlund, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw will be back imminently.

United youngster Dan Gore has returned to training at Carrington after being out for three months, according to MEN.

Gore suffered a horrible shoulder injury over the summer.

He dislocated his shoulder during an individual training session, which forced him into surgery at the start of June.

He is yet to make an appearance this season and last played a professional game on January 27 2024.

Social media footage of Gore completing some light training drills was released last week.

Therefore, his long-awaited return to play should come in the next few weeks.

The midfielder was sent on loan to Port Vale in January this year but is clearly rated by Erik ten Hag.

Amongst other youngsters, Ten Hag included Gore in United’s pre-season squad before his injury.

Gore only played one game for Port Vale before suffering a season-ending quadriceps injury.

At 19 years of age, Gore has only played two games for United’s first-team.

On his 19th birthday on September 26 2023, he made his senior debut in the EFL Cup against Palace.

Three months later, he made his Premier League debut as a 94th-minute substitution on December 26 against Aston Villa.

Luck has not been on Gore’s side, but with Ten Hag’s support and willingness to bring young talent into his side, he should have a bright future at the club.

  • Former Manchester United star issues public apology after trouble with police

Over the last few months, some former Manchester United stars have been facing charges with the police and legal systems around the globe.

Former left-back Patrice Evra was handed a 12-month prison sentence back in July for family abandonment. The former France international was owing just under €1 million in alimony to his ex-wife which the star has avoided paying.

In a very similar case, former midfielder Anderson was charged with the same offence, owing £45,000 in child support which has not been paid. With the reduced fee being owed, Anderson’s sentence was dramatically less than Evra’s being only 30 days.

However, this isn’t Anderson’s only offence, being one of eight people under investigation by a state prosecutor into a cryptocurrency scheme designed to divert money from the state stock exchange, laundering £4.7 million in the process.

Now, another ex-Red Devils is being added to the list for a driving offence.

Jesse Lingard gets in trouble with South Korean police

Manchester United Academy graduate Jesse Lingard has now got in trouble in South Korea, where he’s currently playing for FC Seoul.

Riding through the streets of Seoul on a scooter, Lingard posted a photo of his journey on Instagram.

However, Goal.com have reported that police in South Korea are investigating the incident as “according to South Korean law, individuals are required to possess a valid driver’s license to operate electric scooters, a rule implemented earlier this year to enhance public safety” and are also supposed to wear a helmet.

Another part of the investigation was whether Lingard was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the offence. However, as so much time had passed between the incident and the investigation, it would have been impossible to accurately determine.

Lingard’s public apology for the offence

Now, Lingard has taken to social media to issue a public apology, saying:

“I didn’t know the rules of wearing a helmet or having a license as well. In England, and probably in Europe as well, you can just pick up an e-scooter off the street and start riding it.”

He continued: “Anyone visiting South Korea, obviously, you have to check the rules. It can be dangerous. Safety first for everyone. Obviously, I won’t do that again.”

Whilst his apology may have helped with some of the public backlash around the event, the midfielder was fined a total of 190,000 South Korean Won for his offences, equating to £107.

  • Manchester United want to sign wonderkid in January

    Erik ten hag

Manchester United are looking to advance their interest in one of their young priority targets, with a deal potentially being looked at as early as January.

United’s sporting director Dan Ashworth is focusing on the long-term legacy of The Red Devils just as much as fixing the current squad for short-term success, a move that has seen him sign several young stars to the team this summer.

Whilst Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro e are all young, yet ready for the first squad, Ashworth has also brought in the likes of Samuel Lusale, Chido Obi-Martin and Sekou Kone to form the Red Devils of tomorrow.

However, another name might be added to this list much sooner than expected.

Manchester United’s interest in Sverre Halseth Nypan

Sverre Halseth Nypan has been on United’s radar for some time now, having looked at the 17-year-old throughout the summer, even facing him in the pre-season.

The Red Devil’s opening game of the pre-season saw them travel to Trondheim, Norway to take on Nypan’s current team, Rosenborg, where they lost 1-0.

United have been extremely impressed with the young midfielder, however, Brexit regulations got in the way of making an offer this summer. Unfortunately for United, as he lives and works outside of Britain, the club have to wait until he turns 18 to make an offer for him.

With Nypan turning 18 this December, the earliest United could make a move for the star is in January, and they look to be doing just that.

United’s plan for a January move

Reports have now come from GIVEMESPORT that United are “so impressed” by Nypan that they’re looking to sign the midfielder in the January transfer window.

The plan is expected to be that United will sign the youngster, however, loan him back out to Rosenborg to continue his development there for the remainder of the season.

This would also fit with Nypan’s wishes, as when speaking about the interest from United, Nypan said: “It would obviously be a dream come true to play for Manchester United.”

He continued: “I’m aware United has shown some interest. But I’m quite adamant that I don’t want to open that door yet. I want to focus on Rosenborg, and not think too far ahead.”

By signing for United but being loaned back to Rosenborg, Nypan gets the best of both worlds, seemingly suiting all involved.

Manchester United continues to emphasize the development of young talent, reinforcing its longstanding tradition of integrating academy graduates into the first team.

Under the leadership of manager Erik ten Hag, the team has seen a resurgence of youthful energy, contributing to dynamic performances on the pitch.

This strategy not only strengthens the squad’s depth but also ensures a sustainable future built on homegrown talent.

In line with this approach, Manchester United is preparing to advance negotiations over a new contract for Kobbie Mainoo.

The 19-year-old midfielder emerged as a standout performer last season, earning widespread praise for his composed and controlled displays in the midfield.

Mainoo’s impressive debut in the Premier League against Everton and his goal in the FA Cup final victory quickly established him as a key player.

His rapid ascent saw him become one of the first names on the team sheet, reflecting his significant impact on the squad.

Currently earning £20,000 a week, the club is keen to offer Mainoo a salary increase that mirrors his contributions and potential.

Although he was rested during the 7-0 Carabao Cup win over Barnsley to mitigate the risk of burnout, he has made five appearances this season, continuing to feature regularly.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided encouraging news for supporters in his Daily Briefing, stating, “We can say that Man United are now preparing to advance in talks with Mainoo.”

He added, “At the moment, it’s still an internal process for United – they are preparing the proposal, meaning the salary, the bonuses, and, although it’s nothing urgent, they want to offer this fantastic talent an important contract to make him feel in the best condition possible at Man United.”

The negotiation process appears to be a formality, given the mutual satisfaction between the club and Mainoo.

The midfielder is notably content under the guidance of Erik ten Hag, who has played a crucial role in his development within the first team.

Romano further commented, “Everyone at the club is together on this – the new owners, the directors – they all want Mainoo to be the face of the club and the face of this interesting new project.”

This unified vision underscores Manchester United’s commitment to building a team around its brightest young stars.

Additionally, Romano noted that Manchester United is eager to negotiate a new deal with Amad Diallo.

Mainoo and Amad represent two of the most exciting prospects moving forward, and fans are optimistic about their growth alongside other young talents like Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, and Leny Yoro in the coming years.

Manchester United are looking like they’re regaining their form after a 3-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League and a 7-0 thumping of Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

Their win over the Saints has brought them up to tenth in the league, with their domination of Barnsley taking them through to the next round in the cup.

Next week will see the Red Devils take on FC Twente on their opening fixture of the Europa League at Old Trafford.

However, now United are set to compete in a brand new competition.

United are one of the Premier League 2 sides set to take part in a new tournament called the National League Cup.

The reserve squad has already gained experience against senior opposition in the EFL Trophy, but are now giving themselves more opportunities to test themselves against National League clubs.

The competition is due to get underway next month, with the fixtures being played at the National League grounds, with those clubs keeping all ticket sales, supporting the lower level clubs.

The 32 teams are split between Premier League 2 sides and National League teams, set to be competing mid week.

The layout will see the teams split into four groups of eight, leading to the top two clubs progressing into the knockout stages, which begin with the quarter-finals on 5/6 February 2025.

  • Leny Yoro potential return game revealed

    Leny Yoro

Leny Yoro signed for Manchester United from Lille for £59m this summer.

This move made him the most expensive player aged 18 or younger in football history.

Since signing, he has not played a competitive game for the club yet.

During United’s pre-season tour in the United States, Yoro suffered a major injury.

In August, a metarsal fracture forced him to undergo surgery.

This injury typically takes between three to four months to fully recover from.

His estimated recovery time was listed as three months and he has made good progress towards his return.

Yoro has stepped up his recovery from injury and is expected to be back by no later than December for United.

Erik ten Hag expressed his admiration of how the 18-year-old has dealt with the recovery process.

“He’s very mature and has a great personality. He is dealing with it [the injury], looking forward and being bright”, he said.

He has targetted United’s Premier league against Arsenal on December 3rd as a desired return date, as per Givemesport.

This means that Yoro would be making his competitive debut for United in just over 10 weeks.

Upon joining the club, United promised Yoro regular playing time at centre-back.

Once he returns, he will be competing with some regular experienced starters in his position.

Rivalling Yoro at centre-back is in-form Matthijs De Ligt, ex-captain Harry Maguire and established starter Lisandro Martinez.

It took the Frenchman until only his second full professional season to become a full-time starter for Lille.

He was the second most used player in French football last season, playing 3690 minutes across all competitions at only 18 years old.

Yoro has burst onto the scene at every level of football in his career so far.

His debut for Manchester United will likely be an exciting spectacle.

  • Club CEO reveals how they failed to sign Manchester United midfielder this summer

Old Trafford Manchester United Football Club

Club chief reveals failed move for Manchester United midfielder

This summer saw Manchester United’s first transfer window with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Dan Ashworth in charge of the club.

The pair made a list of seven players they wanted to offload to create space and generate more transfer funds, whilst highlighting a few priority signings they were determined to buy.

Ashworth remained strong throughout the window, refusing to give in to other clubs’ transfer demands, even revising other targets as other options, a move which saw United buy Leny Yoro instead of Jarrad Branthwaite.

On the other side of the table, Ashworth refused to lower the valuations of their stars, seeing Mason Greenwood and Scott McTominay both being bought for their asking price.

Reports are now emerging that a move to acquire one of United’s priority sales fell through as not being “feasible.”

Manchester United’s attempts to sell Christian Eriksen

The man in question is Christian Eriksen. The Dane was included in United’s list of priority sales at the start of the summer, with only a year left on the midfielder’s contract.

Interest from the star came from Real Betis for a season-long loan, which was rejected by Ashworth. The midfielder was also offered to his former club Ajax, however, the opportunity was not taken up by the club.

However, reports now explain that Belgian club RSC Anderlecht also considered signing Eriksen, but the deal was not possible for the Jupiler Pro League side.

Anderlecht’s CEO Jesper Fredberg explained to Voetbal Nieuws: “We brought in Leander Dendoncker, in a position where real competition was needed. That’s why we didn’t need another experienced player in midfield, although Eriksen was an absolute opportunity, which turned out not to be feasible.”

The France international spent nine years at United, where he made 317 appearances, scoring a total of 90 goals across all competitions with a further 47 assists.

During this time, Marital was a key player in lifting some of United’s ever-growing set of silverware, including; the Europa League Trophy, the FA Cup, the English League Cup twice and the English Super Cup.

Now though, the striker has spoken out for the first time since joining the Greek side.

Anthony Martial comments on joining AEK Athens

Manchester Evening News has reported that Martial is pleased to have joined AEK, saying: “I am very happy. AEK is an opportunity for me and I will give my best to achieve things, win trophies and bring joy to the world of the team.”

AEK will be keen to get Martial up and running with their biggest league game coming up in two weeks against Panathinaikos on 29th September which will see Martial take on former teammate Facundo Pellistri who has already grabbed his first assist for his new club.
